This small collection of villas is positioned between the village of Stavros and Polis beach (both within easy walking distance). The accommodation is beautifully maintained by Sophia the resident owner. It is all very new and well kept. A little more expensive than the average perhaps but well worth it in terms of value for money. A very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Just as you drive into Stavros town in the north of the island, you take a left just before the church and drive down a narrow winding road for a short distance to find Asterida Villas on your right. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and were the only guests and so had the pool to ourselves. Stavros itself is small and isn't well-appointed with restaurants, so we mainly drove the short distance to the small port of Frikes to eat by the sea. However, anyone with an interest in archaeology may find the excavations at the School of Homer interesting. Despite the name, this is now reckoned to be the site of the palace of Odysseus, where excavations began some twelve or so years ago, but had to be abandoned when Greece suffered virtual bankruptcy with the massive slump about 2007-8. The accommodation was roomy and comfortable, the air-conditioning was fine, and the location was stunning. One helpful thing I should mention is to be careful when getting into the pool, especially if at all unsteady on your feet. The pool liner moulding for the steps has become slightly uneven. The first step is fine, but when you step onto the second it slopes away from you, which risks you slipping and falling backwards. The third step, on the other hand, has gone the other way. It's not a big deal - but it's better to be aware, especially for children and elderly.

We stayed at Asterida with our families and rented the entire complex for our wedding week. The accommodation was fantastic. The villas are perfectly located near the town of Stavros where you can walk up and have lovely dinners, coffee and desserts. The facilities at Asterida are clean, air conditioned and equipped with everything you need. The staff are friendly, easy to work with and extremely helpful. The sea view of Polis Bay is breathtaking. I highly recommend Asterida and would stay there again in a heartbeat!

My husband and I stayed for one week mid June after spending a week in kefalonia. We found the accommodation excellent and the position of it was gorgeous. It was close to friskes and kioni which were lovely and where we tended to eat in the evenings. The utensils in the villa were not extensive if you were looking to do self catering however for us we ate out so it made no difference. The bed linen and towels were changed every couple of days and everything was first class. If we wanted another quiet chilled week we would definately return.

Asterida Villas, a great place to stay in Northern Ithaca a short stroll to the village of Stavros which is full of some very friendly locals. Our villa was very well appointed for a self cateering holiday, excellent cleanliness and support from the hosts, Evi, Sophia and Christo was second to none. We loved sitting on our deck at the end of each day taking in that special view accross the pool down to Poli Bay while having 'happy hour' sampling the local wine. The overall facilities at Asterida provide a feeling that you are staying at 'that special place' and we would not hesitate to stay here again in the future. If Asterida is on your list of accomodation considerations dont hesitate to say yes, you will not be dissapointed.

I've been with my family for a week, and I 'd like to share with everybody my experience. Fantastic place, excellent apartment, very helpful staff. The two-floor apartment was very spacious and convenient, the view towards the sea was astonishing, the hotel was near the sea, and also near the village of Stavros. The pool bar gives a very good choice to order breakfast and have a coffee, before going to the sea, or starring at the sea sunset. Sophia, Hristos and Mimika are always there, with a smile, ready to serve and help you to everything. Worth going to Ithaca and stay in Asterida Villas, don't hesitate.

This is an excellent 5 villa complex in the village of Stavros on the island of Ithaca. I booked with some reservation as to what we would find, but was really happy with what we got. The rooms were spotless and cleaned daily - despite it really not needing much! The bed was comfy and having the full size kitchen made it really tempting to come back, stock up and just stay here for two weeks! Or more! The staff were uber friendly and great to have the bar at the pool. Lovely pool by the way. As there are only 5 villas, the pool and poolside area was never crowded like you get in large hotel complexes. The bar was open from around 9 in the morning (great for a coffee and breakfast under the cool canopy) until the last person leaves at night. It's far enough away from the villas not to cause any disturbance to the residents. Great view of Polis beach from the rooms and bar. Only niggles I had was a shower handle that was too short to reach the hook for it and the aircon remote was in a drawer that I didn't see until later, after fiddling with the central heating controls instead! Once I found the control, the AC worked like a charm as the doors and windows had excellent seals to keep the cool air in and warm air out. Price wise I found it extremely good value for what we got. I was surprised to find amenities like soaps, shower and hair gel in what essentially is a self catering apartment. Dish washing soap and clean sponges and dish towels were also provided. The kitchen was well stocked. Ithaca is quite a hilly island, and the resort is a few minutes walk down a hill which isn't bad, but the walk up may be a little hard on the infirm and unfit. Parking is available however and a car is a good way to see the rest of the island as the bus service is limited to twice a day. The village of Stavros has a bakery, grocery stores, restaurants, bars and coffee shops to while a way the hours. Margaritas coffee shop sells a traditional Ithacan dish of Rovani that it worth trying if you are there. Also loved the club sandwich there too! Overall, an excellent complex maintained extremely well by the fantastically friendly staff. Look forward to another visit soon. The rooms even have a fireplace that would make this great even for winter retreat!

We had planned to stay for 2 nights but extended our stay because the accommodation and location suited us very well. There are 3 2-bed villas and 2 1-bed villas, all well equipped with comfortable beds and good quality furnishings. Overall, this was one of the nicest places we have ever found in Greece. The villas are situated at the top of the road down to Polis Bay, around 3-5 minutes walk into Stavros, which we liked very much. It is an authentic Greek town, with a selection of shops, cafes and restaurants (Polyphemus was our favourite). We also found another excellent restaurant called Yefuri, in the next village called Platreithias, which we walked to in under half an hour. Asterida's owner, Sophia, could not have been more helpful. The villas are spotlessly clean, and have great views across to Cephalonia. The pool bar only operates in the main season. There was no wifi in the villa but there is free wifi in the village square, a few minutes away. If we return to Northern Ithaca we would definitely choose to stay here again.

We stayed for one week in the best room in the hotel at 210 euro a night, we expected something a lot more than what we got. Clean swimming tiles were a privilege the owner said she could not wash them daily so we had filthy towels for 1 week. The cleaning lady is very sweet but truly doesn't do a good mops the floor with a filthy mop that smells and washed the dishes and cant pack anything back so the plates sit wet on the counter until you come home to pack them away for 1 week the coffee table was not even wiped! The price does not include even breakfast or a snack! We would not go back to this hotel even though the view, pool and rooms were very nice it seems good on the outside but the other things are FAR BELOW average for what we paying.
