All of my screen savers for years have been from the outside bar looking out, the staff is great, and lunch has always been enjoyable. Plenty of tables on the porch and a bar outside with a great view and another bar with plenty of tvs inside.

Please note I rated the national hotel based on our on island options. Not against a holiday inn or Westin. The national is an older hotel with some older carpet, furniture, and bathrooms. There is no AC and we were in the 2nd floor which I was nervous about the noise but it wasn't bad. And they shut down any...

We were invited by the placard at the bottom of the steps offering Sangria. My wife be a self admitted Sangria Snob was drawn in for a sampling. She was not disappointed. Great Job. Food was very good as well. Fish and Chips outstanding. Of particular note was the cole slaw...Absolutely fabulous and one of the best I've ever had....

Thank you so much for dining with us and writing about it. We actually just played with our cole slaw recipe to improve it and it is really nice to have someone notice. It is fairly simple using a basic coleslaw dressing but the chef adds fresh parsley, garlic powder, salt and pepper. We look forward to having you dine...

Great service and very pet friendly. Some guests smoke in the pet area :( and bring their own food and wine!!! Management needs to keep a better eye on guests - the staff is excellent. Attentive whether getting a cocktail, wine, apps, or dinner. Excellent food if a bit pricey.

We went to Block Island as a family and were looking for a hotel that had a room that slept 5. The National has that room. The Old Harbor Suite is large and sleeps 5. However, be prepared that it is on the first floor with the restaurant literally outside your windows. Breakfast starts at 7:30am and dinner goes probably...

Thank you for staying with us. The Old Harbor Suite is exactly as you describe and how we try to explain it to our guests. We also have some suites on the top floor which give a little more privacy. Hope that you will stay with us again in the future.

Small rooms were very plain. Food could be better and is expensive. Free breakfast was very plain. Drinks were good but pricey.Hotel general manager was not helpful. Noisy in town location . Difficult to sleep with noise in the street from Local bars.

Great Location! Center of everything. Very clean and staff was very friendly. Restaurant for breakfast was great and came with the room. It has a nice 1800s Victorian feel to it. Fire pits with chairs and bar service outside.

The National's porch is where it's at for atmosphere, the best view and consistently good food. Showstopper Mike, Nate and Denise are their best servers. It's worth asking for them! We spend a lot of time on BI each summer and this place is at the very top of the list for a great meal.

After our 3+ hour island tour, we were looking for a relaxing lunch location with shade, a cool breeze, spectacular view and good food. This hit the mark perfectly!! We arrived and asked for the wait time for a table on the 2nd floor porch. Was told 35 minutes, and we immediately agreed. They took our cell phone #s to...

Try and get a porch table if possible. Literally best clam chowder ever, plenty of clam bits and tasty broth!! Service was prompt and everyone was extremely courteous. Definitely will go back again. Take a look at the lobsta it was huge and tender.
