I recently stayed here before a hike of Besseggen. Like many things in Norway, it wasn't cheap, but, I treated it as a once in a lifetime kind of thing, so my attitude stayed positive. My friend and I arrived the first night and got a beer. I'm embarrassed to say how much we paid, especially if I do the...

Previous reviews cover the standard of service and price but I just wanted to share my experience.. I found it ridiculous having to pay 10 kroner for 4 minutes of hot water in the shower.. surely this could be covered in the lodge rates. WiFi was 50 kroner and this was only available in the main hut not in rooms...

This lodge has the most perfect location to start the Besseggen Ridge trek, and they know that they're the only ones remotely close by, and you pay for it. Even for Norwegian standards, this place is expensive. The dorm room was fine, we had our own sleeping bags so fortunately didn't have to pay to rent sheets. But getting anything...

We stayed there at June, so there were only few guests. The sleeping room and public shower and WC (the best view I ever had on a toilet) were clean and tidy and it is a nice place to stay. A good start to walk the Besseggen! But even for Norway prices dinner and rooms are very expensive. Additional you...

Gjendesheim, a sports lodge run by the Norwegian Tourist Assoc. (NTF) is perfectly located at the shore of Gjendesvann, a beautiful lake, surrounded by impressive mountains, Bessegen. Can be easily reached by buss. Boats to different destinations over the lake depart from here. All services were available, food was good, and traditional Norwegian unpretentious lodge-breakfasts were satisfying.

So, it's the state-tourist-board hostel/hut. And it IS impressive: caters for 200+ people at a time, with excellent food, and allowing for excellent packed-lunch prep at breakfast. It's clean, staff are fun, and the communal areas are bright, comfy and the atmosphere very convivial. But: - it is (or was when we were there), packed, packed, packed with people. The...

Most people have stayed here several times since Gjendeheim is easily accessible by car and boat, but it's never the nice experience you get in other, smaller, DNT cabins: Gjendesheim is simply too large and too frequented. As a general rule, you never get to sleep in any of the smaller rooms; instead you get a bunk bed in a...

Stayed in a doom room bed for one night, for a quick trip to hike Beseggen. Location is right next to the bus stop and the ferry to Memurubu, which makes backpacking travel easy. Not a cheap place, but there weren't really any other options since I didn't want to pitch a tent outside. Great views, and they offer food...

A superbly located 'turisthytte' for all the hiking in the local area especially the Besseggen Ridge. The accommodation is basic but clean and adequate. The food is excellent, the evening meal served in two separate sittings, allowing you to eat late! The set menu is all sourced locally. Breakfast is served early and there is the facility to make your...

If you want to hike the bessegen trail, which is absolutely amazing, then this cottage is perfectly located! I believe there are no meaningful alternative accommodations so i could as well stop here. But for completeness sake and for the expectation management, here are the downsides of the accommodation: - Expensive: Ok, in norway everything is expensive... But even for...
