Detailed Reviews
Stayed here in July
It's only 30min fron Akureyri yet it's way quieter and has a hotpot with a view over the fjord and mountains.
One of the best hotpots I've been in.
Staff is very friendly and the breakfast is excellent
Kind regards,
Julian

We spent only a night in the Guesthouse and we would have wished more!
The owner is lovely , helpful and cultured. He manages the Guesthouse with a lot of care and generosity.
The rooms are very clean, nice and well-equiped. We had the view on the fjord and that was really beautiful. We could also benefit from the jacuzzi at the sunset.
Grenivik is just a magic place and from there we could see whales. We will come back at this place.

Loved the place. Was here for only 1 night, the weather was beautiful, the room was very nice and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was also so nice and helpful. Wish we could have been here longer.

Grenivik guesthouse is as a jewel in the Northern Fjords. We arrived late off the ferry from Grimsey - about 45 minutes later then communicated and arrived only at 22h15 - but the host Ingolfur still gave us a very warm welcome and tour of his self build guesthouse. Everything is brand new and from the best quality. The beds are very comfortable and the inroom shower is also a plus in Iceland. The breakfast is complete with even home made cookies. The best of all is the hot tub on the terras with a nice view over the fjord. If you're lucky you could even see a whale. The town itself is very quiet but complete with shop and gas station. For sure our nicest stay in Iceland.

We were traveling through Iceland with our camper but wanted a place to stay because of bad weather so we stayed at the Grenivik Guesthouse! It was a very pleasant experience and a very homy feeling. The host is a very kind man and extremely helpful for travel tips and a big love for his country. We have enjoyed the very clean room and private bathroom and in the morning we had a great breakfast with a surprise skyr and berries treat !

We stayed at the Grenivik Guesthouse for one night while we traveled around Iceland on our own before our bus tour began. It is a lovely B&B that is very well kept in a small town. Our room was comfortable with a lovely view of the sea. There was a jacuzzi outside that we didn't use because we were off doing other things. The breakfast was EXCELLENT, with many choices that were delicious! Our innkeeper was an engaging conversationalist, and I very much enjoyed hearing about his life as an Icelander, and I daresay he enjoyed hearing about our lives as Californians. I even got to meet his mom, who speaks no English, because it was not yet taught in school back in her day. Before we left town, we visited the town cemetery where a number of our innkeeper's relatives are buried. I would definitely visit again, if only for the interesting conversation!

Grenivík Guesthouse receives our most sincere recommendations. Comfortable accommodations located with an excellent view of Eyafjördur. Excellent breakfast with local homemade treats offered to us by our friendly and caring host, Ingólfur. We appreciated the valuable advice and tips on sights to see as well as interesting information he provided us regarding life in Iceland. By far the best hotel experience during our eight day visit to Iceland. Thank you !!

This accommodation just opened the first of June 2017 and thus, everything is new. One very special highlight is the hot water Jacuzzi in front of the house with a nice view of the fiord and the mountains - amazing! The fiord is home to many different whales and you can see them (however far outside). The breakfast was good, the rooms have their own toilet and shower, tv (incl. Netflix), bathrobes. There is a small grocery store in town and sights in the area for day trips. It takes a 30-minute car ride from Akureyri and is worth it! The owner "Ingolfsfur" is hospitable, helpful and very friendly. We also stayed another night just because we liked it so much. It was the nicest place fur us to stay within our 2-week roadtrip around the island! Thanks a lot to the host Ingolfsfur!!
