Angaga Island Resort & Spa is located in the South Ari Atoll and is surrounded by a wealth of natural beauty along with crystal clear waters and a white sandy beach. The island is approximately 45,000 square metres and is superb for snorkeling and diving with the house reef just 7-8 metres from the beach featuring live coral and beautiful marine life. This is a great island for those holidaymakers seeking peace and tranquility.

Angaga is a small island with wonderful nature. My husband and I were accommodated in the beach house and we were happy with it. Her number is 114. First, they gave us house number 119, in front of which there is a large sewage pipe, and after 2 hours of discussion and my hysteria, they agreed to give us another accommodation. That's the only thing that was wrong on Angaga. On one part of the island, there are sandbags and that pipe (the left side of the picture), and it's not right to offer accommodation in front of them, and that's what they give to everyone first. As for the food, it is delicious, I don't know what I would prefer, extra. Parrots fly around you, crabs sit on the beach, sardine fish in the sea around you. I would repeat Angagau only with the guarantee that they would not offer me accommodation near the sewage pipe.

My wife and I travelled out to Angaga for my 65th birthday, as a revisit, following my first stay on the island some 35 years ago(!). It was, what I would have called a 'traditional' Maldivian holiday resort 'back in the day', with sandy floors and individual thatched bungalows and has certainly tried to keep with that tradition, rather than the generic corporate holiday resorts, that have appeared everywhere, in this Indian Ocean paradise. The flight by sea-plane from Hulhulé (Velana International) was a little noisy but a new experience and only took ~25mins and we were well welcomed by the staff at Angaga Island resort and Spa. The general welcoming chat was short but very informative and well spoken in English, although this is mainly German tourist resort (we felt). We were shown to our beach bungalow and were immediately impressed with the quality of what was to be our abode for the next two weeks. The bed was larger, firm(ish) and comfortable, the air-con effective, even on the lowest (quietest) setting and the bathroom new, modern and better than we expected. On our first exploratory walk, we saw that although there are plenty of large expanses of white fine sand beaches, and every bungalow receives their own dedicated loungers and a little private area, there are signs of erosion on the North End of the island. There was remedial work being carried out on this, but worth checking out. We were visiting with a Half-Board plan and both of our meals were from the well stocked buffet. There was ALWAYS something to tempt us on the daily changing selection and we were NEVER disappointed with what was on offer. Both of the bars were well stocked but don't expect a cheap hangover, as prices are what you'd expect to pay in an upmarket London club. A half-pint-lager was $4.50 and cocktails up to $10.50 (and above) for my 'Long Island Iced Tea'..! The snorkelling was good with many rocky outcrops and coral heads to enjoy and the coral was getting back to it's former glory, with Angaga actively farming new corals to transplant back onto the reefs. Good for you Angaga. The dive shop was expertly staffed and Marina and Olli were very helpful in getting this aging Divemaster back into shape..! Good, reliable and well maintained SCUBA gear is available to hire and prices are reasonable. An acclimatisation dive and two boat dives was less than $250, which was fine by me. We (my wife and I) wanted a relaxing holiday, following the well known trials and tribulations of the Covid pandemic, and Angaga Island Resort fitted the bill perfectly. The shifting sands of the island are being addressed and it's good (for us) to find a resort, where the palm trees are still higher than the buildings (an old by-law now seemingly forgotten). I could not recommend a visit to Angaga strongly enough, if you want to experience a 'No News, No Shoes' getaway break, although we NEVER had a problem with the Wi-Fi connect-ability either. The staff are first-rate, polite and will get things done for you if asked. The food excellent and it was great to find an omelette chef who knew his stuff, and enhanced breakfast. Our bungalow (147) was perfect, spacious, clean, well maintained and no more than 20 paces from the beach. We will be going back..!!

Diving is very good but the organization in and out of the house reef needs to be improved, no help getting in and out as on other islands visited. Breakfast was very simple and the rest was a normal buffet without highlights, even on Easter.

We have just come back from the Angaga Island and would like to share our opinion about this resort. You will feel welcome from your very first minute in the island and it will not change until the last day of your stay there. Everyone knows that the Maldives is about picturesque views, wonderful nature and so on… but for us it will always be about fantastic people too… All the staff members work very hard but they remain smiling and extremely friendly. In particular, we will never forget Asad, who was perfectly taking care of us during meals, serving our favorite coffee and wine of our choice. Furthermore, if you decide to visit this island, do not forget to go to a local shop and have a short conversation with Ripun who works there - he will happily advise you what to choose as a perfect gift… Lastly, if you ever decide that diving is your thing - do not hesitate to start your adventure with Katja Schlegel, from a local diving school. Both of us did the Padi OWD course with her and it was something unforgettable… We will greatly miss Angaga and hopefully return one day… Kasia & Robert from Poland

We went to Angaga for our honeymoon. We can recommend the stay overall. The staff is friendly and helpful. In addition, everything is very well organized. We could rely 100% on the staff, for example for the transfer to the airport in Malé. The snorkeling at the house reef is nice, but two coral bleachings left a big devastation. In any case, it is praiseworthy that the reef is now protected and no fishing is allowed. However, it is sad that the resulting garbage is either burned on the island (we learned this only after inquiries) or brought to the garbage island Thilafushi. We could not justify this and took the garbage home. We hope that as many other tourists as possible also do this to protect the environment of the Maldives! The food tasted great. Especially the homemade curries were a delight. We were surprised that we could even eat the salad and had no health problems. We were happy that the budgies get food and can fly around freely. On the other hand, we were very sad that two parrots are kept in a cage and cannot fly around. Please report this so that something can be done! The more people complain, the more likely something will happen. The same goes for the cat on the island that we suddenly discovered (see photo). The young, sweet cat came to Angaga by chance a year ago with a transport of goods. She seems to be healthy and lively, but after asking several times we found out that nobody takes care of her. We found out that the cat is rather afraid of the staff and only goes to the tourists. But they just assume that the cat is taken care of, which is not the facts in the Maldives. We asked the staff to take care of the cat and feed it leftovers from the buffet. Because the staff complains that the cat eats the budgies. Yes of course, what else should she eat if no one gives her anything? Therefore, please ask the staff about her. Because as cat owners, it breaks our hearts to leave the animal to its fate.... The island is otherwise very beautiful and quiet. The spa is also very recommendable. We had half board with breakfast and dinner included, which was quite enough for us.

We can heartily recommend Angaga. In particular, the diving school is absolutely top, warm people, highly professional. Katja, Michelle, Stefan, Jochen, etc. are hearty people and very fun to be with. The only criticism: Please release the two parrots, which are kept in a - admittedly large - cage near the lobby. The sight hurts. Their screams hurt as well - And second: Unfortunately, the bartenders have little flair for music. Often in the afternoon they play nervous teen pop with fast bass, which does not allow you to relax. We had to point out several times to please turn down the music and also change to more relaxed music. Otherwise, however, everything is fine.

My booking was cancelled as managemt decision for South Asian countries where all the resorts are accepting Indians. I had made a booking in advance with a fantastic deal for advance booking. Suddenly they came out with this rule and cancelled my booking so that they can sell those rooms at higher tariff.

As a big family trip ( with 2 small kids)  we decided to choose Angaga Island Resort. I'll make short review: 1. Rooms are comfortable and very clean ( 2 times per day cleaned), 2. Food - we had All inclusive, breakfast is like in most hotels the same every day, lunch and dinner are very delicious and fresh prepared with each day changing. 3. Service - everything was really good, from arriving till end everyone was pleasant and helpful. The only big remark is the fact that you leave your room at 12h and your All inclusive package stops there. Meaning if you have evening flight (transfer) you are not able to drink or eat anything for that time. I think that should be  included like in every All inclusive resort where we were. So we recommend this Resort, also for family with kids that love sea, playing in sand or snorkeling. Thank you for lovely vacation!
