We stayed two nights at the Abai Jungle Lodge and it was outstanding. The room was very basic and although lacking air conditioning, we had no problem sleeping at night. The food that was provided was just great for all of the breakfast, lunch and dinners – served buffet style. Coffee and Tea is also available 24 hours per day!...

This place (and its sister lodge further down the river) were just lovely. The staff were super friendly, the food was absolutely incredible and the surroundings are magnificent. The room is basic but clean and a really good size. We happened to be the only guests staying there one night and as we were on our honeymoon the staff went...

We had one half of a detached Villa, with a good deal of space before the other half. The room was huge and clean, but only marginally well lit. The air conditioning worked extremely well, and we recommend it since not all rooms have air conditioning. Given the fact that you are in the middle of the jungle, breakfast was...

From the minute you get on the boat to go to Abai its an experience - the rooms are basic but I was pleasantly surprised had not bugs in!! We paid extra for the Air con which was well worth it. The food was brilliant and loved the Banana Friters in the afternoon! We saw an Orangutan in the wild...

We loved all the wildlife we saw both around the Lodge and on the river. An unforgettable experience. We were two adults and two children and had adjoining rooms. The only thing that could improve the lodge would be air conditioning. We had a brilliant night walk and river trips. Our guide Bryant was exceptional.

Dear inm222, Thank you for your feedback. It is a pleasure to serve you. Hope you had a wonderful memory from Borneo. FYI, the lodge is located in the jungle and a remote area where no government electricity and water supply. We promote environmental friendly practice and try to minimize energy usage here. However, due to high demand on air-conditioning...

A good base from which to explore the river and local wildlife by boat. Lots of monkeys, crocs, birdlife and butterflies. Sadly failed to spot, though we could hear, the pygmy elephants. The lodge is basic and the food pretty average. We did however enjoy the walkways and observation towers, between the intermittent downpours.

Firstly after reading some of the other reviews I'd like to make anyone thinking of visiting aware that Abai is in the middle of a jungle! You cannot expect 5* hotels and wifi! The lodge is located on the Kinabatangan River and goes back into the jungle. It is a stunning location and the jungle is truly alive! Getting off...

We travelled as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids age 6 and 11) on a multi destination trip around Borneo and this was our favourite part by far. Fantastic wildlife, amazing guide (thank you Albert), great food and a chance to see animals in their natural habitat - what more could you want! We thought that the...

This lodge is great for seeing lots of macaques in the jungle around the lodge. There are also large monitor lizards and bearded wild boar families around. With at least 2 canoe trips each day to differnet parts of the river as well as times, we were able to see so much. The kingfishers asleep on branches on a night...

reasonable quality food and accommodation with a wonderful boardwalk around the whole complex which gets you up close with nature. Well worth a visit. it is well worth doing early morning and night time cruises to live the full experience when the wildlife is at its most active.
