I stopped by Treebones on a roadtrip with my boyfriend from San Francisco to Los Angeles. We had reserved a campsite a few months in advance and though it was expensive for a campsite, waking up to a view of the ocean was pretty amazing. The pool is just the right temperature and the jacuzzi is amazing... the staff are... More

I am so glad to see a review of our campsites! When we built Treebones, we were required by the County Planning commission to offer basic campsites, in addition to our 'signature' yurts.......Most visitors know us for the yurts...but the campsites are a great deal...considering you can book them in advance, it includes the use of the pool and hot... Thank you for giving us a good try. To be accurate, we offer hot scrambled eggs every morning and coffee seldom has a chance to get cold since we brew about 8 pots in fast succession every morning...so it is always hot and fresh! Our prices are in line with every other establishment in Big Sur and accurately reflect what... More

We came across Treebones in Country Living magazine and thought it would be a fun change of pace during our vacation driving from SF to LA. The rest of the time we were staying in top hotels and the occasional B&B, and I was a little concerned that showing up to a yurt with five bags of luggage for five... More

Thank you for giving us a try on your recent family vacation and for spending the time to give such a detailed and lengthy review. Your observations are accurately aligned with so many guest comments and praises that are left in our comment box on the check-out table. Treebones is stunning. The location and views are amazing, the grounds are picturesque and well-kept, it is relatively eco-friendly and even has an on-site organic garden. Daily breakfasts (included) were plentiful and hearty hiking fare. Lunch at the patio 'bar' with freshly picked veggies overlooking the Pacific was delightful and delicious. An evening spent eating and drinking at the sushi... More

Dear MontyKTown, It was a pleasure to meet you! I recall our conversation the day you were departing. .. and I appreciate your constructive feedback. Loved the concept, layout, yurt and furnishings, dining room and fireplace, outdoor bar, hot tub and pool, grounds. Dining room is very good, especially given the remote location. The only complaint is a feeling of impersonal (aloof a better word?) service and some nickel and diming, which left just a touch of a bad taste. Ice: $3.73/bag; draft beer $8,... More

Thank you for giving us a try and for your sincere observations and comments. We do wish we could hand out coffee, beer and bags of ice for free all day long too! but...given that many travelers (not staying here) also stop in for coffee, beer , ice and re-supplies...we are forced to put a monetary charge on things through... My husband and I decided to try the more economical option of tent camping rather than renting a yurt at Treebones Resort. We hate pitching tents though, so we rented the Sibley tent. The round, high tent is perched on a wooden platform, so it was more comfortabe than an ordinary tent where the ground is lumpy and you can't... More

You won't find another place like this - perched on the cliffs at the southern end of Big Sur on Highway 1. There are 16 yurts and several camp sites for tent camping. Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. While Julie Pfeiffer is a great area to explore, I would highly recommend that Treebones Guests focus their time on the hikes and beach areas that are here in southern Big Sur...alot less driving, less crowds...more pristine! More

My wife and I took our two boys (10 and 8) to Treebones. The resort is well-managed, particularly given its remote location. The yurts are a good way to get the feel of camping without the hassle. Thank you for your detailed review. Based on your observations of our restrooms, we will review the number of times we clean them daily...which is currently 6 times a day. Treebones Resort is a perfect combination of nature and comfort. The view is absolutely stunning, and stood out even in Big Sur, which is comprised solely of stunning views. The site itself is wonderfully peaceful-- quiet hours are enforced and respected, making for a very relaxing stay. There are bbqs to grill outside, and a delicious restaurant on-site, which has... The drive/scenery is spectacular in Big Sur; anyone who loves to camp but likes a little luxury while doing so should stay at Treebones. Very comfortable; relaxing; the garden is a must see. Unusual and unique eco-lodge experience with immense expansive ocean views on Big Sur's remote and rugged South Coast. Guests enjoy cozy comforts in fully furnished tent-like yurts or choose a campsite and bring all their own tents/gear to camp. Resort 'feel' in rustic setting. Two popular restaurant venues with cozy, communal atmosphere boast great service, organic, locally sustained cuisine with same great views. Massage services, hiking information, and modern book & sundries store on premises. Sustainability statement: We are dedicated to providing an honest eco-experience. We are off grid and over 50% sustained by solar power. We recycle and utilize our onsite garden and chickens to complete a composting cycle.
