This is a really well run set up. Small enough to be intimate but still provide excellent quality of service, food, lodges and the location is just stunning. We visited during the first week of September and had fabulous bear sightings every day - really close, making for great photos. All members of staff were friendly and helpful and the...

We stayed for a three-night package which included river drifts and nature walks. Everything was excellent. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly, the lodge staff looked after us, the food was great. They even gave us s packed lunch for our journey back to Vancouver. All the small touches were there...comfort, service, snacks for the day, a day bag if you needed it, rain gear, etc. Issues in the room were quickly taken care of. Food was very rich and too peppery but that was my own personal issue.

From the moment we arrived the warmth from the lodge, staff, guides, and ambiance flooded over us. Food was excellent. And nothing was too much trouble, coffee, tea was hot and always available with cookies and snacks. Other travellers were happy and excited to share their adventures, we saw bears, eagles, birds in abundance. And the landscapes were magical, guides...

Our cabin was perfect --- clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, the service impeccable. And the food is wonderful --- the equal of a fine restaurant. I am sure we will...

Nestled in the valley of the bears, Tweedsmuir Lodge is many steps above the rest. From pick up at the airport to the final goodbye you feel as though you are leaving the home of friends. Each day had designated activities from nature walks to exploring the valley to visiting native petroglyphs...and those bears! Just a few hours after arriving...

Warm and welcoming staff. Professional and efficient service. Fantastic country and exciting wildlife. My wife and I were on a 'Grizzly Bear Safari' which meant we had private guides for most of our activities - thoroughly recommended!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Home of the Grizzly Bears! The historic Tweedsmuir Park Lodge, set on 60 acres of private land within the vast wilderness of British Columbia's largest protected park, is the ideal setting for your wilderness adventures. Originally built in 1929 as a hunting and fishing resort, today the lodge accommodates those seeking out a more eco-friendly adventure as well as a relaxing refuge from the pressures of modern life. The surrounding environment is stunning. Rising above the valley floor are the majestic Coast Mountains, to the west is the largest fjord system in the Americas, and to the east the high Chilcotin Plateau. It is a bio-diverse and spectacular wilderness, home to the totemic wildlife of the Great Bear Rainforest. Nestled in the largest protected park in British Columbia, the Lodge is only an hour flight from Vancouver. Consistent winners of TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence and the Traveller's Choice award as part of their Top 25 Small Hotels (Canada), guests stay in private timber chalets on property bordering the Atnarko and Bella Coola Rivers. Thanks to healthy fish stocks, the Lodge is situated amongst one of the world's largest Grizzly Bear populations. The Canadian Tourism Commission has included Tweedsmuir Park Lodge's Grizzly Bear Safaris in their prestigious 'Signature Experiences Collection'. Participants enjoy the tours due to the small group size (maximum of four people) and the absence of man-made fishing channels. All river travel is on non-motorized drift boats, giving participants a more natural experience. In addition to Grizzly Bear Viewing guests can also enjoy; heli-fishing, heli-hiking, fly-fishing, Guided Nature Hikes, photography, First Nations culture, excursions on the inlets or even summer heli-skiing! Relax by the fireplace, enjoy a new spa and a massage, soak in the outdoor hot-tub, or simply retire to the lodge deck for drinks. Definitely keep your eyes open for local wildlife, including grizzly bears, which may lumber past on the lawn.
