We absolutely loved our short (2 day) stay at El Dorado. The birding was fabulous, with lots of endemics. The staff and the local bird guide could not be faulted. Food was delicious but big servings so just as well we were only there for 2 days. This is a very important private reserve so it's great to support it....

This is a beautiful place to stay with very comfortable rooms, lovely views and excellent meals. But it is above all the birding that makes the stay so memorable. The road up there is an adventure in itself, but well worth the journey, and the hummingbird feeders, the compost heap and the possibilities for owling are all marvellous.

The Koguihabs are very spacious and comfortable and most of all, the view is gorgeous. The people are very nice and very helpful! Trails are numerous and well maintained, birding is also terrific (quetzal, trogon, toucanet and a lot of endemic species you'll see nowhere else). The path to go to the restaurant from the Koguihabs is very well maintain...

Just spent 4 days (March, 2017) here as part of a Field Guides birding trip and I can't recommend it enough. The accommodations are superb with views overlooking the town of Santa Marta and the Caribbean Ocean. The property is beautifully planted with flowers to attract the hummingbirds and there are many feeders around so watching the interactions of these...

We recently stayed 3 nights at El Dorado Nature Reserve. Getting there over an extremely rough track was quite an adventure but well worth the ride. The lodge was delightful and the staff very welcoming and helpful. Our room had fantastic views from a balcony that looked out over montane forest to the Caribbean in the distance. The beds were...

Lovely little place in the high mountains, delicious food in the restaurant. Excellent service from the staff. Breathtaking views from the rooms and the main hotel building. Birding enthusiasts will enjoy the variety of birds that come to the feeders maintained by the hotel in the gardens. The one drawback is that the road to get there is VERY bumpy,...

It's impossible to find anything remotely negative to say about the El Dorado Lodge. We did have one brief power cut during our visit, but the power supply is beyond the Lodge's control, besides the generator 'kicked in' so the main building had electricity, and they also provided torches in the accommodation. The Lodge's location is literally out of this...

If you like a winding road to adventure and love to witness an aviary's loftiest colors, this is the place to soar and then sit tight for a few days in Colombia's highest abodes above the Caribbean. Bring your binoculars and peer into the forests along the walking trails - you'll see the brightest red and green-colored birds, tiny ones...

Beautiful accommodation with a great staff and delicious food! The lodge and kogihabs are situated in an awesome environment. As a birdwatcher I really had a great time, here. This place is a must! Many species of hummingbirds at the feeders, and also wood-quails at the compost pile. Nice trails, but also great birding along the main road. Thanks so...

We stayed in a Kogihab, there are five such stand alone rooms with wonderful views. These rooms are a fifteen minute walk uphill from the lodge but the views are well worth the climb. Andrea, the lodge manager, runs a smooth operation that produces meals both appetizing and varied. The operation is very service oriented and welcoming. Your local guide...
