The complex itself is lovely with beautiful flowers and lots of restaurants and bars which are spotless with lovely staff and good food.

Diago and the taxi service he runs on site was so brilliant we would have been lost without them.

The shop on site is well stocked and the bakery is lovely also.

The accommodation however is literally pot luck and depends very much from what I can gather on how you book (I.e. booking..com / livein holidays etc)

We travelled for a family wedding. I had read reviews on here and was very hesitant to book but having seen many bloggers show their stay and going on pictures from booking.com I decided to give it a chance.

The 3 bedroom apartment we booked was like renting an old house someone had passed away in and it was literally put up for rent. It was dirty, dated, the couch was filthy the sofa bed was broken and the lilos upstairs were just disgusting. After a long day travelling we were so disappointed. We booked through booking.com based on the pictures they had up and were very disappointed. Other family members booked direct had a better experience.

The girls on reception were able to help us move as they had availability but this was by pure chance. I am thankful to them for this as my mum with mobility issues would not have been able stay in the first apartment.

The standard of cleaning across the apartments is poor, there is no cleaning service throughout our stay but with the washing machine cleaning towels was not a problem. Bathrooms were very dated with shower curtains and some apartments do not have air con upstairs. We only had fans but it was ok.

I would advise to book direct - the apartments are all individually owned and kitted out. They could be absolutely gorgeous with a bit of maintenance and some are. The apt next to us had a lovely smeg fridge and decorated to such a high standard inside. I would also advise that you let reception know of any requirements/issues that guests have which I never did.

It was perfect for the wedding as so many families were together. You can walk to marina easily. Diageo was always on hand to provide taxis if not and the train to the marina was across the road.

You could stay in the complex and eat/drink on site easily however if you are looking to be down on the marina / trips taxis will add up. Also we got caught with ubers a lot at the beginning as they aren't familiar with the old village. Rua da Inglaterra is the address you should provide.

Booked via Love Holidays. Complex iis lovely but disappointed in our 2 bed apartment which was accessed via one external flight of stairs. Once in there is a living room and kitchen the up a flight of steep narrow winding stairs to the 2 bedrooms then up another flight iof narrow steep winding stairs to sun roof. Not ideal for anyone with mobile issues.
Apartment was dated with one wall in living room bulging and broken, light switches not attached to walls properly and not working. Quilt cover stained. Beds lpy and uncomfortable. Sunbeds broken.
No welcome pack and no cleaning service or towel changes.
No secure luggage holding area for those with late flights home. Luggage left outside Reception building.
Apartment issues reported to Reception who organised fixing of light switches and quilt cover change. Other issues still outstanding by the end of our week.
Advice for future to double check accommodation when booking.

I recently visited here on a summer holiday. The complex is lovely and clean and keep in great condition. The bars and pool area are well run and the staf are very friendly. There is a small playground for small kids if you have them but it’s not in the shade so get hot in the middle of the day. The only issue I have is the sun beds by the pool.
We had to queue in the morning at 9 for the pool to open and if you weren’t there you won’t get s bed. You also have to pay for the which considering it not that cheap to stay here I thought was a bit much. If there is a few members in the family it can add up over the length of the holiday.

Amazing! I’d highly recommend these apartments, my partner and I stayed here for 1 week , we got one of the top floor apartments, amazing views ! This apartment had everything we needed , very clean village , it’s absolutely gorgeous, beautiful flowers & gardens also , the apartment had

Big kitchen with fridge freezer, kettle , microwave, dish washer, washing machine , cutlery, pots & pans , plates , glasses etc , brush & pan , pegs etc

Bedroom had decent size bed which wasn’t too comfy, plenty of storage space for clothes

Bathroom had the usual toilet , sink , bidet , bath & shower , they also supplied towels 2 bath & 2 hand , toilet rolls also first aid box & hairdryer . No shower gel or shampoos supplied

Living Room was very spacious, 2 big sofas , tv with British channels & wifi available. Dining table with 6 chairs

Balcony had a table with 4 chairs and 2 brollies , round the side of the balcony there was additional space where I used to dry my clothes with the clothes horse they also supplied .

Rooftop had table with 4 chairs and 3 sunbeds , they also supplied sunbed cushions.

Pools , 3 pools were at this village

My only downfall is the 30 min walk to the marina , we done loads of walking so suitable footwear is needed . I will definitely be coming back it’s absolutely beautiful and so was the weather .

I have been visiting the Old Village for over 20 years. I spent many years in the normal apartments and over the past 10 years in the Prestige.
We used to deal with a lady called Shelly who was excellent. Paid deposit and then paid in full in which ever way she required.
LiveIn holidays now seem to control most apartments. It has lost the ‘personal’ touch, but times move on.
But, our apartment looks like it is in the middle of an upgrade. Curtains missing, notices missing.
The most disappointing aspect is the lack of control for people accessing the pool. Prestige is meant to be controlled by those occupants using a key to gain entry.
You pay more for your apartment as it has its own pool, and it is generally quieter.
Not so. People climbing the gates and leaving them open so the pool is mobbed.
The other pools on the Old Village are pay at entrance, so understandably people will head for the freebie.

Here just now and weather is lovely. Complex is nice. We booked through booking.com which partners with villas 4 u and you get allocated apartments. We unfortunately are above a pub, opposite another and the supermarket at the side of us . 4c church square which if you don’t mind being woke up early and have 2 different types of music playing from 10am - 1am then it’s perfect but if not is avoid. We are only here for 5 days and checked in in a Sunday and the letting agent didn’t work that day so we had no choice but to stay that night and unpacked and only here for a few days otherwise would ask to be moved.

I have stayed at the old village previously and had a lovely experience however this time I had the misfortune to rent an apartment through Live in Holidays, as the apartment was rented through booking we did not know who we’d be dealing with! They were awful just awful I cannot even put into word how terrible the experience was with them. We were left waiting 2 and a half hours for our apartment with not so much as sorry! When we eventually got there it was grubby, shabby and not particularly clean. The stairs were also a death trap with small children. My daughter also found open tablets under her bed (which had obviously not been cleaned) and luckily she brought them straight to me. I complained and got nothing only excuses! They do not care about there customers and we’re just awful to deal with. Please please do yourself a favor and avoid if you can we were so disappointed.

I stayed here with my partner and young children. The first and overriding thing is that our apartment was directly facing the pub, with our bedroom windows looking straight down on the tables and a matter of only metres away which was a disaster with a young baby. None of the pools have an actual dedicated section for young children which is strange. There is a hell of a lot of steps and cobbled paving in the complex so it is not disabled friendly or suitable for buggies etc. The apartment was relatively clean but the decor ancient and easily 30+ random and weird pictures on the wall. The bathroom was grubby and looked 30+ years old. The kitchen was decent and well stocked with plates, cups and pots. I am giving the review 1 star as it is coming solely from the perspective of bringing young children here which I wouldn't advise. If we hadn't got children with us then I would give a higher rating

Well equipped apartment, adequate kitchen. Good general cleaning. Calm and peaceful environment in the pool area and in the village, aimed at families. Recommended for families with children. Weak points: No cleaning during the stay.

ive stayed here 5 times and have contemplated ownership. its a lovely complex well looked after with all you need onsite should you eish to stay there and not venture too far.

if golf is your thing you are spoilt for choice with the many wonderful courses nearby and the pinhal a very short walk away.

the pools are clean and well maintained. however the children are not allowed it seems to have any fun in the pool. there are a few pools to choose from. the main pool is split in 2 with one much deeper side. children are not allowed inflatables in any of the pools. last night after 5pm there was barely a soul in the pool and one boy was told off for having a tyre in pool and another reprimanded for jumping in. they were not causing any problems. i would understand if the pool was busy but it was quiet. there are a few pools. surely one would be ok for kids to lark around? i dont remember this from before but it would impact my thoughts about returning as this spoilt fun of many of kids snd they are part of the family and holiday too.

just a thought old village management team

Dear mwilliams15, We're deeply sorry and understand your concern, but the pool policies dictated by the condominium itself exist for many years and have been applied for a long time due to security measurements. We understand that the pool man might have been too strict and might have spoilt fun. Once again we're sorry for the inconvenience. Best Regards
