Arco Iris means “Rainbow” in Portuguese, and was built on a sprawling, 1.5 acre terraced property which overlooks a seasonal lake. This supplements the water requirements of the surrounding paddy fields. The proximity to the lake and the Zuari, the abundant greenery in and around the property, ensure a picturesque Goan setting throughout the year. The house itself is styled along colonial Portuguese lines with a high plinth, imposing columns, high ceilings and offers excellent natural ventilation throughout the year. It has been restored, true to its heritage and without compromising the modern day amenities that have come to be associated with the changes in lifestyle since the early 19th century.During the restoration process, all efforts were made to preserve the original materials which had originally gone into the construction of the house by using them, at times, for alternate purposes. The end result is a house which reflects a judicious and tasteful blend of the modern and the traditional. With a built up area of around 7,000 sq feet, the house comprises an “entrada” (foyer), “sala” (living room), dining room, four guest bedrooms with attached bathrooms and a fully equipped modern kitchen. Three of the bedrooms open onto private balconies. It also has a “balcao” (balcony) in front and a courtyard at the rear. The “balcao”, is the most social part of the house where any daily activity, be it catching up with neighbours, reading morning newspapers, eating , or just plain lazing can be enjoyed. The “sala” or the high ceilinged living room is reserved for formally receiving and entertaining visitors. The dining room is dominated by the dining table which can comfortably seat 8. All bedrooms have been suitably modified to accommodate attached bathrooms with modern amenities. The bedroom colours have been chosen keeping in mind the colours of the rainbow. There is plenty of space to read in the lounges, the dining room, or outdoors in the verandah.

Arco iris is a 200 year old villa nestled in a lazy and beautiful village in South Goa. The villa itself is gorgeous and is so silent that you can hear the leaves rustle. It was an ideal place for us since it was situated away from the hustle bustle and we had very little to worry about the pandemic. Benny & Ganesh were gracious hosts and they made us feel at home. They have turned the villa into an ecosystem. When we stayed we were the only guests so we were extremely lucky to have the entire place to ourselves. Ratul who was the cook and the caretaker would satiate all of our demands. He cooks delicious food( the dosas were too die for) and also entertains us with stories. We are definitely looking forward to visit Arco Iris again. May be a longer stay next time around.

It’s hard to describe in words the wonderful experience I had at Arco lris. If I were to describe the place in one word ‘Tranquil’ is what comes to my mind. With an old world charm. Ganesh and Bennita are the warm wonderful hospitable and gracious hosts who made our stay so memorable. We were a group of family and friends gathered to celebrate the 80th birthday of my aunt’s close friend. The arrangements were all done by my cousins and I had no clue what was in store for me except to look forward to being together with the group. We arrived amidst heavy rains. It was dark and pouring and as we drove past the lake I knew right then it was going to be a great location. Suddenly as we turned in to the gate this beautiful house emerged in front of me. I was already in love with the place. The next 4 days were just happy and joyful. By the time we left it felt like Ganesh and Bennita were part of our family. Their daughter baked a delicious cake specially for aunty’s 80th. We were so touched by this lovely gesture. Ratul fed us with such tasty food. He never got tired of our endless requests for chai and coffee and always served them enthusiastically with his smile. He kept us smiling with his sense of humour. I am not very comfortable with dogs Feni turned out to be an exception. He even posed for a picture with me. Arco Iris is an absolutely delightful place. All the rooms including the bathrooms are spacious and nicely done up. There is a lot of space around the house and a wonderful view of the lake with lilies and birds flying in and out in the front. I was mostly sitting in front of the house and gazing outside mindlessly that was also meditative for me. Away from the maddening crowd a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. When I left the place though I didn’t have the heart to I had decided I would go back and also tell my friends and relatives to experience this beautiful place. I am now back home with fresh energies and happy memories. I wish Ganesh and Bennita all the very best and thank them for giving us such a FABULOUS HOLIDAY

When you spend time at Arco Iris you become a better person. Period. It is impossible not to get profoundly affected by the charms of this graceful homestay set in the quiet country-side of south east Goa. This charming place is everything you'd want it to be - colourful, bright, airy and hugely spacious with tastefully done rooms. Benita and her family have painstakingly built this gem of a home with an eye for detail - that you start to wonder why we so often waste time & money on resort stays devoid of any character. An absolute bucket list item - one needs at least 3 days to soak in the quaint life at Curtorim. While you're there, do some bird watching at the majestic Communidade lake right at your doorstep. Tip: go in with moderate expectations on food and you will not be disappointed. While service is pleasant, keep in mind the variety of dishes is akin to a home kitchen.

From the time we found Arco - soon after Beni and Ganesh started it - I have stayed over 6 or 7 times at Arco and each time has been better than the last, A bit like red wine, Arco only seems to improve with age. I cann't recommend it more. Our favourite season and month for Arco is July. Somehow, even the people they attract are worth spending with and chatting up while one stays. My last trip was November 2021. And I can't wait to go again.
