I'll start with the good - Location is perfect and the Vilamoura Marina is such a great location for food, entertainment, views and the beaches are the best. The Hotel offered a great view of all of this with us being on the 8th floor.
The not so good - The hotel lacks in so many areas. First of all the building itself is dated with almost no atmosphere in the evenings I actually felt sad for the musician playing to an empty room.
The staff seemed very unenthusiastic and not interested at all especially when you needed to speak to reception. the Staff in the pool bar were extremely slow which caused queues and the main staff member there seemed almost annoyed when you were buying drinks.
The pool area was okay, however the pool was cold and with the building being 'U' shaped it didn't offer a great experience so we decided not to have a pool day and rather have a quick dip at the end of the day.
the room itself was spacious however there are no iron facilities at all, in fact you had to pay to get your clothes ironed. Now most guests for this hotel will have their clothes in suitcases and any other "4 star" hotel I've been in definitely offers a solution to ironing whether that be an iron room or an iron in the room itself - very disappointing.
the staff forgot to change our towels when cleaning the room.
a side note to all of this is this is heavily occupied by golfers and groups of men. and although this isn't necessarily a bad thing what it does mean is that you'll find large groups being loud at most times of the day and the night. just a thought for young families.
overall the score for me is based on the location alone. I'd definitely be returning to Vilamoura but at a friendlier and more accommodating hotel.

This hotel is in a fabulous location and our room (on the 4th floor) had a lovely view of the marina and sea. However, the hotel is extremely dated. The room was really dark and dingy. We had two single beds pushed together which is ok but not ideal. The bedding all looks really old fashioned. The bathroom is very basic and really needs updating. The shower was surprisingly good though. It’s definitely not what I’d expect for a 4* What did surprise us was how good the breakfast was. There’s all the usual variety of cooked, continental, fruit, pastries, omelette and pancake station. I need gluten free and although I had to ask for it, I was given a lovely selection with two hot rolls, a muffin and a delicious Portuguese tart. The reception staff are very friendly. If you’re a sun worshipper you need to pick your sunbed carefully as the sun moves behind the hotel. It’s not somewhere we’d come for a quiet break. The hotel is full of very loud groups of golfers who dominated the pool bar area. The hotel does feel very clean, especially the pool area but there’s only so much you can do with a room that desperately needs refurbishing.

Minimal quality and unsatisfactory facilities The decor and furnishings through the hotel is tired and dated and the facilities are poor. Our room was small with a small balcony The wardrobe had six hangers per person and no drawers The safe is chargeable No tea/coffee making facilities No ironing facilities There was no benefit for paying extra for a ‘sea view’ as the view is a crowd of rowdy men and the noise from the pool area can be heard all day. The hotel is popular with groups of men. When the organised games began the music was over bearing.
POOL The pool area was dreadful, filthy, plastic beds and tables, with chewing gum stuck to them along with bird excrement and other marks.
Not enough parasols
The towels offered by the hotel were only slightly bigger than hand towels and well worn. We bought our own from a local shop.
There is no covered area to sit in for drinks or lunch. The option is more uncomfortable plastic seats and a few parasols, and again not enough. The outside food menu is very basic
BREAKFAST The produce was of cheaper quality and very limited in selection. The coffee from urns was of poor quality, the coffee from a machine offering Cappuccino, Latte etc, was awful.
The gym consisted of 3 pieces of equipment; one bench and some dumbbells.
Generally the hotel itself was clean and the inside spa area looked good.
The constant noise that came from the pool area doesn’t allow for a relaxing break and I would not take my family there
All in all our experience was one of great disappointment, and dissatisfaction
We anticipated (as described on the website) a relaxing weeks break in a Hotel opposite the lively and luxurious marina, but without losing the tranquility of a holiday destination.
The website also boasts For golfers staying in this hotel in Vilamoura, there is a free shuttle to the numerous and award-winning golf courses of the region, namely Victoria, Old Course, Pinhal, Millennium and Laguna And groups of male golfers is exactly what you get!

Hotel itself isn’t bad at all it’s great location and nice pool, staff are really friendly, but we are here on a family holiday with a 2 year old and we have been placed between 2 groups of lads on holiday one side are up noisey earlier part of the evening and the other side are I kid you not all night they are still out loud on the balcony at 5.24am, if I was the hotel I would try and place families esp with young children out the way. If honest the hotel does seem to be more men than I have ever seen in 1 place you have the golfers then you have the drunken lads :/ definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you can’t sleep through men shouting laughing and dragging furniture around all night long. I get people come on holiday but I still try to respect others needless to say when my toddler wakes up I’ll start dragging tables chairs myself and see how they like being woken up. Like said hotel is good location etc but it is full of men on drink and drugs :/ personally not a great place for families because of this, it’s still about £115 a night if you don’t like sleep I’d prefer to pay and extra £50 a night to be able to actually sleep Can’t upload videos or would show exactly how loud they are doesn’t help you can really hear through walls. And doors you can’t pull the handle down to shut you have to pull shut and make a terrible bang, also you can’t lock the doors from the inside it’s automatic so means if your toddler decides they want out they can just open the door and go so that’s not good either. Staff though are friendly and your right near marina and beach. And a little park. And the strip club if you like that sort of thing lol. Again I personally wouldn’t only come here because it is definitely a lads holiday hotel does have the potential to be a great family holiday hotel but like said they place you between groups of lads and it is prob 90% men here.

This is our second time staying here, we last stayed in August 2019 and would have been back sooner if it wasn’t for Covid.
I enjoy staying in this hotel because of the location, literally a minute walk to the marina and the beach!
The pool area is clean and you can always manage to get a bed, only downside is you might have to chase the sun as only parts of the pool get the sun and most of it is in the shade.
Breakfast was included in the price but we only went twice in our weeks stay, it’s very average and could be a lot better!
The rooms have been done up since the last time we stayed and was pleasantly surprised. Bathrooms are now a lot bigger and have a lovely new shower! Cleaned every day and fresh towels given when you needed. Only downside is there is no plug beside the mirror in the bedroom (girl problem when doing hair)
Was also charged for drinking the bottle water that was replaced everyday in the hotel room fridge and was not told about this until check out and had to pay €20!!! - please tell your guests when checking in it’s not FREE!!
Overall I will be back next year!

Completely satisfied with our stay here. Appreciate everyone is different and may have higher expectations but we had great week with no complaints. Lovely clean hotel and breakfast was no more or less than we had hoped for. Tip: get there for 9am and you won’t have to queue to be seated. You get what you pay for and we thought this was value for money. Suspect majority of the complaints are based around ‘off-peak’ dates when children are in school and larger ‘rowdy’ groups are perhaps perusing cheaper breaks. The pool area was ‘secured’ with towels long before we got downstairs so we just headed to the beach which is a five minute stroll. There are a number of much nicer newer hotels in the area if that’s what you’re looking for but expect to pay the premium. Horses for courses. As is always the case people are always more likely to complain than make the effort to put ‘pen to paper’ and say something nice. We would stay again if returning to Vilamoura.

We were a little disappointed with our stay here after staying at the Vila Gale Ampalius in April. On the plus side, great location literally steps from the marina.
The room was average for a 4 star hotel but the bathroom was really smelly mornings, not sure if it was a drainage problem or air circulation problem but really rank. Whilst it’s not dirty the cleaning was a bit hit and miss. One morning one bed was not made and we ran out of loo roll on two occasions. Attention to detail certainly missing.
Staff weren’t rude but rare to get a smile out of them.
The pool area is nice but only half gets the sun due to the position and height of the building. There is an inside pool but you can only go in if you wear a swim cap which they are happy to sell you for 4 euros. We didn’t bother.
As with any hotel in the area be prepared for groups of lads or girls getting a bit rowdy it’s a popular spot for golfers particularly.
Overall unlikely to revisit, I’d choose the Ampalius if I were you.

Great location, We were upgraded to a room with a marina view. Hotel was quiet as we went the end of March. Very friendly and helpful staff. They don't provide Tea and coffee in your room, but if you ask at reception they will take a kettle etc up to your room. Good buffet breakfast, we stayed half board and the evening meal was waiter service but the food was really good we were very impressed. Just across the road from the hotel is the bus stop where you can get to Faro or Albufura. We had a lovely 4 night stay and would recommend this hotel.

Stayed for 3 nights. All staff members were polite and helpful, specially the guy with grey long beard (forgot the name). I have deducted one star because of Management. Technically if you rent out a room it means you have rented out all the fixtures and furniture laying in the room. A fixed safe was laying in the wardrobe but I had to pay extra to use the safe for every day. In future you may not have to pay extra to use the toilet, to use the shower, to use the chairs etc. laying in the room.
