Had a very pleasant stay. Fantastic breakfast. The Britannia team are the best. So friendly and hard working. I have been in many times before to eat and drink. This was the first time I had stayed overnight. Very comfortable warm room and quiet. Its a great business. If it is ever for sale I would by in a flash...

Older world charm and a proper northern welcome with real ale, roaring open fire and belly warming food sum this place up perfectly. After a long wet walk there is nothing better than seeing the fire glowing through the windows of this village centre pub. The car park is slightly cramped but there is a small NT car park across...

Visited the Britannia last week after a walk for a spot of lunch. Had the ploughman's lunch and my wife had the burger. Burger was excellent and my wife really enjoyed it. I thought the ploughman's was pretty good as well though too much rabbit jock for me! Had a couple of pints of Bluebird which was great. One downside...

Spent a long weekend here with a group, some of whom are regular visitors and I was curious to see if their previous rave reviews were justified - THEY WERE. The Brit is a great traditional pub in a fabulous location. No TV or blaring music in the bars just a warm welcome, great atmosphere , fabulous beer and food...

We stayed at the Britannia Inn for a weekend's fell walking. The setting in Elterwater is perfect: so picturesque in the centre of the village. There isn't a great deal of parking nearby but we struck lucky on both nights. When you walk through the door you're met by old-fashioned decor and red swirly carpets that seem quite out of...

Stayed here for a few days in February. Can not fault it, even though it was very busy (mid week too!!), we loved sitting by the many fires in the small quaint rooms! The food was good and the staff friendly! Our room was warm and cosy with everything we needed. The breakfast was a good selection and set us...

Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are always helpful and friendly. When we have stayed at the Inn it has...

Our second visit to the Britannia Inn, the first was 25 years ago! It is a comfortable, relaxed, friendly Inn, in a superb location. We enjoyed great beer and good food ( excellent venison steaks) and wine during our 2 night stay. Staff are friendly. The rooms are small, but ours (room 4) had a very large comfortable bed, the...

The Britannia Inn is located in a magical setting in a beautiful Lakeland valley. We've been coming to Elterwater and Great Langdale for over 30 years and the Britannia Inn never fails to hit the mark. The staff are so friendly and accommodating, you are spoilt for choice with so many real ales, there is fantastic wholesome food ... and...

A gem of a pub. Been here a few times in the past recent one being last night with hubby and friends. Food and staff excellent but have yet to do an overnight stay so can't comment on rooms! Will definitely come here again next time we are in Cumbria!
