Half the pizza I received was literally charcoal. Not sure if it was a dirty pizza tray or they just left it in too long. Was really disgusting. For £10.50 a pizza I expected more. Other family members and friends have said how disgusting it’s been each time they’ve been. Do not come here, not worth the money at all.

Wasn’t going to bother writing a review but , I thought sod it I should! Now I have drunk in many a rough establishment but this is a first for me . A maggot in the beer 🤢 ! Handed it back to the bartender who said “wow that’s gross “ fetched the manager who agreed and….. replaced my beer ! For some reason I didn’t enjoy my meal after this discovery ☹️

Me and my husband stayed last night for our anniversary and what a great time we had. It’s such a quirky place. We had a meal at Owd Nells which was delicious. Our room was clean and the bed was comfy. The staff were friendly and we met some lovely people. Definitely going to stay again, I don’t understand why some people have given a bad review of here it’s in great location and it’s different. Would definitely recommend to friends.

Just stayed last night for the first time, ours friends paid for us to stay the night for our 6th wedding Anniversary, it was amazing. The evening meal was gorgeous could not fault anything same with the breakfast. All staff are friendly and helpful, the room was very big and the whole of the village lit up at night was amazing. Highly recommend

We have been absolutely blown away by the service here. My fiancé booked a double room with spa bath for my 30th birthday. Our room had to be changed due to circumstances out of their control. We were still given a room with a spa bath, just a smaller bathroom with no wet room shower. They immediately offered us free breakfast despite us being understanding of the need for change. We had booked a table at the Italian restaurant for the evening of our stay and we were treated like VIPs with excellent service and such friendly staff. The food was delicious! We have been to Guys multiple times and it’s one of our favourite places to stay but the compensation and service we have received has been outstanding. Thank you so much to all the staff at Guys Thatched Hamlet!

We booked a meal for family over from the states. 29 people and we placed the order in advance with names for each meal. service was slow but expected at first, starters came out, couple wrong but got sorted quickly. the gap between starters and mains was over an hour so a few members of the party were chasing the mains and the waiting on staff were doing their best, once the food started to come i'd say 20 meals were correct and main was very good but some were sent away, some didn't arrive etc etc. the last person to get their meal, the meal was cold but due to waiting that long ate it. Asked for the manager at the time, didn't offer a sorry or free drink or pudding etc so we went to pay. Now this is where the rating kicks in, the guy with a black eye was rude to a number of the members of the party and didn't care when challenged, maybe the reason he has a black eye but who knows. The next day the member of the party who's food was frustrated and called the restaurant, day manager said the evening manager would call. She did, an d her attitude to a 66 year old man was disgusting, again no sorry and basically you all get your food don't bother me again and i'm putting the phone down. Manager your the reason for a 1, if i could give zero you would have it. Your meant to inspire a team and we all could see that the leadership was shocking and goes to your staff, its a shame it was most people first time visit and you won't see any of us again. This doesn't include the waiting staff as they did their best. I hope the owners see this and review training.

Really impressed, we just turned up without a booking in the daytime and sat outside. The food and service was very good and not to pricey. Will certainly be returning in the near future, this was the restaurant not the pub. Some really nice choices on the menu 3 courses £18.95

We had a wonderful peaceful visit As it was our anniversary I ordered wine and chocolates for the room, the staff upgraded my order to large chocolate pizzas, which we found endearing. The staff we found very friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The night clerk Aaron was wonderful and spent time chatting with us about upcoming events, which was lovely. Would recommend a stay here in the jacuzzi rooms, enjoy a hearty meal and relax .

Was woken at 4.30/5 am to buzzing to find wasps in our room. Partner was STUNG by the wasp at the inside top of his thigh. Opened the door to find a swarm of wasps everywhere. Bedroom window wouldn't close. Rang reception and the staff member came and took videos and said he can't do anything till the manager comes in in the morning. Was told that this room was meant to be closed off because of this problem. Manager and head of housekeeping came to our room in the morning and said they can move us rooms or they will refund us for our second night and said this is the first they had heard of this problem. Cleaners said this problem started again the week before. Went back to speak to manager as we wanted refunding for the night we didn't enjoy and my partner being stung. She was rude and aggressive. Told her that 2 members of staff have said this problem had happened before and she cut me off and said she had worked there for 30 years and never heard of this problem. Said she wouldn't refund us and we either stay or leave and walked away. Head of Housekeeping came back and asked if we would like to stay or move rooms and then she said they was sprayed on bank holiday Monday and they had seemed to have gone even though in the morning she had said this is the first this has happened. Pest control turned up and wanted to take the floor boards up. Told to either leave our room or we would have to be trapped inside for 1 to 2 hours. We decided to stay in, looked out 30 minutes later and they had just been sprayed again instead and the wasps were still there. Manager ruined the weekend with her rudeness and made us feel unwelcome and she is a pathological liar because even pest control said he's been here a few times in the last few weeks because of this. Also, she doesn't understand the danger of wasps stings as our oldest son is allergic to them but basically Told its nature. She was unable to refund us because it was nature but in the terms and conditions they are liable for it. We ended up leaving, ruining our weekend away. Wouldn't waste your time or money here or your health.

We booked for the Friday feeling deal (£89.50 including breakfast and £15 off food). Firstly, the staff were amazing, they literally couldn't do enough for us. So helpful and friendly. We ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing. The only let down would be the general appearance of the room areas and the pub. Its in serious need of a refurb and all the woodwork either needs sanding and painting or renewing. The bannister up to our room was so rotten it was splintered I wouldn't dare rum my hand down it. Its such a same coz its a lovely place but they really need to put some time and money back into the overall appearance of the place. Covid lock downs would have been the ideal time for a massive clean up and renovation. Our room was fine if not a little outdated and in need of a serious dust!! If it wasn't for the staff and the food it would have been a "poor" rating.
