Since we had only 3 days to spare this Christmas holidays, we kept scouting for a weekend getaway; some place we had not been to before. Zeroed in on 'Bans The Hotel', a 3-Star Hotel cum resort which was situated about 160 kms from Chennai. The hotel is located on a highway leading into the Chitoor town; surrounded by nothingness except for the town at a distance in the neighborhood and mountains and hills at a distance.

The room was above average, could be maintained in a much better condition. However, it is a well spread out hotel with swimming pool, snooker table, bowling alley, video game parlor, wave pool, rain dance, out-door dining, restaurant, open garden space, a gym and a decent parking space. We spent a good amount of time at the swimming pool, played snooker and video games. We couldn't enjoy the Wave pool etc as they need at least 10 people to pay for the package and we could not cobble up the numbers. The place is fun and I would suggest that a group of 2-3 families with children will make the stay more enjoyable although not a necessity.

Some landmark places are at a motorable distance such as a very ancient Kanipakkam temple dedicated to Lord Vinayaka, another ancient Ardhagiri temple of Lord Hanuman located on a hill (the hill is part of the Sanjeevani mountain that broke off and fell while being carried by Lord Hanuman to save Lakshman), Chandragiri Fort built sometime in 1000 AD.

Finally, the in-house restaurant "Squirrel" was great. I was initially apprehensive about the food there but I must say that the Chef out there is simply great and prepares delicious and tasty food. We stayed there for 2 Nights and 3 Days and it was truly relaxing and rejuvenating.

It is a place one can revisit for short stays. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

Bans Hotel is outside the city of Chittor on the bypass. I only visited the restaurant on my way through.
Service was easygoing and pleasant and the food tasty. Friendly staff eased the way to a pleasant midday meal, with a cooling view of the pool and faux rock work surrounding it.

Five years ago, Chittoor wasn't exactly a place one would escape to far from the madding crowd. Now with even holiday destinations becoming indistinguishable from bustling cities, this one is still waiting to be discovered. This is a veritable oasis in the rocky desert. Bans the Hotel is the perfect escape if you are in Bangalore or Chennai or even Vellore.

Food is good. Rooms are excellent although the plumbing is aging in certain rooms and need to be attended to. Swimming pool is nice and if you are with friends the "Big -top" shaped conference Hall can double up as dance floor or even a Party venue.

The place is still not crowded so if you are an early riser you could hit the walking trail around the helipad just outside behind the main building.

Overall a serene experience.

Wonderful Place. Excellent food. The staff provided a very good and extremely friendly service. Enjoyed swimming, walking around the now developing nature trail and generally relaxing near the wave pool. Had a wonderful time - could not ask for anything more. Mr Babu Reddy and his able staff gave me every reason to return on my next trip to India.

45 kms from Vellore. It is a great weekend getaway.
The staff are courteous and the service is great. The manager Mr. Sushant take a personal interest in making sure that all issues are taken care of.
The lawns are immaculate. The swimming pool is large, clean and well maintained. The maximum depth is 6 and a half feet so it is quite safe. There is a kids pool adjacent for children.
The water park is active only on weekends. The wave pool is pleasant and safe. Avoid the water slide.
The food and the service at the Squirrel is very good.

We had organized a departmental party there sometime earlier ( 60 persons). It was a great success. The staff took great pains to carter to the smallest details. They have a small AC hall which can be used for meetings. It is possible to mix business with pleasure.
Overall strongly recommended.

This is the best relaxing center within the reach from Vellore, which caters to the varied interest of our team. The swimming pool is well maintained and a perfect place for water polo. The rain dance stage a place to just lose all inhibitions and shake it "dance". The wave pool is the perfect place to attack you opponents and have fun. The water fall serves a nice massage you'll need after a tiresome day at work and play. More and more to say...but summing it all up. Its a perfect picnic spot for people who have a busy schedule and have very limited time for relaxation because you get most of what you want for a relaxing weekend or even for just a day.
