Sandfontein Lodge is perfectly laid out and comfortably furnished. The views are amazing and the WWI history in the immediate surrounding area created an unexpected interest. However, the helpful but poorly trained general staff and pessimistic attitude of the lodge ranger left me unsatisfied with my stay. I was greeted by Jennifer, lodge manager, on arrival and thats the last...

Stunning views and setting , however I found management exceptionally rude. Jennifer the manageress failed to make us feel welcome and in fact every enquiry was met with a retort on how our requests should be made. We were offer no activities and had to ask several times what was available. The general staff were amazing however they should communicate...

Sandfontein Lodge, (two nights) Stunning views, good rooms, comfortable lodge and some interesting First World War history but that's where it ends. My goodness this is a text book case of how poor management (Jennifer) can destroy all those great attributes. (Particularly since this is a new management team) Friendly enthusiastic staff had no leadership of how to deal with...

The stay at Sandfontein was supposed to be the highlight of our South Africa/Namibia trip. And in two regards it was: Jennifer and Rudi, the new managers, were the most kind, attentive, helpful, knowledgeable and humorous hosts you can imagine. We spend several dinners chatting about conservation, wildlife, literature and politics. The staff was very friendly and well-treated by the...

Thank you for your review and we take on board all of your comments. We are working to replace various items at the lodge in the near future and there will be a refurbishment later this year which will include installation of fans and cooling within the lodge and bungalows. Regarding the hunting, this ceased in September 2015 and since...

Sandfontain lodge is a perfect location travelling from Namibia to RSA or the other way round. The service is perfect, the chalets are beautiful and spacious and the food is outstanding. We stayed there for 2 days and we loved it.

I have been on yearly safaris in Africa for more than 20 years. For my family and I, Sandfontein was simply outstanding in all department, properly the best game lodge and staff in Southern Africa! The game viewing was exceptional and the game was unstressed. The kids loved the pool as well as the magic trip to the old amethyst...

We booked a hunting safari at Sandfontein and were extremely disappointed to discover that the owner has invited meat hunters from South Africa to harvest most of the animals on the property - regardless of trophy size. The animals run for the hills the moment a vehicle approaches. The once herds of 2000 Springbuck are long gone, Gemsbuck are sparse...

My partner and I spent four wonderful nights at Sandfontein. Having driven around much of Namibia and been on a number of safaris in other African countries, the lodge certainly offers something new. It is very remote and not easy to get to, but that is part of the charm and the trip to get there is well worth the...

After spending 3 very long weeks traveling around Namibia with our large group of family members, Sandfontein was supposed to be the ultimate luxury night at the end of our trip before heading back to South Africa. It was also the most expensive, BY FAR, out of all the places which we had stayed at whilst touring the country, so...

My group GPS travelling by 4x4 in Southern Namibia, 4 persons, many trips before to these areas, we had booked to celebrate a birthday at Sandfontein Lodge, some of a little adventure to get there. On arrival we were welcomed as friends and every minute of our stay we were spoilt by the owner and friendly staff. The bungalows are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
THE DREAM STARTS HERE. Far from the crowd, in a wild and isolated corner of southern Namibia, Sandfontein Lodge & Nature Reserve is a magical destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Home to black rhinos, glassy rivers and airy, eco-conscious bungalows, it's a soul-stirring place where guests have all they need to relax and reconnect with nature. A NATURE RESERVE LIKE NO OTHER. Unlike other nature reserves, which invite dozens of people to visit at once, Sandfontein is designed with exclusivity in mind. A maximum of 10 visitors can enjoy the private, 200,000 acre reserve at any one time, and scheduled tours are absolutely off the agenda. Instead, nature-focused activities and excursions are crafted especially for guests, giving them the freedom to explore an area that's bigger than Singapore on foot, by canoe or on horseback - whatever suits their mood. They can even request a private photo safari led by Sandfontein's personal guides who have spent time developing an affinity with the striking Namibian terrain. ... more   less
