When we decided to go to Palani on a pilgrimage trip , I just checked with TripAdvisor's listing and found this lodge " New - Tirupur lodge"

Pros :
1. Neat and clean rooms.
2. Car parking Available.
3. Nalapakkam restaurant at the ground floor.
4. Easily accessible from railway station.
5. Fixes the budget too.
6. We stayed in A/C room and the room was quite good :)

Cons :
1. The restaurant offers good tiffen items but average meals.
2. The Temple is some 750m-1Km away from the hotel , and you need to walk for 10 mins or take an auto to temple.

Bottomline :
On whole Tirupur lodge offers Very good stay and service but their restaurant gives only good tiffen and average meals.
Can stay in this hotel and can try out other restaurants nearby

A pilgrimage to the Palani temple gave us the opportunity to spend a day here. The AC bed room with its attached toilet was ordinary with space constraints. The AC was noisy. The bed and the pillows were hard. Linens were dirty. The bath room was old-fashioned without modern amenities. The TV had a local cable connection. Housekeeping did not respond to our needs. The smell from the common bath and toilets was carried over in the breeze. Room service was poor with dishes served in open containers. The attached restaurant had an AC room and a non-AC room. The AC room was smelly and we took our food in the non-AC restaurant. The spread was vegetarian. The dishes were of low quality and the north-Indian spreads such as rotis and dhals were best to be forgotten. The coconut chutney and sambar were of the lowest quality. The bearers wore stained clothes and were smelling of sweat. Food was served in banana leaves by the bearer with his exposed hands without any spoons or a glove. As the hotel had a function hall, there was a disturbance. And do not allow the housekeeping to enter the room in your absence. As the place had lots of tourists around do not keep any cash/valuable around. Check-in and check-out was 24 hours. The hotel does not accept credit or debit cards. So do not forget to carry cash as they accept only cash.

Booked in through phone, the rooms were spacious and adequate for the purpose. The parking is good, lots of space of you drive in. Room was rather long, but Ok for a one night stay to the temple. Had surprisingly many plug points for mobile, battery charger, laptop etc., most hotels have only a few charge points!
Best part was the service arranged by them to visit the temple and the fast entry and exit they arranged through the liaison person. We were in as early as 6 AM through the winch and out by 8 AM, relatively less crowded week day, so we were lucky.
The restaurant is pure veg and suited us. Overall good for the purpose for pilgrimage.

I visited this lodge last week of Dec'14 with my family. We had booked an A/C double room for a night. Nothing about the room was good. The bed sheets looked like they had not been washed for decades. Bathroom condition was worst than pathetic. TV never functioned properly (though we didn't go to Palani to watch TV). The only thing good to say about the lodge was the Restuarant they had. Food in the Restuarant was good.

I went to Palani along with my elder daughter to worship lord Muruga.. we stayed in this hotel for one day. When we called from Chennai I was told that no reservation is needed. But I have to wait 45 minutes to check in. The Tariff is expensive not worth for your money. The food at the attached restaurant is okay. The room design is very bad. I can not get enough air from the window.. The fan is giving noise. This hotel is suitable for one night pilgrims. This is not up to my expectation.. You can find better hotels for this price. The autorikshaw guy charged me 60 rupees to reach this place from the Railway station.

We booked a 4 BED DELUXE A/C room through phone booking and the hotel authorities were kind enough to hold our booking without requesting for advance payment(despite of we being ready for it) till the time we boarded the lodge. Hotel authorities were kind enough to serve our needs helping us with quick onboarding and they even helped in arranging for head Tonsuring to my kid in the hotel itself at moderate price.

More importantly the food served in the adjoined Hotel Nalabagam was awesome and very delicious, the famous Adai Aviyal and afternoon lunch with mour kolambu & vathal kolambu requires special mention and it tastes simply superb. No wonder why this hotel was still remembered as one of the best hotels in Palani serving authentic tasty food with moderate price with best quality.

Only scope of improvement we felt is toilets can be maintained even better.

When on a pilgrimage trip , my choice of accommodation would generally swing towards a hotel offering proximity to the temple , cleanliness & reliability over amenities, comfort & cuisine . If you agree with me on this , opt for New Tirupur Lodge when in Palani.

The place is great value for money and has the advantage of excellent support staff who are ready to help you round the clock . The place is relatively clean given the churn of devotees and run a 24 check out format . Their restaurant Nalapakkam has a decent choice of south indian dishes and the food is definitely worth the money you pay .

The only drawback is you are surrounded by touts who claim to have an insider who can get you into the temple and out in a flash . Dont fall for them ! . My suggestion is that you either walk up the hills or take a winch and opt for the 100 rupee ticket at the main counter . This makes your trip less cumbersome and you can cut through some traffic

On a pilgrim city, a decent hotel with clean rooms and good sleep, ample car parking & sleeping facility for drivers, decent restaurant & pan shop. no much personal attention ( we cant expect too) as this is toooo crowded.

Tirupur lodge is the no. 1 option for lodging in Palani. Reasonably close to the temple. The hotel staff are responsible and organize a hassle free trip to the temple. Nalapakam restaurant is average, North Indian food is good.
