1. Booked using booking.com, then called to say we'd arrive in evening (8PM). 2. After arriving at 8 PM, the maid had to help us find a room, because the office was closed on a Friday evening although we had called ahead. 3. An hour later, owner and two other people came and start screaming at us to pay for...

Stayed at this hotel for one night since we came to ban phe too late so the ferries had stopped running. It was ok for just one night but otherwise poor standard and quite confusing since when we arrived it all looked to be closed but we finally found someone who worked there. Broken lamps in the room and a...

I booked this hotel by mistake for my weekend get away to koh Samet. It's at Ban phe. So you take a bus to Ban Phe from Bangkok to reach here. This hotel is very near to the pier from where you can get the ferry to the islands. It is better to stay on one of the hotels on...

Terrible hotel, but the best things is near the pier! And if the hotel can change the better room door locker, it will be better! It's good for one night only and for travellers who need to go to Koh Samet in the morning!

This is a hotel for those who only need 1 night sleep and then move to koh samet early in next morning. You will get what you paid for, big clean room/rock hard bed/Air con and shower. But the down side is the shower with hot water is extremely weak, I finally give it up and use the cool water...

I booked this hotel to get a few hours sleep before getting the morning ferry over to Koh Samed. The rooms were clean enough for the price and the location is very close to the pier, which is the only reason I booked. Don't expect much and you wont be disappointed. It is what it is - a budget hotel.

Location. Very close to the Pier where the boats leave for Koh Samet. While it fronts the main road, the restaurant and gardens at the front make the resort very quiet and private. The resort is an easy walk to the nearby shops and a few nearby cafe's and restaurants. A slightly longer walk to the markets, but well within...

The stay at Mac Garden was exactly what we were after. We arrived on a bus from Bangkok at about 8pm and left at 9am to catch a ferry to Koh Samet. The standard room was comfortable and clean. It was twin beds and mine was broken but I still slept fine. I would stay again if I was heading...

Being in Thailand travelling for a month with my boyfriend, this was the only hotel we checked out of early from the dozen or so we stayed in. We stayed in a bungalow which was ok, but one of the lights didn't work and the bathroom was very dirty - bugs everywhere and very dingey! The food was also disgusting....

“1. Local beaches if you aren't going to go to Koh Samet are not clean for the most part. Watch out for glass and other debris, not the mention the stray dogs. You need to catch public transport (such as the blue songthaew), to get to a good beach. 30-40 minutes or more in either direction will take you to some cleaner beaches. Of course, Koh Samet is lovely and catching a public ferry is the way to go. I got talked into taking a speedboat out the first time, but took a ferry back. The ferry takes long, but is far cheaper. I also got some of the best pictures of my trip, as locals will make papaya salad and serve up other treats right on the boat. Very fun. 2. A few notes re: the mosquitos. They are bad at Mac Garden and likely elsewhere in Ban Phe. Mac Gardens has some lovely water features that don't have running all the time, so what happens is it will be fine when the water is running or the day after, then the mosquitos lay eggs in the standing water and within two days after they've run the water and for days after, the mosquitos are unrelenting. Wear repellant generously. 3. The 7-11 is a great landmark for getting your bearings. Right across the street there is a good pier to take off from. Remember there's the public ferry so don't get tricked into thinking you have to hire a speed boat to Koh Samet. Just know the ferries returning stop between 4 and 6 p.m. returning, but you can always pay the extra bucks and get a speed boat anytime you want. 4. There's a little locals store right by 7-11 that closes at 6 p.m. daily. If you want to exchange money, they give a descent rate for $100/ bills, less if you have a lesser denomination. 5. For longer stays they'll give you a mini-fridge and extra hangers if you ask. However, when I asked for a mini-fridge this time around (was staying 3 nights) I was told no. I'd ask if you want one. I think it depends on whose working as I know they have several in the storage shed. I don't know if the bungalow have them. I'd figure they should for the extra price. 6.”
