Four of us visited Vagamon to participate in the PARGLIDING FESTIVAL there. The best accommodation has been provided by the organisers in this SILVER CLOUD CASTLE RESORT,just a km distance from the Vagamon town. We were there for a couple of days and we felt really at Home. In-spite of houseful, they could provide excellent service during our stay, including internal transport arrangements. Simple and Hygenic food to our taste..This place is money's worth... ,The nearest railhead is Kottayam which is about 70 kms from Vagamon.Frequent Bus facilities are there from Kottayam and from Eraatupetta, which is about 30 kms from Vagamon mini town. You can go for a package with all meals included, since there is no good restaurant in closeby..distance..The visiting places are : Thangal Para,Pine Forest,Mottai Kunnus, waterfalls, Trek to Kurusu Malai.etc.

Recently I had the opportunity of visiting Vagamon and staying in Silver Cloud Castle for 3 days. It was indeed a wonderful experience for me. Especially the owner Mr. Ramesh was such a gem of a person, who even went to extent of serving food for us.Truly a down-to-earth personality. We experienced a homely atmosphere throughout our stay. His staff were also so co-operative and well-behaved. Especially Mr. Charles was a very humble and soft spoken guy. We enjoyed the Fish curry and Chicken Gravy very much. The bed room was well furnished with beautiful quilts. The bathroom is indeed a glamour room. All the 20 members who accompanied with us went gay-abandon on those 3 days.

We were 6 of us bachelors and we had booked a double bedroom stay. We reached there around lunch time on August 16th. The drive from Peermade was slow and steady as the roads were not that good. But once after reaching Vagamon we started enjoying the climate and scenery around. We reached the resort around 2 PM or so and food was served hot. We were skeptical if the food would be good and it turned out to be awesome. Had a full meal with some non vegetarian items as well. The stay was quite good with a house sort of resort with two bedrooms, one dining. Since ours was estate facing and the last one there was good privacy as well. We stayed there for one night and all three times we had food only there. The food was awesome except that we had to wait which is fine as you don't get so good quality food elsewhere. They are making some changes to the resort so that we need to get up/down all the steps for food. That is the only drawback I can think of, that too for elderly people who cannot do the climb.

Silver clouds is worth the price. The cottages are good. We did have some problems with toilets but it was cleaned on request. The scenic beauty is really soothing especially in the morning. My family loved the location and the stay. The staffs are very co-operative and willing to meet the customer requirements. The breakfast which was prepared on demand was tasty. We recommend this place for people who would like to stay in Vagamon.

I stayed at the hotel on first week of july based on trip advisor reviews. Of course Only 3 reviews are there for this hotel and I don't have much options on trip advisor on hotels at vagamon. So I choosen this. We booked a two bed room cottage for two couples.

Pros : Nice Staff, Mr. Charles, who was soft spoken, when I first called him for Booking and also waiting at the main road to show US the route at night.

Good location, have a nice tea estate medows view from the cottage.

Cottage was quiet a Bit enough with spacious two before rooms and attached spacious bath rooms.

Resturant attached.

Clean & neat rooms. Hot water available round the clock on gycer.

Had inverter for power backup.

Cons : Too costly. It was a high off season time, when we went. They Charged us Rs 3500/- for over night stay. Which is not justified with the service they rendered.
1. No complementary breakfast.
2. No basic toiletries like tissue, soaps, shampo, towels paste, toilet rolls, brush etc...
3.No intercom facility.
4. Not even having mineral water bottles.
5. No coffee maker.
6. Had a fridge, which is not maintained / not opened for days with spider inside.
7. They had non running fan at my bed room. Of course not required during monsson. I run the fan after manually rotating it.

We have been provided a room at down the hotel for which we had to getting down almost 15 steps, not advisable for elders. Please inform the Hotel people well in advance to block the room at ground level If you travel with elders.

Food was ok , not So Good as mentioned in earlier reviews. Food price is afordable. The Staff was kind enough to do room service.

Could have a couple of chairs at balcony to sit & enjoy the beauty.

Overall, nice resort. Can be very well maintained. But i felt it costly for the service I enjoyed. I found some other cottages and Home stays better than this for Just a overnight stays, If you are a frequent visitor to vagamon. For first timers, the hotel is one of option with Good view around.

Staff was very friendly, they served a very traditional meal, they also assisted in preparing the camp fire and barbecue. The location of cottage is good and is in the midst of the vagamon making it easily accessible place for the view points

Definitely the worst home-stay I have stayed in till date!
We went out on a road-trip as we do some exploring as we always do.
We booked our stay in SILVER CLOUD RESORTS as suggested by a friend. The home stay is decent but I personally felt we were paying too much(4000), anyway we decided to stay there for that night.
Vagamon is a beautiful place. We woke up early and went out on a hike to this place called Tangalpara as suggested by the staff in the resort. Staff are friendly and helpful. We spent a good 4 hours in this place having fun and clicking pictures. We headed back to the resort only because we were starving. Finished our breakfast and went to our room to pack stuff and leave for the day.
Our bad day had started, as we enter our rooms all our stuffs were lying on the ground. It was devastating to look at the room in that state and we took a minute to figure out what had happened. We then checked the whole cottage, the window panels inside the bathroom were out of place and got our answer (theft). Thankfully we had not left anything expensive inside while leaving for our hike. But we did loose our clothes and few accessories worth 3000rupees. When we went to the staff and told them about what had happened they did not believe any of it. We got them to our room and showed them what had happened and only then they were convinced about the theft. They started to investigate the place but couldn't help us anyway, they apologized for whatever had happened and also said they were busy in the kitchen and did not get to know anything. We asked them for the owner's number and tried calling him so that we could report everything to him, he did not answer. We were too furious to talk to the staff, told them what all we had lost and asked them to provide more security for the other customers and left the place, paying for the food and deducting 2000 from the room rent for the lost items.
It did not end here, the owner calls up after an hour or so and starts blabbering what ever came to his mind. I expected a mature person, who would talk to us calmly and apologize for whatever had happened, but no this person was soo rude that I felt like yelling back at him, but controlled myself just because I dint want to ruin our trip because of the money and the experience I had in this one place. He was not even ready to listen to what we were saying nor was he interested in the incident that had happened at his resort, all that mattered to him was money and that is all. Can you believe this, he said he cannot be held responsible for whatever had happened inside his home-stay and asked us to go back and pay the remaining amount. He also said we were bluffing about the whole incident and nothing of that sort had actually happened. After the talk with him his staff started calling us. We didn't want the staff to go through hell because of this incident and soo went back paid 2000 which was not paid earlier and left back home.
In all, I don't recommend this place one bit, avoid this place like the plague! May be more amenable to men travelers who can give it back to the owner, but for a woman traveler, definitely a place to be avoided - they just don't give two hoots about you and no safety guaranteed!
Completely horrible experience.
