We biked the West Coast Wilderness Trail and this was our first stay after biking 29k from Greymouth. We stayed in Otto's room and it was perfect. A soft comfortable bed with a big ensuite with plenty of hot water and excellent water pressure!! The food at the restaurant was great with a full menu catering for gluten free as...

Kumara is a perfect place to stop for the night after exploring Arthur's Pass. We stayed in one of the outlying cottages attached to the the Theatre Royal Hotel and we loved the Victorian Theme. The only downside is that wifi is only available in the hotel itself. We enjoyed a great meal in the restaurant, and took the advice...

This old hotel with a grandiose name is a good pit stop to break up your journey. Its a pretty strange place with curios and old fittings which catch your eye. We were entertained by a piano player wearing hi-viz jacket, hard hat and bicycle clips who bashed away at the ancient Joanna in the corner! Good coffee, cake, sandwiches...

Thank you so much for taking the time to send in the review. You were lucky to arrive and hear one of our favourite Octagenairians playing on the piano after biking 30kms to visit us, refresh and bike home again. You are correct, we are a bit quirky and you never quite know what is likely to occur but, usually...

Stopped here with the fam on a whim for lunch while driving from Christchurch to Hokitika. Solid lineup of brews on tap and just enough menu selection to curb our appetite. Staff was friendly, professional, and easy-going. Food was stellar as well. Compliments to the entire team for offering exactly the kind of quick break we needed.

We stopped here for refreshments on our way to franz Josef. The building is lovely and the bar area has lots of fascinating things in it. Service was very friendly. It wasn't open for teas and coffee when we arrived but only had to wait for 10 minutes. which gave me a chance to look at the notice boards

We had travelled from Akaroa and through Arthurs Pass on our way to see the glaciers. We were not sure of travel times due to road works so pre booked the Royal Hotel. It had only been reopenmed a few years so while it is styled in a period setting the insides and accessories are all very modern and new....

This is an amazing hotel/motel - it's stylish comfortable very well priced and just a very pleasant place to be. Full marks to the staff and to the creators of this accommodation. We've been to several places on the West Coast during our holiday here, and this was by far the most pleasant, most comfortable, the most customer friendly. These...

I was with a group of five doing the West Coast Wilderness Trail. We had a great stay in the hotel itself. The rooms were very nicely done, the food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff were helpful and friendly.

We were riding the West Coast Wilderness Trail, so this was our first stop. We arrived in rain very wet, so were delighted to find a deep bath waiting in our miner's cottage. The cottages are very modern but have antique furniture in them and are spacious and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

We chose to stay in Theatre Royal Hotel because we knew that we wouldn't be able to drive further that day and still be able to negotiate check-in and dinner. This place was a twofer. Its Victorian decor was a refreshing change from all the nature that we had seen that day. From the moment we checked in we knew...
