Employees wore masks and done a very good job of cleaning Arcos at welcome and bag claim was polite and sincere. Check in with Daniel AKA Shorty was wonderful. Morning and lunch staff including Elena, Jesus, Mosias and Angel were very enjoyable to speak with. Matilda has the best omelets! Alejandro and Daniel at the towels were very efficient Most people were at pool with the beach bar being closed which was too bad because the water was beautiful. Bartenders were all happy to serve. Carlos aka Charlie, Alisto, Cici, Luis and Joel were always on top of things. Africa and Daniel at the pool stayed busy which limited their beach service. Didn't use a butler, but Raphael and Candito were always available with a smile. The chefs were very good including Ana and Elias Domi and her crew were pleasant at dinner. Also Elvis the waiter was very good. Only disappointments were the Beach service with no beach bar and the spa was too pricey for the services received. Just go and enjoy!

My wife stayed at Desire Rivera Maya in early December 2019. We have been there a number of times and enjoy the vibe. The grounds are extremely well maintained and the rooms, although not opulent, are very comfortable
The service in the restaurants is extremely good and the wait staff is attentive but not overbearing. I want to name a few individuals that warrant special attention for their work. The chef Umberto prepared several special dishes for me and went out of his way to make sure I was completely satisfied. The bartender Alejandro was also extraordinary in his service as well. Finally the waitress Domi provided excellent service as well.

It was our second trip to DRM and we had a really great time. The staff at the resort is great, very friendly, always trying to accommodate your requests, often go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable.
Our ocean view room was on the ground floor with the direct view of the ocean and steps away from the beach. The room is basic but was always clean, mini fridge was restocked daily with bottled water and beer.
Food variety in the main dining room is extensive and food itself was always fresh and of good quality. The two restaurants Suki and Salho serve excellent dinner.
Resort grounds are kept clean and so are the pool and the hot tub. The only complaint I have is that drink service on the beach is a bit slow, sparse and usually doesn't start until almost noon. However, the overall experience was great and we'll definitely go there again.

This was our third trip to Desire RM and as always, it was amazing. We were concerned about traveling to a resort in Mexico during the pandemic, but from the moment we met Jairo from USA Transfers at the airport, we were put at ease. All of the employees wore masks and made sure our luggage was sanitized prior to entering the vehicle. When we arrived to the resort, we had our temperature checked and we filled out the Covid survey before we even entered the resort. Our luggage was also sanitized when we arrived. As usual, Candido, our butler, was waiting on us to arrive and greeted us like we were family. Once we settled into the resort, lunch at Tentazione was amazing. Every meal was delicious and we had a choice of two restaurants each evening. We were treated like royalty at each meal by Domi, Ivan, Victor, Rogelio, Jesus, Mario@Suki, Roger@Sahlo, Angel, Moises, Inocencio, Alberto, Inez, Eunice, Elena, and Renato. A special shout-out goes to Juan for some of the best steak, I've ever eaten and Matilda for my husband's favorite omelets. Our butlers, G, Gloria, and Rafael continued what Candido started by making sure our needs were met. Carlos, Jorge, CC, Luis, Africa, and Daniel made sure we always had a great drink and Daniel (Danny) made sure we had our beach bed ready. I had an amazing 80 minute deep tissue massage by Alvaro at the spa that really helped get rid of the pain and tension I was feeling. The staff consistently wore masks and followed protocols for social distancing, especially in the dining facilities. They went out of their way to make sure that our every need was met. We are spoiled for other resorts, because the staff never makes you feel like you're bothering them. If you're looking to social distance, but still get away, like we were, I highly recommend using the beach beds. The pool stayed pretty crowded during the day. Thanks goes out to Mr. Diaz at USA Transfers for getting us back to the airport in plenty of time! We can't wait for our next trip!

Same fun, different day. Looking forward to our next trip "home". We've been going in late October and February every year for three+ years and this resort delivers the same phenomenal experience every time. Staff took the time to get to know us on our first visit and have greeted us warmly, and by name, on return visits. How they remember everyone with so many guests is beyond me, but they do. Mia, who now does hangover recovery was on animation crew from our first visit, still makes a point of coming over to say hi and ask about our kids. Whenever we arrive ar RM, Daniel hustles to ensure that we have somewhere to sit and big, thirsty towels. Pao, Kevin, Richie and Yuni were beaming when we arrived and asked if I brought my paints with me again this trip. They are a teriffic crew and while it was sad to see Yuni leave, it was fun to give her a big sendoff. Thanks to those from the animation crew who took the time to chat with us. Raphael and G, our butlers, learned new skills on making floral crowns with garden flowers that day! Thanks for the help you guys, and for all your attentive care. Jorge (pronounce it "hoar-hay" if you want to make him smile) was great fun as the afternoon bartender at the main pool. He is always full of smiles, so cute. Elena and Eunice will make you feel welcome at the restaurants, and show genuine concern for your welfare. Once seated we were fortunate to have Leo waiting on us for many of our dining room visits. He made sure that our cups were never empty, folded our napkins so they were fresh on our return from the buffet, and made the time to warmly engage in good conversation. Oh, and if one of the senior bartenders asks you "Who loves you?" chances are the answer is "Miguel does," and it's true!

It's all about the tips at the Desire Riviera. Whether you want a dinner reservation at a reasonable time or a chair around the pool or your room actually cleaned you better have a load of 20's. And a bed on the beach will really cost you.

We went in early August front desk staff is always so welcoming even during covid!!! Once checked in we Went straight to Daniel by the pool to reserve a bed, he is always the best! He got us a perfect bed and knew mine and my husbands names the entire week we were there. Daniel in the buffet area is amazing so welcoming and remembers what you like. Alex is one of the best bartenders we’ve ever had and always had a smile on his face!! To be honest I don’t think I’ve ever met a staff member that wasn’t smiling and said holla. Our room was always Immaculate on our second day We noticed that there was ants in our shower so we went to the front desk and they had someone up to our room within five minutes To take care of it. the housekeepers are seriously the best they definitely pay attention to detail. During covid they didn’t have all the dining areas open every night since the resort was only at 30% but they did a fabulous job making everything work out smoothly like always the food was incredible and the accommodate so well to any request regarding diet and or allergies! We had a couples massage done and they did such a wonderful job working on the areas that re requested and made the experience so relaxing and peaceful... coming to desire is one thing I will look forward to year after year to come

This was our third trip to Desire RM. The resort is beautiful the service is great the people are friendly but watch out for the “sales team” trying to sale you a “premier membership”. Our second trip we paid 25,000 cash to the resort sales team in exchange for “membership benefits” that included 20 free nights at a Jacuzzi Suite and future discounts on future stays. It turns out they put a lot of exclusions so they you pay the money but they end up putting you in a down graded room when you try to book saying that the rooms are all booked. This happened on the next two trips we made. Basically they scammed us out of about 10,000 dollars. To make it worse out last trip they offered us a free massage and then when we checked out they said we had to go to another sales pitch to get the massage so the charged us 400 dollars. The resort is great the people are great but do not buy anything from thier sales team. It’s a complete scam.

We have been going to Desire every year since it opened in 2003, each year things changed and in the early years the changes were good but some where along the way the business model changed to cratering to the very affluent folks . They started selling time shares and built new building that block the ocean breezes and took away the over all feel of resort . They created a division of the classes , the haves and the have nots and they put it in your face from the minute you get there until the minute you leave .
When arrived it was like no one new what they were doing , it was totally unorganized and since we were not interested in doing the hours long time share tour we were totally ignored , we had to go back the next day and ask for the schedule of themes and dinner themes . The food was ok but not what we had come to expect , the liquor choices are subpar. When you order a Kalua and Baileys they use the cheap imitations that taste like crap.. They have failed to keep up with the changing trends in liquor world,
But let me repeat the biggest thing they have done is created the division of the classes , the purple towel ( premier) folks are given priories for everything from pool and beach chairs to dinner reservations. On our first evening we had no reservation for dinner and were told the buffet was open to us, when we arrived at the buffet it was closed and the dinner service was moved pool side , it was a beautiful night and we believed a great dinner was instore , as we went to be seat we were told it was reserved for the purple towel people , we explained we could not get in other two restaurants because we had no reservation and had been told to eat poolside , they did not care and would not seat us.
The employees are all still the best and nicest people and the grounds are immaculate the rooms are spotless but because they have chosen to forget the everyday middleclass folks and carter to the very affluent folks Desire has lost its overall feel of when you drop your clothes your all on an equal level. The owners have chosen a business plan that does not include the people that got them to where they are today , at over $500 a night for the least expensive rooms the common folks are no longer needed or wanted at Desire. In the early years when you booked and arrived tipping was discouraged, as part of your room cost went to a tipping pool for the employees , but now tipping is expected and the bigger the tips the better you you treated

But let me repeat the biggest thing they have done is created the division of the classes , the purple towel ( premier) folks are given priories for everything from pool and beach chairs to dinner reservations. On our first evening we had no reservation for dinner and were told the buffet was open to us, when we arrived at the buffet it was closed and the dinner service was moved pool side , it was a beautiful night and we believed a great dinner was instore , as we went to be seat we were told it was reserved for the purple towel people , we explained we could not get in other two restaurants because we had no reservation and had been told to eat poolside , they did not care and would not seat us.
The employees are all still the best and nicest people and the grounds are immaculate the rooms are spotless but because they have chosen to forget the everyday middleclass folks and carter to the very affluent folks Desire has lost its overall feel of when you drop your clothes your all on an equal level. The owners have chosen a business plan that does not include the people that got them to where they are today , at over $500 a night for the least expensive rooms the common folks are no longer needed or wanted at Desire. In the early years when you booked and arrived tipping was discouraged, as part of your room cost went to a tipping pool for the employees , but now tipping is expected and the bigger the tips the better you you treated

We are members but even if we weren’t we would still book the low level rooms as we do! We are only in our rooms to sleep change and well other things but as long as your not a mess they are plenty big to entertain!

we had a sea room view on first floor, the room its self was sufficient for the trip, you hardly spend anytime in there, we had an amazing time, we ended up going in Oct,
Tip: book restaurants each day early as they get fully booked up quickly (from memory it was mid day each day, where you have lunch), also you might need to be up early to get a sun beds (go to the hut where they give you the towels, make sure you tip),
