Secret Harbour Beach Resort is often celebrated for its immaculate beachfront and crystal-clear waters, a draw for many seeking a picturesque seaside getaway. While the resort's overall cleanliness garners positive remarks, particularly regarding the beach and pool, opinions on room cleanliness and amenities suggest there's room for improvement. The rooms elicit mixed reactions, with some guests finding them comfortable and others calling for updates to the decor.
The hotel's location is a consistent highlight; however, the value proposition is questioned by guests who expect more for the price. The service quality also varies, with reports of both friendly and lackluster staff encounters.

We stayed on one of the hillside units on the second floor, and the view of the bay was amazing. Our unit seemed fairly well maintained, with the exception of the main room A/C, which was cycling on and off repeatedly. I informed the front desk about the problem on the first day, but nothing was done. Other than that issue, it would've been a 5-star review. The hillside units also had some aggressively loud crickets outside, so I would recommend bringing a white noise generator or some ear plugs if that's likely to cause problems with sleeping.
The beach is very well maintained and the bay seems to be shielded from the rougher water, so it was calm the entire time we were there, great for smaller kids. The casual dining restaurant had good food and good service. We ate there several times, including breakfast. The pool is also quite large, clean and well maintained, and we used it several times after it was a little too dark to swim at the beach.
In case you happen to read about the chronic utility power issues that exist on St. Thomas, the hotel has automatic transfer generators, so we were never without power.

We LOVED our stay at Secret Harbour! It was the perfect combination of our own space coupled with resort amenities. We stayed in a spacious and comfortable two bedroom hillside unit - we met some Secret Harbour residents (full-time and/or for the winter months) who shared that the units are owned individually, so it's important to keep in mind that each will have it's own decor, supplies, etc. It was great to be able to make our own coffee in the morning, feed kids cereal, and have our own supply of beer and wine stocked in the fridge. We used Secret Harbour's provisioning service, which was convenient but expensive - skip this if you rent a car, as there's a Food Market just down the road with everything you need. We had exceptional housekeeping service each day, used the gym, restaurants, pool, dive shop, and beautiful beach. We also ventured off resort each day which revealed just how nice Secret Harbour is compared to some of the other beaches and resorts. Highly recommend!

Thank you for staying with Secret Harbour and loving your stay!!! That is how we want everyone to feel. It sounds like you and your family were able to get groceries in Red Hook and enjoy a leisurely vacation with breakfast and refreshments in the unit and enjoying the beach, pool, gym, dive shop and restaurants each day. We really appreciate your comment about how you traveled off property each day and that it increased your appreciation of how nice Secret Harbour's location and amenities are in comparison. We too feel we have a really special combination of serenity and resort amenities in a truly idyllic location. Thank you again for choosing Secret Harbour. We look forward to welcoming you back.

This resort is a gem. You could easily book several days here and not leave. The beach is pristine and there are always chairs available. The water was crystal clear and gorgeous as the photos. There are fish you can see easily and it is all well-maintained. The small restaurant/bar has a nice variety of food and is delicious. I recommend both the fish tacos and the mahi sandwich. The pasta salad is terrific.
The room we stayed in was well-appointed with coffee maker, silverware, glassware, and basic kitchen items like corkscrews, salt and pepper, etc. You could easily hit the grocery store and buy a few things to save some money on food if you wanted. The full sized fridge was great for water/soda/wine/beer and simple groceries and snacks. There was a coffee maker in the rooms. The bed in the one-bedroom condo we stayed in was extremely comfortable. The pull out couch was not great, but fine for kids or young people. Towels were thick and luxurious and the staff was accommodating. There is nothing like waking up and taking in the views from the balcony of a beachside condo. The sounds of roosters crowing and waves lapping at the shore are so relaxing. It was a great location and we will definitely return to this resort in the future.

We stayed at Secret Harbor one night before and one night after a catamaran sailing trip. The beach is stunningly beautiful, the water is crystal clear and warm. Really lovely location. But for the high price we paid we felt it was not a good value for an aging hotel with largely unpleasant staff (minus a few exceptions working in the bar). We paid $1100 (incl $200.+ taxes) for a 2 bedroom unit with a kitchenette, living room and balcony ($550/couple) which felt expensive compared to other places we have stayed for the level of accommodation and service. Yes, a magnificent view …but no hot water in one bathroom on the first stay and rather dated furniture on the second stay plus persnickety AC. We ate at the nice restaurant the first night and the casual restaurant the second one night. Food is pricey for ‘fine’ /if not memorable. The hotel offers kitchens so I suspect most guests make their own meals? Maybe we’re judging wrongly as we really only needed a basic hotel room and not apartment with kitchen? Our experience with the Virgin Islands is that the spirit of customer service is not a high priority as it is in most other destinations we have visited. I suspect it is just the island ‘chill’ vibe. We did enjoy the playlist at the bar and walking on the beach which feels like paradise.

Thank you for choosing Secret Harbour and staying in two different 2-bedroom units. Each unit is different as each is privately owned with different furnishings. Our goal is to have all units renovated to the same high standard and over the past 3 years over 90% of units have had hard furnishings (floors, kitchens, and baths) and soft furnishings replaced. Decorative style will always vary and is part of the charm. Yes - many guests do opt to get groceries and stay 3-7 nights so that they can truly relax and enjoy a laid back vacation eating some meals in and enjoying some meals out. Customer service on the island can vary greatly and is certainly a focus at Secret Harbour where we aim to create lasting memories so that guests want to return year after year. Next time you come to St Thomas we hope you can stay multiple days in a row at our serene beach and enjoy the return guest loyalty discount of 25% off when you book direct. Thank you again for choosing Secret Harbour.

This place is a gem. Great beach, good snorkeling right from shore, and not overrun by cruise ship passengers. The food is decent (breakfast is kinda spendy, we bought stuff to eat breakfast in our room most days) and the bar drink are good. We stayed in the beach front rooms, most of these are not more than a few steps from the beach. We had a studio with fridge and kitchenette. The room was nice; well-maintained, and very functional - we are beach people so honestly we just sleep, shower and change in our room. The location is great, close to Red Hook and lots of restaurants. I think this is now "home" on St. Thomas - we probably won't stay anywhere else.

I cannot say enough good things about Secret Harbour. My husband and I stayed for 5 nights in the beachfront studio. One of their smaller rooms. It was perfect. Beds were so comfortable! Housekeeping was SO GOOD with coming in and tidying up. The concierge who helped us to our room when we first got there was so kind and helpful. The front desk was so informative and helpful when calling taxis for us. The beach staff was wonderful, keeping the beach clean and providing beach towels. The room came with everything we needed and more! Everything was so functional and nice. The kitchenette was kept fully stocked with dishes, kitchen towels, and even a brita pitcher. The beach was so relaxing! We rented snorkels and snorkeled right outside our room! When they say steps from the beach, they mean it. The food at The Patio was good. We ordered pizza from them twice on two of the nights we didn't want to go out. Had breakfast one day at The Patio- food is good and you can't beat the view. This was my first time to St. Thomas and I will never stay anywhere else!

We recently returned from 7 nights at Secret Harbour Beach resort with our entire family (including 2 kids under 8 and four grandparents). The beach is perfect - beautiful, calm water and great snorkeling. The beach was wonderful for young kids especially. We ate at or ordered takeout from the casual restaurant for almost every meal, which also worked well with kids and our extended family. We did rent a car which was nice to have but not absolutely necessary.
However, the condo itself left quite a bit to be desired for the price point. I'll echo what others have said - the units are individually owned, and which one you get will have an impact on your experience. I had called ahead of time to request a 3rd floor unit, and at check-in we were assigned a 2nd floor unit in the first building. Our view was nice but obstructed by the trees, and it was very busy and loud outside our condo since we were so close to the bar/restaurant/property entrance. The 2nd floor unit was also very loud because of the people above us. Our other family members had gorgeous 3rd floor units in the 4th beachfront building and up on the hillside, and theirs were much more upgraded, quiet, and with spectacular views. However, we all paid the same price. The sofa bed in our unit was terrible and many things needed to be upgraded or repaired (the shower curtain bar fell down, the sliding screen doors to our balcony fell off the tracks, etc.). We agreed that if we had paid about half of what we did the condo would have been fine, but at $700 per night it was not a good value. The overall property has a lot of potential due to its location and incredible beach, but people should be aware that the condo you get makes a big difference.

Thank you for your recent stay at Secret Harbour with your entire family including kids and grandparents. We love welcoming families! So happy that you found the beach to be perfect and that you enjoyed the casual restaurant for nearly every meal. We are sorry to learn that you found the 2nd floor unit in the first building to be a bit loud as it is near the restaurant. Many people specifically ask for building one to be close and some prefer being a little further away. We do try to accommodate each guests preference and that is easier or harder depending on time of year and room type requested. Sounds like the other family members enjoyed their units in building 4 and on the hillside. We truly want everyone to enjoy their stay and their unit so we would love to welcome you back and have you stay a little farther from the restaurant. Return guests enjoy a loyalty discount of 25% off. Your checkout documents had a loyalty code to enter on our website. If you do not have this code, please contact the property and we will be happy to book you at 25% discount on the dates of your choosing. Thank you again for choosing Secret Harbour. We want to earn your loyalty as a return guest.

We reserved an entire beachfront condo for the same price many other hotels nearby were charging for just a single hotel room. The kitchen was stocked with dishes to use, which helped us save on food costs, although the breakfasts at the Sunset Grille are delicious, and worth every penny! Snorkeling right outside your room cannot be beat!

We love to hear that you would stay at Secret Harbour again! That makes us smile. We know that our property is unique with its idyllic palm lined beach. And yes - fully furnished studio, 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom condominiums on the beach are much more comfy and spacious than a hotel room. Happy that you enjoyed having dishes and cookware in the kitchen. We also have grocery delivery service available before or during your stay. Sincerely,

We really enjoyed our week stay in room 311 and would definitely consider staying with you again if we return to St. Thomas. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention your employee, Phillip. He is like the Secret Harbour ambassador! From the moment we met him at check in to the day of our departure, he went out of his way to make us feel special and like we were the only guest you had! He introduced us to a taxi driver who was also very pleasant and we ended up using him all week to drive us around. Your front desk staff was also very kind and pleasant. We talked to Kaydasha on the phone prior to our visit and it was a pleasure meeting her in person as well. Everyone of your staff that we had an encounter with from housekeepers to groundskeepers were so nice and cheerful. This tells me you are a good and fair employer and your employees enjoy their work. Our suggestions for improvement would be to offer a complimentary shuttle to Red Hook during the day and early evening. It really got cumbersome and expensive using taxis to go anywhere off the property. The $75 taxi credit given to us was helpful but just the ride to and from the airport was $100. Also, we really enjoy live music. It would have enhanced our experience greatly had there been live music in the bar and patio area or a calypso band or steel drums on the beach during the afternoon. We witnessed a wedding mid day on the beach on our last day with you and they had a DJ playing steel drums for the ceremony. It was fantastic! The food in both the Sunset Grille and patio was very good and beautifully presented. I do wish you offered more local (tropical) dessert options especially during lunch. We appreciated the towel service on the beach as well as the daily room cleaning service! In many places if you are staying in a condo, you do not get daily service or provided with paper products and toiletries. That was a bonus! Judging you against other properties we have stayed, you guys are doing everything right!

The Secret Harbour team is honored to have met you and earned your respect. Thank you for choosing Secret Harbour and giving such a thoughtful review with recommendations. We are so pleased to let you know that one of your recommendations is starting soon. Beginning in April we will be offering a free shuttle service into the town of Red Hook running daily every 30 minutes from 6-9pm. This should help with travel costs off property. We especially love hearing you talk about our team members and how they made you feel welcome and that they were cheerful and pleasant. Thank you for mentioning many by name including Phillip and Khadysha. We all do truly love our jobs and enjoy welcoming guests to our place in paradise. There is live music from time to time and that is managed by the restaurant. We will share your thoughts with them - we too love the steel pan music. Thank you again for spending a week with us and rating it a 'Perfect winter vacation'. We look forward to welcoming you back. All the best,

It has been a pleasure to revisit Secret Harbour after a number of years (after the recent hurricanes). The beach and the view are..virtually the same--especially the sunsets. The Sunset Patio restaurant is excellent--both service and food--and quite reasonable (given price increases on the mainland). The coral is slowly returning, but the fish have remained and the snorkeling close in to shore is still wonderful.

Yes. All beaches are public and allow visitors to access them regardless of adjacent commercial developments or properties. Parking at places like Secret Harbour can be very difficult as they have very small areas available for public parking. If you want to go to a beach like Secret Harbour or Emerald, go early.
There are more places to choose from in the Nazareth area.
