Ripplewood Resort was great! Very cute cabins that were super clean and in good shape. The staff at the office were very nice and helpful (We forgot our corkscrew, and they opened a new one for us to use during our stay, no charge). We spent two nights in 12a, the half cabin. It was nice and worked perfect for...

The campground just across the river generated a bit of noise as people were pitching their tents, but that was a very minor point. Secluded (even though you can hear some highway noise during the day) with giant trees all around. We were in cabin #9, right beside the Big Sur River (actually more like a stream than a river)....

We really loved these charming wood cabins. Beginning with the unexpected entrance between two trees to the location next to a little river, everything makes you smile. We cooked a spontaneous meal and were surprised to see how well the little kitchen was equipped. Sitting on the porch and enjoying the food and the ambiance was pure pleasure.

What I really like about Ripplewood is that they have only cabins. The places in Big Sur that try to do it all with cabins, camping, RV's and tent cabins all squished together are just too crowded and noisy for me. Ripplewood cabins are just cabins, about 7 of them and very nicely spread out amongst the redwoods. On the...

Everything is ridiculously overpriced in Big Sur, especially these cabins from at least the 1950's. They are in a charming, quiet spot along the Big Sur River, next to Highway 1, but quiet. The floor tilts, and there is no insulation (a wall heater had to run full time to heat #5 in the summer), but the bed was comfortable...

We recently stayed in Cabin 8 for a couple of nights on our trip down the California coast. It was a great option for families and our kids loved this place much more than any of the pricier hotels we stayed at on our trip. The cabins are situated on the Big Sur river just off Hwy 1. At this...

My wife & I (and now small baby) have stayed in Cabin 6 (by the river) & 16 (by the road). I would recommend both as very good rustic options for a stay in Big Sur. We've stayed in all the local accommodations in Big Sur, & Ripplewood is definitely one of the best. It's not a 'luxury boutique hotel'...

We stayed in Cabin 6, right by the Big Sur river and amongst big redwood trees. The cabin has the redwood smell. You can hear a little bit of the running water at night - can be soothing. The cabin is basic, but spacious (1 queen and 1 twin bed), has full kitchen, deck off the river. It is rustic,...

At first glance, this resort may seem a bit rustic, but it is spotlessly clean and comfortable. There is even a nice diner that serves a good breakfast. We had a comfortable two bedroom cabin. When we first arrived, we noticed that there was a funky musty smell and my friend thought it smelled like gas. The proprietor came to...

Stay here you'll love the friendly people, breakfast, open fire, river and BEAUTIFUL TREES! We got a flat tyre and the folks were very accommodating - in the whole town. Stay a couple of nights if you can its well worth the drive but drive carefully and not over rocks!
