This has to be the only hostel I have stayed in with QUEEN BEDS in dorms. Yes, that's right! They have bunk beds in Queen Size, and if you're a solo traveler and stay frequently in hostels you know beds may be an issue in a few places but this sure isn't one. Obviously, the beds are not the only good thing about the hostel. So, let's talk about all the other stuff.

Location: Wow! Those were the first words to come out of my mouth when I saw the view from the hostel. But the very first thing you notice is the huge hammock in the front of the hostel and you just fall in love with it. Do not forget to lay in it for a while, forgetting all worldly problems.
If you're using public transport, you may need to trek for 15-20 minutes to reach the hostel from where the bus would drop you. The 2 km stretch to the hostel, once you get off the main road is not in great shape so be careful if you're riding your bikes. But the view more than justifies all that.

Activities: The hostel would arrange jeeps for you to go around to waterfalls & trails, which are absolutely breathtaking. You can make a group with the other travelers staying there and split the costs of the jeeps as there is no other way of exploring the town, unless you have your own vehicle. There are also exhilarating off-roading trips that you can take where the jeep would be driven at all angles you could imagine it could be driven at.

Stay: The hostel if clean and the food is pretty good. You may use the kitchen with permission from the manager to cook something that you would like to as well. Also, wash your own dishes people!

Mahesh, the property manager, is a delight and is always there to assist you and be helpful. Chill with him and he'll take you to the wonders of Vagamon.

This zostel has been the most memorable one only because of the people I met there. The stay and the location was insanely serene especially at nights when you’re just lying under the sky full of stars with great music playing in the background and bon fire. With bon fire, there were conversations happened that literally bind all of the travellers there. The manager Maheshey and volunteer Sandeep are just fantastic and I could see that dedication towards their work that makes every traveller so happy there that people were just extending their stay there at zostel. Not only them but the fellow travellers just made my entire trip worthwhile that I would want to visit there again and again.

Hi Friends,
Since, last two months.I have been preparing to visit Vagamon and suddenly planned to stay in Vagamon. I was gone through many hotels where they had expensive price for rooms. At last I went into Zostel hotel web site and I saw they providing less room prices and best comfort. I love the hotel place and offerdable price. They allowing only couple and group of people but not for families and children.

So, if you are planning to stay at Vagamon. Don't think too much. Choose it and book zostel hotel..

Thank you

I have been there yesterday with my friend and believe me ,I don't agree with what you say,let me give my review
This is just Horrible place ,not a place to stay for people who need silence and enjoy nature ,it's more of a club with lots of noise , you won't be able to sleep till 2am because of drunk people there and sought, I stayed in private room which is not worth for amount what I paid , they don't even serve you small drinking water bottle as welcome . @management people ,everything can't be measured by money ,who need your sampoo instead you could have given small water bottle and a biscuit pack because people drive to your place with lots of energy and loose it due to pathatic road conditions to your property. Not clean at all, very badly maintained hand wash ,not even a small plastic stool in bathroom, only cold water comes in shower , in the morning no water was coming then I have to go and wake up the property people and they switch on the water pump and I have to wait ,no hot water tooo that also you got to remind them ,totally not worth what you pay and energy you spend to reach the property, instead you can get may other good room with less rent ,just google before making the choice of this property.

We stayed at Zostel Vagamon for 2 weeks. The weather and the ambience together made our stay so comfortable and homely. The manager Rahul and Binish were always up for help. Binish even went out of the way to take us to the sun set point. The food was simple yet delicious. The chechis made sure that food was prepared on time. People going for work can blindly depend on the high speed internet and thankfully they even had a power back up. This was my first zostel experience and I throughly enjoyed it. Will plan coming back soon.

This Zostel has an awesome view. Property manager was helpful in arranging hikes & off-roading trips. Since we were only 2 people travelling, we needed other people to join us on hikes, it was arranged by property manager.
We stayed in a private room, but room was never cleaned in our 4 day stay. Food here is very average, one can try food at Winter Vale Resort which is at walking distance. I liked the common room, everything was in working condition and wifi is good.

This was my first zostel experience. I met many new people. Listened to their views and ways of life. Sat under starlit sky in peace. Sometimes just took a walk in the meadows alone. Saw yellow wagtail, drongo, raven and red whiskered bulbul near the pond below. Went for Kuvalettam trek. Mesmerising view of the blue idukki lake. Tea estates with narrow tortuous road were like combed hair with clear partition of western ghats.view from the reception was breathtaking as the interior decorations. Very helpful stuff.
The drawbacks were that our trek guide and most people of nearby areas don't understand hindi or english. Our guide charged us extra for not not completing the trip within 3 hours. Plus a large tamil young student group came on the 2nd day and destroyed the peace of the dormitory room by playing loud music and talking loudly.
But don't forget to a walk on a moonlit night after dinner. Truely soulsoothing.

Went to Zostel with some friends of mine during August that is Onam time. It's situated in such a beautiful location with the fog descending on us by late afternoon.
This place is situated in such a perfect location away from the crowd and noise.
The sunset point from zostel is to die for and the infinity pool nearby topped it all. Wanted to spend more time there. Even the folks are also quite friendly and welcoming. They were very helpful.
Since it was Onam time, the folks from zostel prepared sadhya from us. Completely homemade and so damn delicious that I still think about it.

Starting with the location : Midst the Hills, isolated with breathtaking views.

People : The Property Manager and the Volunteer take great pride in connecting with the guests, which made me not wanting to leave the place.

Activities : They take you on various Treks, Sunrise / Sunset points around or just bonfire and star gazing.

Overall : Surely, will go back.

P.S. Go Solo and stay for minimum 3-4 nights to get to know around.

We were a little skeptical when we reached there but it was a lovely experience. The location, delicious food, friendly staff, mesmerizing view, and peaceful environment make this location really good. There is a natural waterfall nearby which is really fun to visit as not many people are there. I would recommend good grip shoes when you are exploring the areas nearby. There are also some small leaches (harmless) so just take precautions. The only negative was the narrow road leading to the stay, as we hired a rental car it was a bit tough for us when we were trying to locate the location. Good for singles and couples but not so great for families.
