Arco Iris means “Rainbow” in Portuguese, and was built on a sprawling, 1.5 acre terraced property which overlooks a seasonal lake. This supplements the water requirements of the surrounding paddy fields. The proximity to the lake and the Zuari, the abundant greenery in and around the property, ensure a picturesque Goan setting throughout the year. The house itself is styled along colonial Portuguese lines with a high plinth, imposing columns, high ceilings and offers excellent natural ventilation throughout the year. It has been restored, true to its heritage and without compromising the modern day amenities that have come to be associated with the changes in lifestyle since the early 19th century.During the restoration process, all efforts were made to preserve the original materials which had originally gone into the construction of the house by using them, at times, for alternate purposes. The end result is a house which reflects a judicious and tasteful blend of the modern and the traditional. With a built up area of around 7,000 sq feet, the house comprises an “entrada” (foyer), “sala” (living room), dining room, four guest bedrooms with attached bathrooms and a fully equipped modern kitchen. Three of the bedrooms open onto private balconies. It also has a “balcao” (balcony) in front and a courtyard at the rear. The “balcao”, is the most social part of the house where any daily activity, be it catching up with neighbours, reading morning newspapers, eating , or just plain lazing can be enjoyed. The “sala” or the high ceilinged living room is reserved for formally receiving and entertaining visitors. The dining room is dominated by the dining table which can comfortably seat 8. All bedrooms have been suitably modified to accommodate attached bathrooms with modern amenities. The bedroom colours have been chosen keeping in mind the colours of the rainbow. There is plenty of space to read in the lounges, the dining room, or outdoors in the verandah.

We stayed for 3 nights in September 2021 in the Indigo Room. The stay was very comfortable. Benni and Ganesh are lovely hosts. The heritage house is maintained very well. Ratul, the manager cum cook made the stay even more comfortable. He was available to help with any small requests that we may have. We had a great time. Benni was always around to answer any touristy questions we may have, even Zomato ordering suggestions. Accidentally left my charger and Benni was very understanding and sent it to Delhi as well. Will definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family.

Aesthetic, spacious, clean and fresh interesting corners offering different settings for unwinding, pleasant domestic help , sumptuous though simple home-cooked breakfast, plenty of music and books, a lake with a raft of ducks paddling busily, close to places to soak in what Goa is known for...churches ,beaches and markets. We were 12 of us from 19 years to 80 years' age group. All of us felt at home . All of this possible because of a warm couple behind the show! Ganesh and Benita were charming hosts. Were with us for a lot of the time and left us to ourselves for a lot of the time! Strongly recommend a stay for large doses of relaxation and de-stressing.

Our trip to Arco Iris for my mother’s 80th birthday was truly memorable. The resort was in a gracious mansion that was aesthetically pleasing. The hosts were simply exceptional, catering to our every need and even going beyond hostly duties to bake a birthday cake for mom. The environment was very conducive for a large family reunion and with much laughter, music, wine and cake it was truly a vacation to remember. I would gladly recommend this place to all who are seeking a getaway!

My wife and I spent two criminally short nights at Arco Iris and the more I think about how best to describe this place, the more confounded I get about how I can explain what this place meant to us. I am nonetheless going to give it a try. Arco Iris is an absolute gift to all of us. Especially artists and musicians. The kind of internal contemplation and slowing down this place can induce is unparalleled by any other place I've been to so far. All I did for 2 days was sit and think and read and play music. It's peaceful beyond belief. The house is absolutely tastefully decorated and not one corner of it has been overdone or neglected. Everything looks just right and the fact that its 220 years old with a rich and deep history only adds massive amounts of charm to the place. The hosts, Ganesh and Benita are wonderfully welcoming, homely and made our experience there feel like a second home. We spent most of our time there in the premises of the house and the garden because it felt silly to leave such a beautiful place and go do something else. This place has everything one needs for an absolute and much needed slowing down that anyone from the city like us needs desperately. The facilities here are aplenty. Food is excellent and the breakfast we got as part of our package was delicious and made for a morning much looked forward to. This place is very easily approachable by road and is located in a dangerously perfect spot overlooking a lake people by several birds during sunsets. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a contemplative, restful, refreshing, quiet, natural and wholesome holiday. The people are wonderful, the place is run perfectly and lastly and most importantly, it is nothing short of what heaven if it were a place, would feel like. My wife and I cannot wait to revisit this again and we are thinking of making this an annual if not more feature in our holiday plans.

Dear Abhay, Thank you for your lovely review. Truth be told, it was more our pleasure hosting you and Shweta and we look forward to welcoming you again soon. Delighted to note that a visit to Arco Iris will be part of your annual/ half yearly holiday itinerary. The experience of listening to you playing the guitar during daybreak has been one of our most profound and moving thus far as homestay hosts. We will treasure the memory. Thank you for blessing the home with the sounds of your music. Greedy as we are, we look forward to more such instances !! All the very best to you and Shweta. Take care & stay safe. Beni & Gani
