I wanted to stay at Deetjans but they were booked, Deetjens suggested Ripplewood. I called and booked cabin #9 for two nights. We checked in on a Sunday and checked out on a Tuesday. Cabin #9 is nestled between two cabins and a small river. There's another property's campgrounds across the river behind our cabin. It was nice to see... More

I really wanted to love this place. My husband and I stayed here for two nights while road tripping up the coast. After a lot of research, we settled on this place because of the low cost and good reviews. We stayed in one of the smaller cabins that shares a wall (12B). That part was totally fine. There were... Cabins were very clean. I was in Cabin 9 which is right beside the highway but the traffic didn't bother me. There is a store with the basics where you check in or a 5 min drive away is a store with more variety. Everything in the area is very expensive as it all has to be brought in so... More

Rustic little cabin next to the river. Bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean. I didn't use the kitchen but was surprised to see that it had everything, including a full size refrigerator. The heater worked very well, ran quiet and kept to the temperature setting.

We stayed here for one night. The cabins by the river are great. We stayed in one of those that had a breakfast deck overlooking the river and all cabins surrounded by Tall Red wood trees. Had a great time with family!!

Stayed here one night in cabin #2, April 2016. Absolutely beautiful setting right on river. Bed/bedding was comfortable. Bathroom was small but sufficient. Adorable throwback kitchen (fridge, stove, sink, cooking utensils, etc). Table and windows overlooking the river. Deck and seating overlooking river. Enjoyed bottle of wine outside on night we arrived. Very peaceful despite being right off Hwy 1.... More

I have no idea why this hotel rated a 4. That was not our experience. We went in September 2016. When we got to our room on the outside the cabin (#3) looked cozy and cute. When we entered the cottage the smell of disinfectant was so strong and disgusting. The back door was not secured properly and it only... More

I've been going to Ripplewood since the 1980's. They have upgraded the cabins over the years and if you're looking for a basic, rustic but charming feel - this is the place. The cabin we stayed in had two queen beds that were very comfortable with good mattresses. The interior of the cabin is smooth, wood panel, which gives a... More

Lovely! Fun place to stay if you just want to get away. No TV, no radio...you can get WiFi down at the restaurant. Everything is wonderful, very quiet, could use some new, softer pillows but overall the beds are very comfy and bed linens are nice. Best place to stay in Big Sur. The restaurant is so cute! The food... More

Had the best sleep of our road trip here. Initially I was worried whether the cabins were truly rustic or just old but they are beautiful. They are old but nicely so and very clean, particularly the bathroom. We were close to the road which i didn't realise would be the case but the traffic quietened as soon as it... More
