The topside scenery around this resort is stunning to behold. And the diving is certainly good, if not great (due to large amount of damage from former explosive fishing practices.) However, this really was the most expensive and difficult to reach resort I have ever been to in three decades of dive travel. Coming from LAX it took 2 days...

Misool Eco-Resort offers a stunning aquatic experience, currently oriented towards diving enthusiasts, without skimping on the comfort that provides for a well-needed rest at the end of a long day above or below the surface of the crystal clear waters. As others on Tripadvisor have noted, the quality of the food is in a league of its own, easily challenging...

I have dived and snorkeled extensively throughout the world and I have never had a more enjoyable week of diving than the one I just spent at Misool Ecoresort. Every dive was at a minimum very good and many were fantastic. From pygmy seahorse to manta and mobular rays, from schools of large bumphead wrasse to ornate ghost pipefish, from...

One thing you have to remember if you are lucky enough to come to Misool is that it is VERY remote. It is a place for travellers, not tourists. You will not find infinity pools or golden lapelled waiters serving drinks that look like forests, but what you will find is an absolutely stunning island (or rather, two islands connected...

The Misool Eco Resort is the BEST...not because it is the perfect combination of natural luxury, amazing culinary delights, wonderful spa treatments and the spectacular diving in such a remote area...it is the best because this resort has been created in harmony with our world - working with local villages to construct the villas, creating a no-take zone and protecting...

Extremely good location, friendly staff and relaxed ambience. Snorkelling on the house reef was worth every euro! The boat ride from Sorong to Misool was long and demanding for a family but I hear they have a more modern and safer boat now. It was absolutely worth it though. The management at Misool is nice, skilled and service minded.

The dive masters were very skilled, professional and fun. Andrew and Marit are two devoted managers who runs the place very succesfully. The local staff were friendly and keen on trying to understand and help. It is an amazing world under the surface that is waiting for you to see in Raja Ampat! Our luxury villa were great! We saw...

I'm not sure I know where to start, so I'm going to break things into specific groups. Getting Here: Getting to MER is not for the faint of heart, or for those less traveled. It is quite a haul from the USA (5 planes and a boat from Dallas, TX). As long as you start the trip with the understanding...

We have recently returned from our belated honeymoon at Misool. The positives of our trip were impacted by a series of in some cases, severe safety and management failure and must be highlighted. The location of the resort is spectacular, a real paradise in the middle of nowhere. The efforts of the owners with regards to the no take zone...

Management response:

I was truly sorry to hear of your unsatisfactory stay with us at the resort. I’d like to respond to some of your comments, to clarify why these things happened and where we have learned from and improved. With regards to the speed-boat ride down, it was very unfortunate that the boat broke down on the way. We had been...
