The Belgadia Palace hotel captivates guests with its culturally rich atmosphere and charming, spacious rooms adorned with historical elegance. The property's cleanliness and meticulous upkeep consistently earn high marks, as does the attentive service that makes stays memorable. While the hotel's amenities, including the swimming pool and cultural events, are frequently lauded, some travelers express concerns about the value, finding the pricing, especially for the garden historical suite, to be steep. Despite this, the overall experience at Belgadia Palace is celebrated for its traditional charm and comfort.

I had a delightful stay in this beautiful palace during my "rajbari tour" in South Bangal and Odisha. It is situated in a quiet park with mango orchard. This former guest residence of the local royal family was build at the beginning of the 19th century CE and has kept its rich original furniture. It is perfectly maintained and painted with very pleasant bright coulours. The Edo Ballroom is stunning. A huge collection of collection items and royal souvenirs are on display.
I was very friendly welcomed and upgraded to a heritage suite.
All the staff did his best to make my stay the most enjoyable one. The general manager took personnally care of me and he even took me in a car to visit some of the most important places and monuments of the city. The supervisor who assists him was also very nice and helpful. I also got an outstanding service from Mr Himanshu who was not only a best restaurant steward, but also like my personal attendant.
I want to make a special mention of the talented chief cook who prepared for me delicious meals and whose conversation was the most interesting one.
The swimming pool is another plus of this palace and I enjoyed it every day.
I also had the pleasure to attend a fantastic show of the local "chhau dance", which was performed by a young and handsome artist who was really like a reincarnation of a Nataraja.
I highly recommend this place.

Our family stay at the Belgadia was the highlight of our winter trip to India. From the stunning interiors, the rich history of the Mayurbhanj royal family, and the attentive service, this boutique hotel is a very special place. We were upgraded to the Emerald Suite which was a beautifully renovated palace room, with unique and interesting design details, a huge bathroom and space for our kids (kids 4 and 7) to stretch out and play. The renovation of the palace to incorporate guests has been done marvelously by the royal family. We spent several lovely days exploring the grounds, eating delicious meals created with masterful culinary skill by the head chef Joy who checked in regularly with guests and was an interesting person to get to know. Soutam, the hotel manager was extremely helpful and kind to us, helping shape our itinerary and checking in with us throughout our stay. This is a tightly run and elegant palace hotel, a place to slow down, relax, enjoy the Odia cuisine and culture and for a brief period feel like royalty!

A place - Home away from Home with the unique experience of Royalty, Belgadia Palace was a great outing for my family. Our room was upgraded to let us experience the comfort of the palace. Room was very large and furniture, still from those earlier days, but well maintained - give us the experience of those days when the Royal family would be spend their days.
Food - our kids loved and enjoyed. Walk through the garden and around the Palace was a nice experience. The service were very good with caring staffs. A cultural program was orgnised on Saturday evening for the guests.

I will start with the positives. The common areas like the living room inside the palace was lovely to relax in, read or connect with fellow guests. The food is great. A talented chef/ cook. Himanshu, the resident steward, fulfilled his duties quietly and efficiently to make sure we were comfortable. The Mayurbhanj Chau performance in the lovely back garden in the evening was an added bonus.

The negatives now. The higher priced garden historical suite with garden view is outside the palace. Since the windows overlook the entrance way to the hotel, curtains have to be drawn shutting out a view of the rather pedestrian garden. Little inconveniences like switches and lamps that didn’t work, no paper or pens, and the bigger inconvenience of a blocked drain in the shower cubicle😳 Was also surprised to find that the outside suite had no access to the palace after 10 pm blocking access to common areas inside.

To make up for our discomfort, the manager gave us two single rooms inside the palace the next day plus a city tour! . The rooms inside the palace were nicely furnished and overlooked the lush side gardens. A beautiful alternate double room was also offered on the first floor for the next day, but did not take it as it was up two flights of stairs

Was also surprised to read a guest review that said the guests got cooking lessons. I asked for a recipe of a particular dish I enjoyed and was told it is a secret of the royal kitchen😊. In contrast, when I asked for a recipe of chocolate chip cookies in small town Italy, I got a pack of cookies with a printed recipe all beautifully tied with ribbons! I would have enjoyed those cooking demos if offered, as their food was great!

All in all, pleasant enough, but outside suites not recommended! They have limited garden view and tiny living rooms that don’t make up for not having access to the main living room

It was a great experience. The place, the decor, the service and the food was amazing.

The rooms are tastefully decorated with modern amenities and a large beautiful bathroom ( with bathtub) . We stayed at the 3 suites in the first floor. We had the whole sitting area to ourselves. It was a very comfortable stay.

The service was great, anything we wanted was immediately taken care of by Baya and Bijoy.

The food was great, homely and a an amazing menu comprising of Oriya, Bengali and Chinese cuisines , prepared by the Chef Mr Shirsendu and served with care by his team.

Himangshu was particularly helpful is showing us around the palace, and the surrounding areas - Sitakund Falls, Sabai Village, Simplipal Reserve, etc. Not to forget the mesmerizing Chau dance presented by a local troupe in the back garden of the palace in one of the evenings.

Overall, a great, relaxing experience - great service

One thing that was missing was a place for the drivers... hopefully that will also come up soon.

After our plans got cancelled twice before, we finally made it to The Belgadia Palace. We were greeted with drums, chandan tikka after which we were shown to the jewel toned living room and served our welcome drinks (mango sherbet). We booked two Jr Suites which are located on the first floor, there is a no elevator and its 40 flights but worth it. We chose the narayanhity and bengal renaissance suite, which were large rooms with antique furniture, very well decorated and clean.

The Chhau dance was spectacular and don't miss sitting out on the first floor patio.
The food served is mainly north indian & odia dishes (buffet style-chefs special), however, upon request were served Italian.

The staff was very cordial and helpful in showing us around. The property has plenty of board games, croquet & archery to choose from

We visited this awesome property February 25. We were not sure as to how will be our experience in the palace hotel. To our surprise we understand that this unique palace hotel is equipped with great hospitality and services. Rooms are reasonably priced and comfortable enough.to exceed the expectations. Food and its presentation is simply unmatchable. Chef offered us unique local and Nepalese dishes prepared and offered with love has touched our hearts. Princesses of Belgadia has taken much efforts to convert this place in to a cozy and comfortable. Swimming area is neatly maintained.

We wish them best luck in their honest endeavour to become a popular destination.

Situated almost at the centre of the city , Yet you won’t feel the hustle bustle of the city life as it’s a wholesome different experience inside the gate of the belgadia palace .. The palace from the outside is covered by greenery all around where one can truely get away from the chaotic life for a moment.. The interiors are so aesthetic , you will feel every bit of luxury with the royal touch .

We had a fabulous stay at the Belgadia Palace. The palace is set in beautiful surroundings, with an amazing garden, lots of old trees, spacious and well appointment rooms. The best part is absolutely delicious food and the very helpful, always smiling staff.

Its also a great location if you are a birding enthusiast.

Hello, the roads are very smooth and have wide lanes accessible for larger cars. It takes 4 hours from Kolkata so we would recommend leaving early morning to enjoy a fruitful day trip!
