Like the previous reviewer, we read the excellent reviews of Tui Lodge and decided to stay one night on our trip around East Cape. However, although the room was good, the bed comfortable and the grounds lovely, and Wendy was very hospitable, the breakfast was a big disappointment for the amount of money being charged.

We booked this B&B based on the amazing 5* trip advisor reviews - however ownership has changed recently. The gardens are beautiful and bed very comfortable, however the level of hospitality wasn't as described in the previous trip advisor reviews so we were disappointed (ie none of the nice little touches e.g. only a basic breakfast, no tea & cake...

We had a wonderful two nights here . Nothing was too much trouble , conversation and meals were outstanding . Would whole heartedly recommend for a peaceful relaxing experience . Rex was a mine of local information . The rooms are lovely and our room opened out onto the verandah .

First off, my sincere apologies for not putting this review up earlier, a communication breakdown at this end. Our second stay at Tui Lodge, and it was just as splendid as our previous stay. Such charming and helpful hosts, really got us out off a hole on Easter Sunday evening, when the local bar / restaurant was closed, and also...

We were made to feel very welcome at this unique B&B - a home away from home for travellers/holidaymakers. From the beautiful and expansive grounds which we were free to wander at our leisure, to the gorgeous and plentiful food, to the complimentary glass of red at the end of the day; all in all a special and memorable experience....

Just up the beach at Te Kaha, Tui Lodge is nestled in elegant gardens. The warm welcome, excellent accommodation and comfort food makes this a great stop on the way round East Cape. Rex was unfailingly helpful and hospitable, and we will long remember our pleasant stay at this excellent B&B.

Rex Carpenter, flying solo (his, wife, Joyce, was temporarily out of town) treated us like guests, not customers. Our room (The Fantail) opened onto a wrap-around deck overlooking the manicured gardens. The common room was spacious and comfortable with panoramic views of the property. Chef Rex served wonderful garden to table meals (dinner and breakfast) and a bottle of his...

We stayed for two nights. Joyce and Rex were great hosts. Beautifully maintained property. The breakfast served was excellent and the location of the place is just awesome. Highly recommend this place.

Great location, great room, fabulous hosts. Clean and tidy. Great food. Beautiful setting. Well worth staying at if you want a taste of real kiwi hospitality. A great place to stay if you are doing a drive around the East Cape.

We had a lovely stay here after a few days camping. The garden is amazing and the setting idyllic with the bush behind and the sea in front. Rex, Joyce and Peter made us feel very welcome -we especially appreciated the offer to do a load of washing. Just one example of understanding their guest's needs before the guest even...
