We have been returning to Ojo de Agua Hotel for the past 4 years, every year the experience of staying at this jewel of place is definitely improving.

The whole staff always make us feel at home, treating us in the most warmly and friendly manner you can expect, specially our dearest friend Salvador Magaña who is ready to attend every detail; from the reservations to the reception and departure Salvador is always there to make things easygoing.

Location is unbeatable, just a few meters from the beautiful and quite beach, 7-minute walk from Puerto Morelos main square and 30 minutes from Cancun International airport.

Just one block away there are several good eateries, restaurants and bars.

During our Motorcycle journeys throughout Mexico there are few spots like Ojo de Agua hotel at Puerto Morelos that meet the requirements to accommodate our groups as final destination, most of our clients always choose to stay a day or two after completion of the tour, just for the joy of staying a little bit more at this beautiful place.

Highly recommended!!!

Four stars is a very ambitious review at this property. The hotel is extremely dated. Rooms were uncomfortable and had limited amenities. Our friends staying across the hall in the same type of room at least had a broken curtain on their shower. We arrived on a day where the temperatures were close to 100° and it took hours to cool the room to a decent temperature because all of the air conditioners were turned off. The photographs look warm and chic and inviting but are extremely selectively taken. We had to carry all of our bags up three flights of stairs because there is no elevator. The best part of our stay was going down to the beach bar where the food was fantastic and drinks were not terribly expensive.

We were able to sleep for a night in puerto morales before spending the rest of our week at a local resort but did not feel safe or comfortable while here. Please do not look at photos and the carefully curated video of the property as think it is accurate or representative of your actual experience. I do not like to leave an unpleasant review but I also expect reviews and promo materials to be truthful and not qualify as a bait and switch.

The staff are very. Ice and friendly. It is literally 20 steps to the beach. The AC is pretty crappy in the rooms but the beds are comfortable. You get a balcony, not a lot of pricey at all but if you’re just there to hit up beaches and night life, it’s convenient. 7 minute walk to outdo morekes square area and you have any restaurants and bar nearby, you get to enjoy the beach house area as well. you have to pay to sit at the restaurant area next door so stay in the brown chairs and bring your own booze to the beach to save paying a lot for beers . There’s a circle K 10 minute walk from it. The shower is spacious and the bathroom is well lit.

When checking into the hotel, First he charged us extra $20.00 for a microwave that was already in the room.He said we had to pay cash for it. i guess so he could pocket it. i asked how long we had if we chose to change our minds or cancel our reservation. Luis (the manager or main desk clerk) said we had the entire day. Unfortunately I went ahead and paid before looking at our room. Big mistake. After getting to our room we decided we did not want the room nor did we want to stay there. There was very loud music right outside our room, windows that did not lock, and the room felt dank and dingy. Within a half hour we went back up to the desk to tell him were had chosen not to stay. He would not refund ANY of our money! Over $900.00!

This is not a luxury hotel but it is clean and safe and the location cannot be beat. No dressers or drawers, so you will live mostly out of your suitcase. Bring your own hairdryer, as the hotel has one but another guest may be using it when you need it. Shower in the morning when hot water is more plentiful.

The beach club directly behind the building is NOT associated with the hotel. To get to the hotel beach club and restaurant, take a left out of the lobby and another left and you can’t miss it. Wonderful breakfasts and friendly service from Jesus and Stephanie! At the beach club, reserve a Bali bed for about $60 USD per day which includes about $40 USD worth of food and beverage. Ask for Julie and she will take care of you! Get an hour long massage for only $50 USD.

Only a block from the hotel are wonderful restaurants and two blocks away is a huge grocery store for anything you may need, including an ATM.

The hotel also arranged for a cab to take us to the airport for only $30 USD including tip and the driver seemed genuinely delighted to take us. All in all, we had a wonderful time in Puerto Morelos and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

Paid $203 for 4 nights through Expedia thanksgiving day. Delta canceled my flight and I alerted hotel. Arrived a day late. Upon arrival, I was told my Expedia reservation no longer existed since I arrived after 3 PM day after scheduled reservation. I was told
I must pay out of pocket for remaining 3 nights at $155. I called Expedia and was on hold forever . After days at the airport, I just wanted a room. I paid out of pocket
Returned home and Expedia told me the reservation was never canceled. I was lied to. Agents and supervisors from Expedia repeatedly tried to contact the hotel to no avail. When Expedia reached them, they tried to deny the refund despite the fact the room was already paid for
In addition, I arrived home to see a “double charge “ on my statement. In addition to being lied to about the Expedia reservation, they charged my card two times in the amount of $155
I was a repeat customer here. No more. I had to fight tooth and nail to get my refund from Expedia. Salvadore and the crew at the front desk lost a customer. Complete and total dishonesty

This is not a luxury resort, it is basic but had everything we needed. The beach is right in front of the hotel with a great bar restaurant that serves the beach. It also had great music every day. Restaurants and the city center are all a very easy walk. Staff is super friendly and helpful.

This hotel is right on the beach and while providing basic amenities is perfect for my scuba diving adventures in Puerto. Front desk staff are lovely and helped me find a laundromat that could pickup/deliver same day. Rooms are cleaned of sand daily with fresh towels provided. I had the Seaview room which was wonderful. I’d recommend getting ground floor or one with balcony if you will have items to dry. I look forward to my next stay at Hotel Ojo de Agua!

The hotel is directly on the beach. The staff ( especially the cleaning staff and Estefania at the restaurant) were very friendly. We loved our room and our bathroom with the greatest view. Comfy, big bed, big, spacious room. Maybe more tv channels would have been nice.

While online the photos and videos portray this as a very clean, well kept, classy hotel the reality is entirely different. We arrived in the afternoon on a 92 degree, 90% humidity day and stepped into the lobby which was as hot and humid as the outside and immediately noticed how rundown and poorly kept the lobby was.

Once we checked in we discovered we had to carry our luggage up the stairs to the third floor, stairs that were barely wide enough for a suitcase and with no air conditioning or windows for a breeze. Or was hotter than outside and led to an equally hot hallway. Paint was faded, chipped, and generally appeared to have not been maintained in years.

Arriving at our room we discovered the air conditioning was off and the room was sweltering. We had a reservation and had confirmed the day before and could not believe we were sent to a room that was nearly 100F. The air conditioner sort of worked cooling the room to a barely tolerable 80.

Once we got past the heat we noted the terrible condition of room. The refrigerator was just sitting in the middle of the floor, not plugged in, door hinge broken. The shower was missing a glass door, the water came out brown, and the bed was lumpy and terribly uncomfortable.

So much more I could say to emphasize just how much the experience shown online was very curated and misleading.

I cannot recommend, even at the low rate or was a terrible experience.
