Castlereigh cottages are just one of the most marvelous place we've stayed in Sri Lanka so far. Everything from our arrival to our emotional departure was completely outstanding. Ganesh and his lovely and highly dedicated staff made everything run close to perfection. The cottages are located in front of a peaceful lake and endless tea plantations, they are very well...

The two Castlereigh Family Cottages, almost Alpine in appearance, occupy a quiet and tranquil elevated shoreline setting in rural hill country just south of Dickoya. The cottages make a good base for an ascent of Adam's Peak the next morning, the Dalhousie starting point being about an hour's drive away. Our cottage (Cottage 1 on the website), whilst a little...

We chose to stay here as we were looking for a two bedroom place close to the tea plantations. The cottage is in a great setting overlooking the reservoir and it is right in the middle of the tea plantations. The staff are really friendly here and accommodated all our requests. We had breakfast and dinner here and the food...

We stayed here in order to climb Sri Pada (Adams Peak), a bit more than an hour away by tuk-tuk. Anything closer was already booked out but we were happy with our choice as it turned out, because this place is very peaceful and calm and relaxing, and we needed a bit of a break by then from the traffic...

Since my first review of this cottage we have since visited it 3 more times and taken along 8 more people as well who have all fallen in love with it. This is really no surprise as the service just keeps getting better every time we go there. I really must mention Mr. Ganesh the manager, there are many upmarket...

When you sit on the balcony of one of these cottages and watch the water the trees, the tea and mountains you get into a trance and never want to come out. I cannot believe these are work related visits! I have come here over 25 times on work and still every time is better than the last. Ganesh the...

This place exceeded all our expectations! I called to make our reservations and Ashok was extremely friendly and helpful. When we arrived, we were totally charmed. There are two bungalows ("cottage" just sound too flimsy for what these are) sitting on magical Castelreigh Lake, with wide front porches and surrounded by Eucalyptus trees and tea bushes. The tea pickers waved...

We stayed in the cottage for 2 nights after an exhausting trek to the Knuckle Range and there could be no better place for us to relax! We wished we could have stayed longer. The cottage is clean and comfortable, the host is very helpful and polite. In fact it was the best customer service ever experienced by us in...

THis was our favorite stop on our trip to Sri Lanka. The cottages sit on a lake that looks like a surreal painting. The staff saw to our every need and the cottage we stayed in was beautiful, comfortable and clean. I strongly recommend you eat dinner at Castlereigh. The young man who did the cooking was a genius! It...

We stayed here for 1 night following our climb of Adams Peak - just what we needed! These cottages are situated amongst tea plantations and eucalyptus trees with a nice view overlooking the castlereigh reservoir. Unlike anywhere else in Sri Lanka this place is actually very quiet and good for some rest and relaxation. The cottages were quite comfortable, the...

“If you'd like a particular meal when you arrive just call ahead and tell Mr.ganesh. Also, cottage 1 is ideal for a family of 4. 2 is great for about 8. there's a great loft that the kids can sleep in and its their own private playhouse.”

“The only small criticism I have to the place was that the bathroom in the back bedroom had an unfortunate sewage smell (typical of Sri Lankan plumbing, I later discovered). If you keep the lid on the commode closed and keep the bathroom door closed then it's not really a bother. Also, hot water for showers can be limited so leave some time between showers for the water to heat up.”

“1. Book cottage 1, it is the better one, cottage 2 is more suited to a bunch of guys roughing it out. 2. This is castlereigh FAMILY cottages. the name is important as there are other variations along the way. 3. Take your own shampoo/toothbrushes but towels will be provided 4. It is about 25 mins away from Food city in hatton, which is quite well stocked”
