I'd advice people to stay at sulthan bathery which is like not too far from all the popular tourist attractions in wayanad. This hotel is pretty decent, offering clean rooms, hygienic bathrooms and an okayish view. But, there are other hotels which offer better view at the same price range

easy to locate, good view only from the top floor. we were the only occupants of this huge mansion. Considering the rooms and location the tariff of about Rs. 3000 is good compared to the others holding out for Rs. 7000 ( wynad is costly). Quiet place. No boarding, so carry food or get out.

First and foremost, i was surprised when i reached the resort! Its situated on top of a little hill, and the view from its balcony is astonishingly green. there used to be fog in the morning, which made it better. the only downside could be that its more of a guest-house than a resort. there are no solitary shacks, but brick-mortar rooms. However, the rooms were too good. they were clean, the bed was huge, and the lighting and other furnitures added well to its overall aesthetics. Food was awesome. I had conveyed to the hotel-staff about my problem with coconut oil, and so they brought it for me cooked in sunflower oil. The staff was so friendly and courteous that it made me feel wierdly guilty for unknown reasons. there were a few insects and mosquitos at night (coz of the location, and not the hotel's fault), so just bring a repellent and you are golden. there are 1-2 shops nearby, but they have almost everything a tourist might need there. Also, there's a Cafe Coffee day very close to it, a pleasant and rare site in that wilderness. the hotel is connected well to the main-road, but avoid using public transport as the language barrier is a huge problem (a typical wayanadian hardly speaks english or hindi). take your own car or shed big money on a cab.

My wife and I stayed here while on a driving trip of Wayanad. We had no clue of where we were staying that night, and I happened to see the signboard and gave them a call. The friendly manager guided us exactly to the spot - and my, what a spot! The resort (hotel) is located on a winding drive up a hill in between a hotel management campus - just the kind of interesting locale I love. This arrangement makes it a little less popular with the straight faced finicky traveler used to corporate stays, but was perfect for the two of us. The view from the balcony was astonishing. Apparently, being bang on the border between Calicut and Wayanad, the hotel looks over the vast ghat road leading right down to Calicut. At night we walked a short walk to a restaurant nearby (even though Greeshmam arranges dinner) and loved the experience. The famous Chain-Tree is right next to Greeshmam, and is a must see for the history attached to it. Greeshmam is a total 'recommend'!

Now digest this - the manager told us that half of the hotel lies in Calicut district and the other half in Wayanad. And due to some legal/government order, they have to keep the calicut side of the hotel shut (they can not let out those rooms) - sad, but true. This hotel is very livable, the rooms are pretty spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom is clean. But it should not be called a 'resort'. It is situated on National Highway at one end of Wayanad district (the boundry is less than 200 feet away). But the view from the hotel (and possibly room) is breathtaking. We spent 2 nights there and it was raining most of the time. The view of the clouds and the valley was awesome. A famous view point (at the entrance of ghats) is close-by. You also get view of tea/coffee estates. The breakfast is included in the package and is pretty good. They also serve lunch/dinner - giving some advance notice helps. The restaurant is small and can do with better and cleaner chairs/tables. The service is good and staff is helpful. They do not have a covered parking, you got to park the car on the road. The rooms have LCD TVs with most of the commonly watched hindi/english/regional channels. A hotel management college is close-by and their hostel is in the adjacent building. It may get noisy due to that, but when we went there the college was closed. There is a nice walk/trek up the hill to another resort (a real resort) 3 kms away from Greeshmam. We did that early in the morning and loved it. Another good thing about the hotel is its location - on the national highway but few feet away so that you dont get the traffic noise. Also cafe coffee day (the only one in Wayanad I guess) is very close. It turned out to be the only good restaurant (not couting the hotels/resorts) we found in Wayanad. I would love to go there again, but might be tempted to spend another 1000 a night to stay in a real resort.

It takes 6-7 hrs to reach wayanad from banglore considering breaks in between. When we reached sultan bathery we realised that it is the best n centralised place. So if you plannin 2 go for site seeing and all, try to stay @ sultan bathery. It takes 30 mins to reach Greeshmam resort from Sultan Bathery. When we reached Greeshmam resorts, the 1st impression was pathetic. 1st of all on the way they dont have proper sign board. once you take left from main road, the road is in bad condition which leads 2 Greeshmam. The entrace of the hotel is horrible. The pictures which they provide on their website are real, but when you reach there you'll realise that in reality it doesn't really match with our expectations. Their entrace is not even closed. Only one person to attend the people, and he doesn't understand proper hindi or english. he gave us the room which we have booked, the one with the view. When we entered in the room, it was stinking badly. They metion in the website that they provide LCD TV, but our room was having normal TV. website representative told us that they have restaurant service, but its not the case. They just have dining hall. they have some attached hotel management institute from where they provide food in the room. you can use dining hall to have food. the room was clean. the bath room was clean. but had insects in the room. After sunset you can not sit in balcony as the bats come in there. Also their parking place is not close to the hotel. We were not satisfied with the hotel. So first we tried to call website customer care ppl. But you wont get proper mobile network inside the room. Their intercom phone was not working. So we went down till reception to complaint. When we reached reception, the person told us that, they have some problem, and the landline is not working. Then we had only two options, stay there or shift 2 sum other resort. Then this reception person called their manager. And he told us that they have some five star property name "Vythiri Village resort". We decided to shift there. And checked out on the same day. He co-operated properly, as he came along with us to show the direction. we paid the extra amount other than what we have already paid already. Also we wasted 2 hrs in Greeshmam, so he gave us extra 2 hrs in this resort.
