We stayed in red earth gokarna for 3 days-
Pros- Amazing location. They have a beach right next to the property which is clean, well maintaned and safe for swimming. we enjoyed the mornings their
Terrific sunset views
Amazing work done by the SPA .
Homely and tasty Food
Clean spacious rooms
Cons- They took lot of time to prepare food as their chef was on leave . We pre ordered our dinner considering the situation. But to our dissapointment we were made to sit in the dinning area for more than 50 min without any update on the food . On asking one of the resort guy told its ready , but again he went inside the kitchen and we had to wait indefinitely for food. We do understand considering covid situation, they r under staffed but Since we had pre ordered food by 7.30 and were asked to sit in the dinning area , its expected that the food will e served. Our only request was to inform us if its not ready which they followed from next day. On questioning why the food is getting so late, the guy at the resort was rude and unapologetic.
Didn't expect this kind of hospitality from red earth Gokarna when only 3 rooms(out of 20) were occupied that night.

After confronting them , we were informed on time from next day onwards how much time we have to wait for food.

Dear Madam Delighted you enjoyed the property Post lockdown the hospitality segment is just getting its act together We thank you for your understanding & support The dinner order was taken by a junior staff who got time for the meal wrong We deeply apologise for the inconvenience & also for his response which was in truth not intended to be rude 🙏 Do explore our other properties Warm regards Team Red Earth

If you, like me, want to be soothed by the sound of the sea, if you love spending your day lounging around under trees and your evenings under the stars, if you never tire of gorgeous sunsets and strolls on a near private beach, then Red Earth Gokarna, perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, your place. The staff, led by the always smiling Sanath, are friendly and eager to please; the food, if you know what to order, is very good and even though mobile network is absent, the WiFi is good enough to see you through. I was working on the road, and I have never had a more stunning workplace.

But don’t come looking for traditional luxuries. The rooms are basic, the bathrooms could do with an upgrade, and the housekeeping is not to the standards you might expect in fancier resorts.

But the really luxury is the location. I hope to return. Soon.

Red Earth Gokarna is a wonderful oasis of quietness, close to the ocean, and far away from the normal Indian chaos.
Therefor it is a relief to be able to take a breath here.

The highlights at this place are above all the excellent service from the staff, the teachers and the surrounding community workers.
They try to provide an impeccable service and are very helpful, willing to make any request met in a very courteous way.

The other highlight is the food. They offer an excellent international cuisine.

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. The remote location (near to Honey beach) remains its only attraction. However, it has got most of its hospitality basics wrong.

We booked 2 cottages and both of them were different.
One had a TV and the other didn't. (though after repeated requests, one was provided with 1 day validity!)
One had a Closet and the other didn't.
One had a broken bathroom dustbin (foot pedal wasn't working) and the other had a broken fan regulator.
One of them had a table and the other didn't.
None of them had an electric kettle (if you need hot drinking water)
None of them had a single chair to sit.

Their whole marketing is around a 'private beach' which is indeed beautiful. However, Gokarna (Om Beach) is around 40 kms away. Additionally, the last few meters of the rocky approach to the beach(in rainy season) is just too slippery and dangerous. This is something which the hotel management can easily fix by installing some safety bars/chains along the route to beach but lies in neglect.

As we entered, I spotted a lizard relaxing on the bed (I have the pics). The hairfall from previous guest was all over the white bedsheet. During our stay, they didn't provide fresh towels/fresh bedsheets while doing room cleaning.

The hardworking staff is clearly untrained/overworked for hospitality industry and that shows up within first few hours of your stay. Understand that it is extremely difficult to persuade trained staff to come and work at this place.

While the menu (on paper) is 15 page elaborate one, the food you get is just ordinary and there isn't any other option within 10 kms. There is no cellphone network or intercom and you need to rely on 'Whatsapp messages/calls' for even a glass of water.

Don't go by the flashy website as the experience will barely match your expectation. Youngsters may like it (for the beach access) if you don't care about hospitality/service/hotel room and just need a bed to lie down.

We visited this place for 3 nights 4 days last month for a beach vacation.
this is the worst place I have stayed till now. we decided to go here instead of main Gokarna beaches because they were offering a private beach and rooms looked nice and Red earth has a good review. my suggestion don’t stay at this place.
Pros: food is ok not much variety
it is in a scenic place
Few staff are good
cons:
most of the plugs/lights in room were not working
mini fridge not working(we stayed in 2 rooms both had same issue even after they tried fixing it)
bed provided in the cottage is very small if you are travelling with kids difficult to sleep. Room is also very small after bed there is very less space to walk without hitting your foot somewhere. No balcony or cloth drying option.
Beach which they say is private is not even accessible , you have steps till 30% after that you need to climb on a rock to reach the beach not at all possible to do for kids or aged people including me most of the guest had a fall while going down or coming up. The rocks have an inch of Alge grown it is very slippery.
On our second day we had 30 plus guests who were visiting the beach but not staying so I am assuming they have some kind of day package as well as all the guests came from resort entrance.
Beach is very small so you cant go for a long walk or anything like that and since it is a cliff side beach water is not clean if you take a dip you will come out with black particles covering your whole body.
Rooms are not maintained very well
Most of the staff needs good training with customer interaction.

Worst thing was on first day we were staying in room number 2 and they had party going on till 12 PM with full volume and shouting. The party was happening just behind the room so it was like they were having party inside in the room. We couldn’t sleep even after raising the complaint with management nothing was changed next day they said they were drunk so we couldn’t do anything.

We deeply regret that the guest did not have a good stay We have no control over the guests coming to the beach as beaches are all open to the public We cannot stop guests from staying late, though we close our kitchen by 11 pm . We request guests not to disturb oyhers , some listen some don't The beach is generally clean , but a lot depends on the weather and if it has rained in the hills as the Gangavalli river joins the sea not far from us

The only plus is the proximity of property to Honey Beach, very few visitors & being maintained so very well, imparts you a feeling of being on a picture perfect private beach. Else, Red Earth is on a deserted & secluded location, quite off the usual habitation hence meant for visitors looking for nothing else but only an absolute relaxation / no doing / peace / meditation. Forget about any possibilities to explore options to eat / drink anywhere apart from their inhouse restaurant, which serve hot food but of pathetic taste & quality. Quantity served doesn't justify prices being charged for the dish. Just for example to understand- One highly bone stud slice of fried Kingsfish weighing nothing more then 100 - 150 grams is charged at Rs. 500/-. One will be shocked to see the quantity being served over lunch / dinner table for other ordered items too & above that you will not be able to order anything additional since they cook strictly as per advance requests received from guests. So be careful & carry some snacks to face such highly likely hard time.
Overall a much BELOW AVERAGE experience, surely would not like to visit again.

We drove all the way from Mumbai to experience Red Earth Gokarna. It has one of the best location in terms of being perched on a cliff running down to a rocky as well as sand beach.Red Earth was such a disappointment - no maintenance with windows that don't open, no net to stop the mosquitoes and insects from swarming in; broken cupboards; air-conditioners that make terrible noise; fans right on your nose; stray dogs which chases children and eats away shoes; lights not working; bathroom with broken tiles; dirty bed linen; no one to clean the room even when you request; to name a few. Then of course, the food quality is terrible with limited choice and delayed service. Even when we ordered food at 7pm, they forgot half and the rest they served after 1.5 hours. It was because of Mr. Sanjay that we stayed on since he tried his best to make it comfortable while the rest of them (including the tall man who does nothing and is extremely rude to every guest and sits in the reception office all day) are no good. We had to cut short our stay because we couldn't live in such squalid condition after having paid through the nose. So you pay for 7 star and get worst than a budget hotel service. Of course they didn't offer to refund or apologies. So think before you book Red Earth!

Red Earth Gokarna is a serene eco-friendly resort nestled amidst the lush landscapes of Gokarna. Its proximity to Honey Beach makes it an ideal getaway from urban chaos. Throughout the resort, an eco-conscious approach is evident, reflected in beautifully crafted cottages that seamlessly merge with the natural surroundings while offering modern comforts.

The experience of embarking on a nature walk guided by an experienced naturalist to witness breathtaking sunrises and sunsets is simply exquisite. The naturalist's depth of knowledge adds immense value to this picturesque encounter with nature.

The resort's tranquil atmosphere, coupled with the attentive and hospitable staff, enhances its overall allure. These elements ensure that every guest enjoys a relaxing and memorable stay, cherishing moments of peace and connection amidst the resort's serene surroundings

Very bad service, I hv booked a cottage 15 days before but they gave us 1 dirty room which had crack on walls and told us this is the only room available and as the booking was prepaid no refund allowed. Food taste is less than average, we hv asked for romantic candle light dinner, we paid 2900 extra in advance for decoration but it was very bad, in package they hv told us that decoration would be with flowers and balloons but they literally put 4 balloons and no flowers at all. Dinner was pathetic. Overall only property location is good rest everything is very very bad

The stay was just perfect and it couldn't have been better. Since it's an isolated beach, there's absolutely no disturbances here.
Maintenance staff were extremely polite and kind, they helped us in our hour of need although they could have politely declined our request. They upheld the claimed values of Red earth(Check out the pic included to get an idea) , and every other staff is super friendly.
Overall it's a lovely place.
