Was just ok for afternoon Tea, the sandwiches were not great but the cakes were lovely. I ordered chicken & chips for my daughter & took 20odd mins to come & the place was empty. Very beautiful inside and the staff were very helpful and polite.

Just had afternoon tea with my dear friend. How lovely the atmosphere in this establishment. Lovely tea with sparkly wine. And the service! what lovely staff in this Hotel. we were made to feel so welcome and Vivienne with her colleagues were particularly attentive to us. A lovely way to spend an afternoon with friends.

I came here for a nice meal with friends but have to say the service was terrible. I ordered chicken fajitas from the Gluten Free menu which is more expensive than the Fajitas on the main menu due to the wraps. When my meal arrived there was no gluten free wraps with it just chicken and veg, I waited on...

My father passed away and flew home from Melbourne and organise a funeral at short notice. I dealt with Victoria at the Torrance and found her really helpful. Took a lot of worry out of a sad situation. Being a funeral we didn't know how many people would come back for a beer/coffee/sandwich. Victoria took us through the several contingency...

Lovely stay, staff friendly, bar food really good, rooms comfortable. If I have a criticism it's that room lighting very dim and rooms obviously geared up for businessmen and not for women trying to dry hair or put makeup on. Would have given 5 stars otherwise!

So I had an evening out with my boyfriend and his family and to my surprise as I walked into the gents toilets I found a camera situated right above the urinals. Spoke to a bar charge who said that he's not sure if it works or not. Whether it works or not this is illegal as it is an...

Room backed onto car park, very noisy, and could hear someone puking upstairs at 3 am, can't blame hotel for that, but could hear everything. Room very clean, breakfast wee bit tasteless, but great service and staff great, very friendly. Would stay again but not in room that backed onto carpark !

Dear Mildred L, Thank you for your review on your recent stay. I am disappointed that your recent visit with us did not meet expectations and some issues regarding the car park noise and the breakfast meant you did not enjoy your overall experience. My friend and I had a lovely afternoon tea at the Torrance Hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly and our afternoon tea was perfect. We now intend to bring our husbands and get them to treat us to dinner some day soon.

As a regular traveler to this hotel I always feel at home in The Torrance. It's frustrating that there are no plug sockets by the bed to charge phones from. Staff are friendly rooms are comfy and modern.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcoming traditional village hotel in walking distance to Scotland's largest undercover shopping and leisure centre in East Kilbride. East Kilbride has many local attractions including Village Theatre, Golf Courses, Ten Pin Bowling, Ice Skating, Odeon Cinema and is only 7 miles from Glasgow city centre. Built in 1773 by General Stuart of Torrance as a cotton-spinning mill and workers' houses the building in Torrance Square provided a focus for town life. In its many incarnations the popular Torrance Hotel has also housed a school, a shop and a Coaching Inn, but it has always been at the heart of East Kilbride. The building has retained all its original character and charm. We have 20 comfortable bedrooms including the newly refurbished Honeymoon Suite for 2007. Enjoy a meal in our warm and friendly restaurant or lounge bar which caters for a wide range of food from traditional meals to bar snacks. We are a 5 minute walk from the local train station which will take you straight into Glasgow's Central Station which runs every half hour. If more information is required then do not hesitate to ask our friendly receptionist staff. We would like to advise guests that there will be no bar or restaurant facilities for the next 4 months. We are undergoing a major refurbishment to improve the services to the guests in the future. ... more   less
