From the moment you entered the accommodation to the minute you left you knew that you were somewhere special. The hosts, Shelia and Ian, together with their staff could not have made the experience more wonderful - breakfasts with porridge to die for, little touches with flowers and sprigs of herbs placed on the table, wonderful fresh luxurious soft bed linen, spacious bedroom overlooking superb countryside. Anyone staying here will not be disappointed. Sheila and Ian care about their guests and it shows in everything they do.
We visited the Scottish Borders for the first time. It’s a beautiful part of Scotland with much to see. Sheila and Ian were perfect hosts. A beautiful house, relaxing rooms and a superb breakfast. Sheila looked after us and had great local knowledge. Best visits were Floors Castle and Mellerstain House. We would highly recommend this as the place to stay. Special shout out to Roo 🐕🦺
We stayed for two nights. The words we would use to describe our stay are atmospheric, luxurious, peaceful, restful and friendly. The hosts were wonderful, we were met with tea and homemade cakes which we enjoyed on the patio with wonderful views of the garden and Tweed Valley. They were authentically friendly, going out of their way to make sure we made the most of our visit to the borders and stay at the guest house a restful experience. Breakfast was of a very high quality made with local produce. The attention to detail was impressive, everywhere you looked you could tell the experience had been very well thought out from the choice of flowers, background music and aromas. The reviews on here tell their own story, we loved our stay.
We visited recently and all perfect as always Sheila and Ian are the most friendly hosts The house and gardens are beautiful and tranquil Breakfast is out of this world with an amazing choice of fresh local produce provided Fabulous two days
My wife & I have had the fortune over the years to stay in some fantastic places worldwide, but, this has to be one of the best we have ever stayed in. Our hosts, Sheila & Ian were just so pleased to have you in their home & what a beautiful home it is, luxurious is a better description. If you ever have the occasion to come to our Scottish Borders, this is the place to stay for an everlasting memory. Thank you Sheila & Ian for a great memory & hope to back in the future. Louis & Gill Deay.
Fabulous stay. Beautiful house made even better with exceptional hosts Shelia and Ian. We enjoyed a two night stay in the Garden room. On arrival Shelia produced a tea tray for us to enjoy in the garden with muffins, shortbread and a chocolate fancy. Our room was gorgeous with period furniture, top class linen, excellent toiletries, flowers and a decanter of sherry. Magazines and books were plentiful. The breakfast was exceptional. Beautifully laid table with an amazing choice. Highly reccomend porridge with honey and cream and smoked haddock with poached eggs. Guests are able to enjoy various seating areas in the grounds and a delightful drawing room within the hall itself. Nothing was too much trouble for Shelia, we enjoyed it so much we can't wait to go back.
Just spent three nights at Fauhope. A beautiful house and wonderful garden. Sheila and Ian share their home almost completely with guests with a perfect combination of welcome and respect for privacy. It really feels like a home - decorated inside and out with a real personal and eclectic touch plus amazing floral and plant displays. Breakfast was fantastic and we worked out way in three days through only a fraction of what was offered. All were excellently cooked and provided us with enough sustenance to have only a snack at lunch! Sheila is a mine of interesting information on places to visit plus supper destinations. We had two excellent suppers - one local at Seasons highly recommended and another in Kelso at Lemon and Thyme which was quite different but very tasty indeed. Room and bathroom were spacious and bed extremely comfortable. Fauhope is also perfectly located for exploring the borders and ideal for walks - strenuous or ambling! Highly recommended!…
Delighted to be back for the Melrose 7s and staying at wonderful Fauhope with Sheila and Ian. Can’t rate Fauhope highly enough. It is sumptuous and we always get such a warm welcome. Breakfast is a real treat and over the weekend we managed to savour all the options between the four of us. Fabulous day of rugby and then back for a game of croquet on the lawn - what a way to spend the weekend.
Everything was perfect. From the moment we were greeted by our charming hosts, Sheila and Ian, in their welcoming, flower-bedecked hall, with views of the Eildon Hills beyond the windows, we knew we were in for a treat. This elegant Edwardian house is set on a hill, close to the centre of the village & faces south, so the rooms are flooded with light. It has been stylishly decorated, but feels homely, which is often hard to achieve. Sheila and Ian made us very welcome and went to so much trouble, from tea on arrival, which came with delicious homemade cakes, to the sumptuous breakfasts overlooking the garden, with tasty home made compotes and everything else you could possibly want. We were evening offered a glass of fizz to celebrate my birthday; such a lovely gesture. Our room on the ground floor had a large ensuite bathroom with everything you could wish for and a little kitchenette hidden away in the adjoining dressing room. The spacious bedroom, furnished with antiques and comfy chairs, overlooked the garden and the hills beyond. The super-kingsize bed was really comfortable, with top-quality cotton bedlinen & tasteful soft furnishings. We will remember the glorious weather, but above all we will remember Sheila and Ian’s kindness and hospitality. They were the perfect hosts.…
