Taj Ramgarh lodge was originally built about 100 years ago as Hunting lodge for the king. Lobby area & other common areas of the hotel have many taxidermy animals which were hunted back then.

My stay here with family was extremely satisfying & memorable. The place is so peaceful & calm that one could just sit back, relax & ponder over some of the finer things in life that we tend to miss out in our day to day hustle & bustle of city life ! Property is not very huge, having just 14 rooms, but every room is very spacious & royally designed. Sleep quality was excellent. Huge bathroom with massive tub gave a royal feel. Free wifi is available in the room. Overall natural beauty of the place is the highlight. Property is located right on the Ramgarh lake, although sadly there is no water in the lake now. This lake which used to be massive at one point of time. We also loved the superb food and dining experience at this property. Overall food taste, quality and overall preparation of all our meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner was simply superb !

We also went for a small walk to the nearby Jamvai mata temple which is about 1 km from the Taj property. Before you, please ensure that you carry a stick from the Hotel guard to ward off the monkeys all around this place. This temple is believed to be over 1000 years old and is the kuldevi or family deity of Rajputs ! We loved the aarti in the evening.

Overall awesome stay, will come back again for more days to stay !

This small 14 room boutique property that used to be an erstwhile Royal hunting lodge is truly a hidden gem. In a serene location away from the madding crowd this is a perfect get away for a small group of family/friends in magnificent yet soothing retro settings and I did an extended weekend stay with friends reserving 12 rooms.

The rooms are generously sized with modern comforts yet the old-time luxury feel and setting, the property grounds are well manicured giving the feel of a personal large bungalow, the F&B is top class in quality and taste and the team ever willing to customise the guest's whims and fancies.

My compliments to Hotel Manager Jagat and his better half Ritu, for extending very warm hospitality while infusing the magic of 'Tajness' and personalising the interaction with every guest to take care of their needs and comfort, as well as very competently leading and managing the wonderful team at Ramgarh Lodge.

Last, but not the least, many thanks and compliments to IHCL Jaipur Region and the management of IHCL for bringing such wonderful and unique products to it's guests.

We booked 2 rooms at the Gateway Hotel Ramgarh Lodge and had an inkling about the place from the reviews read earlier but were not prepared for what we eventually experienced. Right from the location which is offbeat to the entrance of the resort and the views once you reach the resort are all very different and unexpected. MR GYANCHAND was very hospitable both as an employee and a person.

We visited Ramgarh gateway from 15th to 17th of October and were really excited about it. Over all we had a nice experience but it could have been better specially when it represents a prestigious brand like ‘Taj Gateway’. I will try to be be objective and unbiased as much possible.

Pros:

Its located at a very scenic location and faces the once upon a time lake
It’s a small but maintained property
Good quality home made food
The bathroom is huge though badly maintained (huge stains in the mirroir)
Friendly behaviour of the staff

Cons
• Very Limited options of buffet (only one non veg and one green salad)
• The rooms are pretty ordinary have very limited room amenities (even we had to ask for tea and cofee maker).
• The entrance road leading to the hotel is quite shabby. They can easily make it nice. Unfortunately most hotels in India don’t care about the outside condition of the hotel which they can easily rectify it and make it a nice. We don’t expect this from a property of Gateway.
• No directions in the main road of the hotel location (specially important as around 500 m before the hotel GPRS shows you have reached)
• As we reached late in Day 1 we didn’t take lunch and instead we asked the lunched to be packed in Day 3 at the time of check out. However they were not ready to pack more than one container with one dish though we had 3 people staying

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. We would like to assure you these will be taken up with the concern authorities and the maintenance department . On the limited menu there must have been commination gap from our team as we have 6 to 7 preparation of veg & non veg in the set meal menu . Due to the on going crisis we are not placing most of the amenities in the rooms but are available on demand . Sincerely,

It was an interesting experience to be a guest of this heritage property built by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob in 1920.
Preferred by Maharani Gayatri Devi and her husband, Maharaja Man Singh II, this property has many hunting trophies shot by the Maharaja.
Getting to this property one has to drive through a very narrow road built atop the old dam.
There was only incline throughout the property and getting around and accessing the toilets would be very difficult for persons of reduced mobility.
The front office Manager, Abhipray looked after us very well and enquired about us often though as is the case with properties frequented by more foreigners than Indians, the kitchen staff are spoilt rotten.
Even though we took the meal package and were entitled to eat according to a time suitable to us, the kitchen staff always tried to serve our food as quickly as possible and before the appointed time so that they could run away home.
At night they served us almost cold chicken cutlets.
I even found a shard of broken grass while walking barefoot in the grass surrounding the outside bar area.
The area surrounding the hotel is pristine and beautiful but infested with monkeys and an empty building on top of the dam has been converted into a Hanuman temple leading to regular feedings by locals of these monkeys. You can venture outside the property without carrying a stick and the entire property is surrounded by razor wire and electric fencing.
The plug points in my bathroom were glitchy and I was afraid to plug in the hotel's hair dryer.
I heard that the Taj group is now upgrading this property from a Gateway to a SeleQtions, leading to more tariffs for the same amenities.
All in all I suggest to drive here from Jaipur for lunch as it's only an hour away but staying here is simply not worth it.

Our stay was fantastic nothing short of perfection and it felt very safe in the current chaos. The property is extremely charming, the staff is highly professional courteous hospitable and inclusive - a special mention to the staff at the front office, concierge, in room dining as well as the housekeeping.
Each one made my stay memorable.
They even did a special and beautiful setup for my friend's birthday which was indeed the highlight of our stay. I will keep visiting the property undoubtedly.

Special thanks to Mr. Mool Singh Ji, Mr. Abhipray and Mr. Niranjan Singh Ji.

Reviews are not my usual thing. Rummaging through others' experiences can take away the charm of discovering new places. And I hardly ever write reviews myself. But this visit deserves one.

Ramgarh Lodge is close to Jaipur (30km/20 miles/1 hour). We had picked it as a base to explore Jaipur, in the hope that we could combine the hustle & bustle of Jaipur with the charm of a quiet retreat. But calling this a base does not do it justice. I would urge you to set aside a large chunk of time to enjoy this lodge and its wonderful hospitality.

Architecturally the Lodge is a classic example of its genre, adapting colonial styles to indulge princely extravagance. Externally the building is in a wonderful state, a classic shade of Jaipur pink surrounded by multi-level manicured gardens. Internally, it is organised into just over a dozen very large suites, with really high ceilings. I was told the property was refurbished not long ago, so everything works: the shower, bath, etc were all in perfect functional order. Internet access via wifi was good. My daughter and I tested the well-preserved antique snooker table (found it to be in good order!)

The place is defined by its hospitality. I am always impressed by the range of cuisines that can be churned out in a small kitchen. Do ask to look at the small organic garden attached to the property. I am sure the excellent chefs will introduce themselves to you on some occasion. Together these ingredients make for excellent dining. I urge you to consider breakfast in the garden or dinner by a bonfire. Every one of those was a memorable experience (and the laal maas was as good as I have had anywhere).

Superlative service. Naming individuals risks leaving out the many, many people who combine to make up the orchestra, but let me mention Mool Singh and Gyanchand who were extremely helpful. And Jagat Singh who manages this place with professionalism and charm. Our grateful thanks to everyone else too.

On my return to Delhi my sister told me that they had visited the Lodge 27 years ago, when the artificial lake had enough water to allow her to venture out in a row boat. Comparing notes with her, it seems the wonderful hospitality has survived the last quarter of a century even as the lake dried up. Nothing last forever, so do consider enjoying Ramgarh Lodge while you can.

PS. We had traveled from Delhi in a chauffer driven car. Our driver claimed to be an old Jaipur hand, so we invited him to spend his evenings in Jaipur if that suited him better. After one look at this property, he decided that he would prefer to drive back every evening, telling us about the great food and amenities he had access to.

An absolute delight of a place in the middle of a jungle. What makes it even more pleasing is that the brilliant location is backed by extremely warm and courteous service. The staff is very humble and sweet. Chef Rishi Pal is happy to customize your meals and personally checks that everything is suited to your taste and liking. Overall, a must do!

The venue is excellent, peaceful, free of pollution and noise and one can completely wind down. There were only a few other guests which was fantastic :). The rooms were enormous and we had a large balcony to ourselves. There is a small farm that produces locally grown fruits and veggies; it has facilities like table tennis and badminton. It’s not that far from Jaipur and Ajmer and we visited both places with this as the base. The staff was excellent and it was the usual Taj hospitality that we have experienced before. Nothing was too much for the staff and they did all that they could to make our stay special. On our last day, they organised breakfast for us next to the outdoor pool which was very very good. We had dinner everyday and the food was fantastic. I would just caution that the food can be spicy and you should ask the chef to go easy if you don’t light spices . The stay here was the best part of our India trip.
