After the relative luxury of My Nature Resort, Abai Jungle Lodge was much more like what we expected. The lodges were clean and tidy and modestly equipped. We had a good ceiling fan and even the option of air-con (at extra cost), a good shower and comfortable beds. The food was perfectly acceptable and similar to what we had experienced...

Dear John_and_Kath, Thanks for your feedback on both of the accommodations. It's great to heard that you enjoyed the trip and both places. Hehe... Abai Jungle Lodge is favorite of many of our guests due to it remoteness, it's surrounding by the untouched forest, along the Kinabatangan River and the one and only accommodations around the area. It's quiet and...

We reached the place by boat from Sandekan in the Sabah region of Borneo, and were warmly welcomed by the staff at arrival. Stayed two nights in comfortable rooms with fans ensuring an Ok temperature in the nighttime. Great food served in the mainbuilding at the riverside or in special breakfast place at the jungle board walk. Great sightings of...

The Abai lodge is a great choice. It is a shortish boat ride from Sandakan. The boat trip is great fun but it is worth taking ear plugs as the engines are noisy. The lodge is comfortable and well laid out, with boardwalks into the forest. The rooms are a good size, very clean and air con was not needed....

We had a lovely time here. We stayed in two rooms, that were basic but had everything we needed. We didn't upgrade to aircon as a cool shower before bed and the ceiling fan were more than adequate. Our guide Abbas really made our trip special. he was amazing at spotting wildlife and managed to chat non stop. We saw...

The wildlife is the highlight. The lodge has boardwalks through the jungle, and we saw proboscis monkeys, plenty of birds, monitor lizards, and bearded pigs while wandering around. The main attraction is the wildlife cruises, and we got great views of proboscis monkeys (5 metres or so away), plus plenty of other monkeys, and two orang utans! The lodge was...

Dear EmberEL, Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to know you enjoyed the tours. The bearded pigs were a family, the first one come to us is the father (we named it Junior, after the guide who found it). Then, Junior brought his children to the area. Now they stay at the lodge area from time to time....

Stayed at this lodge in May, part of a Just You group. Best part of the holiday. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Young members of staff brilliant! Board walks around the lodge fab. Food excellent. Now just need to plan a return visit.

Isolated amidst dense jungle on the banks of the Kinabatangan River Abai Jungle Lodge is a superb location to spot a huge variety of wildlife. Don't expect this to offer the Luxury's of a Hotel but what it does offer is the experience of sleeping in the jungle surrounded by wildlife. Dear EEuropeanDreamer, Thank you for your kind feedback. Yup, wildlife searching river cruise always be the highlight of our tours.
