Detailed Reviews
The hotel is set in extensive grounds full of peacocks, parakeets, chipmunks etc. We had a pool villa which was superb with sitting room, bedroom, shower room, courtyard for sitting out and a private swimming pool.
Wifi is available in Reception not in rooms but Reception is a comfortable and attractive place to sit.
The restaurant is attractively furnished with large windows looking out onto the grounds. Breakfast and dinner were buffets with helpful staff to assist.
This is a lovely place to stay, I recommend it.

The contrast from the busy town outside and the huge, peaceful, manicured grounds inside (including own organic vegetable farm) is enormous. The old palace adds architectural & historical interest, and a new pool & spa options for leisure activities. Service and food are good, Mr Vikram Singh Rathore is keen to offer advice on the multiple activities available nearby (Chambal river safari; sand ravines safari; etc.) This hotel is a great destination in itself, especially if wanting a bit of a break & pamper during one's India travels.

The Raj Niwas Palace is a calm and quiet place in the centre of the small town of Dhaulpur, Rajasthan. It is situated midway between Agra and Gwalior, at a comfortable 300km from Delhi.
It is basically the erstwhile king's palace's compound, managed by their own staff. So dont expect all the luxuries and newness associated with resorts managed by professional hospitality chains. However it has its own quaint charm with a rustic feel.
Our pool villa had its own pool (obviously) in the private courtyard. The size of the accomodation (room + courtyard + washroom) was really big. The room had a separate indoor sitting area too. Cleanliness was fine.
The laws are pretty big for outdoor activities, with lots of trees and birds like peacocks. However, there arent many facilities here, they will provide you with basic sports equipment if you ask - cricket, football, baddy.
The staff is excellent, tries to accomodate all your requests. The food was also very nice. Since there werent many guests at the resort, they asked us for the menu for each meal.
They arrange a Chambal Ravine Jeep safari on additional payment basis, which was a lot of fun, especially if you are with family.
Overall, it was a really decent and soothing experience.

Stayed for one night as part of a tour and will start with the positives. Staff are really good and will do everything to make sure you enjoy your stay. The exterior of the hotel is lovely and the grounds beautiful and peaceful with lots of parakeets, peacocks and chipmunks. We were allocated rooms in the Courtyard section and again the exterior was very pretty with a huge veranda to sit on. Unfortunately the interior of the room really let the hotel down and they would benefit from a much needed refurbishment. Pool area was lovely and the accommodation in this area seems to be of a higher standard

The Raj Niwas Palace, Dholpur, is truly beautiful as a property. Dholpur is a very offbeat tourist destination but it is loaded with attractions, with my favourite being the National Chambal Sanctuary. We did love staying at the palace, which had a rich history and gorgeous architecture and gardens. The food was also great.
However, we did have one unpleasant experience. We had booked both the private Chambal river safari by boat and the ravine safari by jeep for the two of us. The boat safari went extremely well, and we enjoyed watching the gharials, crocodiles, Indian skimmers, and other wildlife of the Chambal River.
However, while planning the jeep safari, one of the hotel staff mentioned that we can start on it at 4:30 pm and end by 6:00 pm. I had, fortunately, gone through the website of the Raj Niwas Palace prior to booking and it was clearly mentioned there that the jeep safari was for five hours and also the sightseeing destinations during the safari were mentioned. They were also charging quite heftily for the same.
So, after we spoke about what we saw on the website, they agreed and mentioned that we could do half the jeep safari in the evening and the remaining the next morning.
Next day, while checking out, we were charged twice for the two jeep safaris on the bill. Again, I luckily noticed it, and told them to change it to one as our safaris were divided between morning and evening.
So, please be very careful while going on these sightseeing tours at Raj Niwas Palace to ensure you get what you paid for.

Rooms are nice and the plunge pool was a lovely bonus. Unfortunately we arrived at the end of monsoon season so the rooms flooded every time it rained. Staff were quick to attend to sweep out the water and block doors with towels. Need something permanent done to sort out this issue as it happened every time it rained. Food was ok - not much variety. Breakfast I thought was poor and ended up having toast. No cut up fresh fruit for breakfast - a choice of whole banana, apple or mango. Staff were nice but a bit slow with serving tea/coffee - we had finished breakfast before we had been offered. Shocked at the price for wine although they did offer 50% off in the end (double the price of most hotels). We were the first group to arrive since covid so they were a little bit rusty! Could be a nice place if they attend to the issues.

+1
This palace is so well crafted! There are individual private plunge pool villas and there's the Majestic Palace, intricately designed (we took the private villas). The stay made us feel so relaxed. This palace is a perfect getaway...lush green gardens to take a stroll, private pools to chill, taking a tour of the palace and good food (buffet had a variety cuisines to choose from) their laal maas preperation was the cherry on top!! We loved the stay!

Luxury accommodation with old world feel in garden setting. Tastefully decorated private courtyard suites with spacious bedroom, sitting room and marble bathroom tastefully appointed. Lovely dining area and roomy reception. Only downside is that wi-fi is only available at the reception area, but that could be considered a benefit to some! Peacocks, flowering trees, and swimming pool. A haven in busy Dholpur.

Visited with our 5 mo baby for a weekend getaway. A lovely property with birds chirping and squirrels dancing all across the property. One will leave the place feeling calm and zen like.
Homemade food served warm by very well trained and polite staff. We were received by Harendra sharma who was very wonderful throughout the stay.
Their GM is one of the most amazing person I have ever met - 100% marks in hospitality.

We visited this property with the whole family of 20 people and had an absolutely amazing stay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food (while limited to mainly Indian options) is delicious. The service is warm and friendly.
Just being at the property with all the heritage as well as the flora and fauna around was an experience by itself.
The activities were very enjoyable and the team set up a lovely bon fire for us which was much appreciated!
Harender was of great assistance during our stay.
Ideal location for a nice getaway.

Hi,I don't think the river cruise is available at this time of the year,if yes then you can certainly book it through the hotel,I know for sure they have their own private boats, other then this there are other local sightseeing that you can book through them..like the chambal bihad, lake..
Hi, yes it could already be very hot, up to 38-42 degrees. During Nov until Feb it would be colder. It depends how everybody feels
The food can be designed as per your requirement and there are not much here as outside dinning but the hotel will meet your requirement as desired by you
