Let’s get to the hotel itself: a hotel that has certainly hosted a dreamlike history and many great guests. A complex of buildings that is very winding, partly dark. When you "walk" through the building, you feel like you stopped in the middle of the last century. The room itself - we had got an upgrade, thank you for that - seemed welcoming, yet swanky and heavy. An appropriately sized bathroom with two sinks, shower and separate toilet was up to the standard of 40 years ago. It's also a pity that you only offered liquid soap in the shower, at the sink itself soap. Not really sustainable. The rooms were quite dark and could only be lit with smaller floor lamps.
The bar itself also dark and not very atmospheric. Since happy hour was actively promoted, we wanted to have a drink. However, our waiter explained that Aperol Spritz was not covered by happy hour. Strange behavior. Happy hour in my understanding means that it doesn't matter if I order a wine, a beer or a drink. So we moved to another bar and enjoyed our Aperol there.
The breakfast itself we did not try, as 39 € per person just seemed completely inappropriate. We are in many international hotels and know the prices. Since my wife only eats a slice of gluten-free bread with some cheese in the morning, we found this price absolutely disproportionate. 100 m from the hotel we could enjoy a fantastic breakfast every morning at Café Wien (see separate review).
Conclusion: a wonderful hotel with a complex past and excellent service. All the staff were extremely attentive and courteous, so we can only praise them here. As guests with an international background, we do not count as a potential clientele. Nevertheless, we sincerely say D A N K E.
We were accommodated in a spacious, clean suite - fresh fruit, a fine bottle, flowers and a personal welcome letter to greet us. We were very happy
On the day of the celebration, the breakfast table was lovingly decorated, the atmosphere in the breakfast room is Hanseatic classy, because everything is served directly at the table. No disturbance from buffet-goers. No wish remains unfulfilled - everything can be ordered from the professional staff! A delicious birthday cake including handwritten notes was the crowning glory
The spa is very clean, the pool is at a pleasant temperature!
There is a room for smokers in the basement, a good way to indulge your addiction 🙈
We ate a little something in the bistro. There is a nice atmosphere and the soups and fish were tasty.
We received friendly advice at reception and the shuttle to the train station worked perfectly.
We thank the HSH for a wonderful weekend and recommend this hotel... even though there are certainly much nicer places on the island than Westerland 😉

The only suggestion I have for improvement is that it would be great if Apple TV was available in the rooms instead of linear TV.

The train station is within walking distance, as is the seafront.
The bar is open until 1:00 a.m. Bistro and restaurant in the house are highly recommended.
Safety is also very important here.
Breakfast with a wide range of dishes freshly prepared a-la-minute, even until 14:00 on Sundays. Very sympathetic farewell on departure.
I really enjoyed every moment here.

Breakfast with table service is at its finest. Finally, there is also the possibility to have breakfast outdoors, provided the Sylt weather permits...another plus for the HSH. The entire staff from the maid to the reception to Hardy’s Bar create a stay with the service of a 5* house combined with the Sylt ease.
