Chandra at the main desk was delightful. She goes above and beyond to make sure your visit is special. Check in and check out couldn't have been smoother. Have been visiting the Lodge for over 30 years and can't imagine staying anywhere else. The recent renovations in the cabins are very nice. James in the restaurant is also a gem....

Arrived by tandem for our overnight stop. Was very disappointed to learn that the restaurant would not be open to serve an evening meal. Luckily our guide was able to take us by car to a restaurant a mile or so away. Advice is check when booking that the restaurant would be open. It also didn't open for breakfast until...

Had a reservation for two nights on our honeymoon. Drove down from Monterey and tried to check in at about 5:30 pm. The office/restaurant/gift shop is just off the highway at the bottom of a hill, and after checking in, you drive up the hill a bit to get back to the rooms. We got the key, drove back to...

I bought a green jade necklace for my wife. The jade is local and non commercially mined. The supply is limited. The color quality of the jade was excellent and it was translucent in the light. I am well pleased with the value and quality of the jade We missing seeing the waterfall because the bridge was out

We are so pleased that you found that jade! There is something magical about art and jewelry that is created in the place that you visit. All the ‘locals’ wear their favorite piece of jade; so welcome to the family!

My stay at the Big Sur Lodge was very pleasant. It is built in a central location close to awesome trails in the forest, and the lodge provides a cozy, homely feeling. The restaurant is excellent, with top notch burgers. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms, nice parking opportunities.

Just stopped here to see the trees did not stay as it was just a stop over as we were driving along the California coastline. We did not get down to the area were the really big trees where but it was an enjoyable stop over.

Pros: - If you're trying to stay in Big Sur and Deetjen's is already booked, this is the next best affordable option. - If you're trying to stay surrounded by nature (not in a fancy hotel) but don't want to camp in a tent, this fits the bill. - The reservation comes with a free one-day parking pass to the...

The cottages on the campus of the Big Sur Lodge are surprisingly luxurious. Some have wood others gas burning fire places, the former more rustic, the latter offer a particularly easy way to heat the rooms. The front door of my one bedroom duplex opened into a spacious main room with open kitchen and dining table. A skylight over the...

The service is amazing. The food is pretty good. The rooms are big and bright, but freezing because they only have a small heater. The extra rooms are like a freezer. No mobile phone service or internet. They offer WiFi, but we found that it was impossible to be in touch with outside world.

Great location, amazing surroundings. Check in slow. No free wifi. Wifi you can pay for a complete waste of time so don't bother as it is worse than slow. The days of charging for wifi have gone so these guys need to modernise. Restaurant was closed when we visited so we had to walk a mile plus down the road...
