After many dining experiences at Ratanui Lodge, I finally decided to indulge myself and stayed 5 nights. The welcome from Pete and Steve was heartwarming, especially since I had arrived 24 hours early in order to miss forecast snow on the Lewis Pass. The room and bathroom were luxuriously appointed and very comfortable (the only thing missing was a full...

We just love staying at Ratanui Lodge, especially at this time of year for an end of winter "pick me up". Steve greeted us as though we are family and once again we enjoyed our sumptuous suite furnished with gorgeous antiques. We enjoyed the addition of the new hot tub, Steve arranged a massage for me, my desire for a...

Me and my partner stayed here for 1 night and we had a massive problem with this place. We did not want to leave!!! We arrived late and steve the manager came out from reception and greeted us like old friends. Carrying a bag (which as the usual bag carrier was greatly appreciated). First - the exterior was well maintained...

Back for the third time, except this time we went for the indulge package. As usual Steve welcomed us like we were old friends and wished my partner a happy birthday as I'd booked it for his 40th. We both had massages in our oversized (the bed was ginormous and super comfortable) room (apologies for being late!), dipped in the...

We stayed at Ratanui Lodge after completing the Abel Tasman Track. What a treat! Just across the road from beautiful Pohara Beach, everything about the lodge was stunning - the beautiful room (lovely antique furnishings), the fantastic shower (!) the delicious meal, the wonderful service from our host, Steve, who made us feel so welcome. A perfect ending to a...

I have to agree with other reviewers in that we found the hosts at the Ratanui Lodge extremely helpful, nothing really was too much trouble. When we arrived too late for dinner, and found the neighbouring pub closed, a platter was quickly produced for us. The room was very comfortable, the food was excellent, and we had a really pleasant...

Nothing is too much trouble, and Steve and Pete are always cheerful and friendly. The rooms are great - all with different antique furniture and really comfortable. Lovely big showers with plenty of hot water and great water pressure. The food is excellent, and the service impeccable. Steve and Pete have opened Kapitea Lodge on the west coast, and we...

I have stayed at expensive lodges throughout New Zealand and Europe. Our two night stay at Ratanui established it as the best. The proprietor, Steve, went out of his way to make our group of 14 have the best stay imaginable. The rooms are fantastic with immense attention to detail down to the antique furniture, flowers and even the delicate...

This outstanding lodge is the perfect location to explore the spectacular Golden Bay region on the north west coast of the South Island of New Zealand. The suites and main guest areas are gorgeous - filled with antique furnishing, dinner was superb and Steve was the perfect host. Always available, informative and extremely helpful. Our party of seven thoroughly loved...
