We stayed here after being disappointed at a number of other properties. This place was a winner! It didn't disappoint at any level. The room was rustic chic, great spaces for our family (2 adults, a 3yo and 16 month old), well thought out and appointed. We were looked after fantastically by Jennifer, who we nicknamed Mrs Rabbit, as she...

We stayed here for 2 nights of our honeymoon and wished for more. The property is beautiful, we were so relaxed as we were taken such nice care of. The terrace is lovely - we had breakfast here each morning, and we're still thinking about the white cobblestones, flowers and friendly service. We had dinner on the terrace as well...

The hotel is set in stunning grounds and although staff told us it was fully booked we often felt like the only people staying there. Our room in the main part of the hotel was stunning, on the top floor looking out of the vineyard. Our room had a floral scene painted onto the wall, with the bright yellow furnishings...

This place is every bit as good as it looks. As others have noted, Emanuela the sommelier is a delightful presence in the restaurant and Alessio and Jennifer on reception are cheerful and helpful. If you are looking for something to do and don't want to venture too far, visit the fort and museum at Castiglione del Lago approx 10...

We visited Sept 15 and I should have reviewed at the time. When we arrived we were shown to a suite not in the main part of the hotel, but as part of a villa overlooking the swimming pool. The suite was dark and the sofa was a fold away bed. There was also a cot in the bedroom -...

We spent a week here for our honeymoon. Very relaxing, fab food, stunning views and helpful staff. The breakfasts are generous and great quality. Great hideaway. This part of Italy feels very authentic and this hotel is a great place to stay and soak up the sun or explore.

We spent 5 days in Umbria as part of a month long trip around Tuscany (and Umbria of course), with our two young children (3 and 6) Villa Monte Solare was the only 4-5 star resort that we could find in the area that suited our requirements. Our room (apartment) was great - it was actually two huge rooms connected...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On a remote hillside above Lake Trasimeno, Villa di Monte Solare nestles in gorgeous grounds punctuated by cypress trees and fountains a few miles from Perugia. An enchanting villa, that for centuries was home to an aristocratic family, it is now a delightful boutique hotel with an excellent restaurant, two swimming pools, a tennis court and a pampering spa.Rooms and suites at Villa di Monte Solare are distributed between the villa, complete with marble fireplaces, terracotta floors and antique furniture, or in one of the 350-year-old farmhouses on the estate, also beautifully furnished but with a more rustic feel. Wander around the walled Italian garden and discover the chapel. Then, head to the pool and take in the sweeping views of the Muserale Valley and the Mongiovino hills.Take a cooking class with the chef to learn authentic Italian cuisine and then try to match a wine to your dish with a wine tasting session. In between swimming, relaxing, spa treatments and tennis find some time to visit some of the nearby villages for a feel of Umbrian life. End your day with delicious Italian cuisine in Villa di Monte Solare’s restaurant. ... more   less
