I don’t want to discount another reviewers experience, but I cannot match their experience with ours, as we are currently staying at the hotel. It is a totally magically blissful place. The complex of villas is situated on the side of a steep gorge, with the sounds of water and the tropics everywhere, but otherwise quiet. Our villa is huge, with a beautiful private garden and a large deep pool and pergola to rest in when the sun is too strong. It is spotlessly clean, and the staff make up the room as often as we want. The breakfast can be taken in the top restaurant which overlooks the paddy fields and towards the volcano, or in your villa. You can have any type of breakfast you wish, and it is delicious, you won’t need any lunch. Dinner is in the riverside restaurant. We ate there every night, the chef has designed outstanding variations on Indonesian cuisine, but also prepared us a simple dinner when we arrived a bit lagged. We have really enjoyed the food, and although there are many super restaurants nearby, we didn't see the need to leave. I need to tell you about the staff. They are grace and kindness personified, giving an unbeatable level of service. The manager sought us out to ensure we we having a nice time. Congratulations to them all on what they are doing. We enjoyed the couples spa ritual, also totally wonderful. The hotel is very well sited for touring and we have had 2 full days of the north, east and centre of Bali; staying here cuts about 2 hours of the drive and return to the top spots compared with coastal hotels as traffic in Bali is heavy and so slow. This one of the very best hotels we have stayed in. Yesterday we did see some lizards and some frogs and birds in the garden, but they live here, I’m just visiting!…
We visited the Samaya as the 2nd hotel on our trip (1st was Fairmont Singapore and 3rd Alila Seminyak) as a family with our 13 year old daughter. From the minute we arrived the experience was great. The location is amazing, set in the middle of a rainforest and rice fields, just 15 mins from central Ubud. Very unique. The service from all members of the team, check in, restaurants, spa and activity guide for the morning hike was one of the best levels of service we have received anywhere in the world. The hillside villas was just tranquil, very clean and authentic with a private pool that had all Day sun. The food at the restaurant was always perfect and they were so accommodating to my daughters request for simple food. The Bali produced white wine was also good, definitely recommend trying this. We stayed for just 2 nights, a 3rd night May have been helpful to see more of the central town but 2 for us was perfect before we moved onto Seminyak. We used the spa for reflexology, best I’ve had (and I’ve tried a few) and we did the morning hike through the rainforest and local village - this is a must. We’ve been lucky as family to travel lots, if your visiting Bali and want to experience something different to the beach then this hotel is great. Thanks so much to the amazing team for looking after us.…
I booked this property after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. And tripadvisor has never been so wrong. We booked the two bedroom family villa and it was filthy. It seemed like it had not been cleaned for ages. The pool was so dirty even after having it cleaned twice you could still not see the bottom of the pool. There we frogs everywhere. Lizards in room. The rooms are very dated and there was seepage on the walls. The gym had very poor equipment. The entire upkeep of the property was very poor. Talked to Mr. Puttu, hotel manager who was very apologetic. We had planned to stay for 5 nights but left after 3 nights. The food at the swept away restaurant was also very poor. This property does not deserve the number one rating in Sayan.
Amazing hotel, highly recommended! Great service, lovely rooms, we even got an upgrade when we arrived. Beautiful views of the river, the spa was great, the food at the restaurants delicious, transportation to and from downtown was free, and breakfast was available in the room. We took advantage of the huge bathrooms with amazing hot tubs inside. Very nice experience at the Samaya Ubud. GREAT price for value. Thanks to all the staff!
This is an extraordinary place, one to energise the senses and to help relax away the day. It is almost impossible to fault Samaya, from the time you arrive to your reluctant departure, immersed in hospitality that covers your every need. There is a particular emphasis on first class service here and it is reinforced every moment as you spend time surrounded by the jungle. The warmth of the Staff is engaging and you quickly become welcome, as a friend. It is a pleasure every day to be greeted this way, whether in the morning for a sumptuous breakfast at Scene, or for dinner at the superb Swept Away Restaurant. You will not tire of the view above the padi fields enjoying a sumptuous breakfast or enchanted by the river at your feet during the finest of dining, midst the sound and light show over the rushing waters. This will stay with you, long after you leave. Each encounter is meet by wonderful waiters and lovely leading Staff who will just simply make your day. The Management Team are a standout, providing exceptional attention to detail, with the reassurance that they are here for you, which is so compelling. Putu is a delightful man and his team are a credit to both himself and the brand; I can not praise them highly enough. The Spa is a must, a must in so many ways. You will be drifted off to somewhere special, pampered by treatments that are excellent and world class, provided by artists outstanding. Simply Samaya is a real experience, The best of Bali in all it’s richness and environment, and for this, you will find no better.…
Heaven on earth! From amazing Villas to amazing service ! Everything is perfect about this place ! The way they treat their guests their likes dislikes , they are outstanding’ Special mention for Tammy and Sunithni , they did amazing massage for the two of us! The saying river passing by is a sight to behold ! Food is fresh and excellent ! The villa 102 if beautiful and huge :) private swimming pool and their buggy service is great ! Their shuttle service to Ubud centre is a plus point! I have reduced one star only because the pool is very deep 1.8m which ideally should be just 4-5 ft so couples/ family can enjoy fully !
My wife and I stayed at a private pool villa and absolutely loved it. The resort is beautiful and each and every member of staff was so warm and hospitable and made us feel so welcome. Both of the restaurants, Scene and Swept Away, served delicious food with so many options to choose from. Augustina, the restaurant manager, took the time each meal to make sure that we were well looked after. We also really enjoyed the treatments available at the spa - the therapists are very well trained and provided some of the best massages we have ever had. The only negative point for us was that the private pool in our villa was a bit too deep (1.8m) and so we couldn't fully enjoy it as we couldn't stand in the pool. For example, we couldn't fully enjoy the floating breakfast. However, this is specific to us and so may not be an issue for other guests.…
We have recently returned home from Bali. We stayed in the Samaya, Ubud and it was like being in paradise. The hotel is such a relaxing and tranquil place to stay. Our villa was so comfortable and the food at Swept Away and Scene was delicious. Our private pool was a perfect place for cooling off in. We also had a lovely massage at the spa. The staff couldn't do enough for us and we were treated so well that it brought tears to our eyes! We didn't want to leave! We would strongly recommend a stay here.
Simply amazing. From start to finish this is one of the best places we have ever stayed - and we have travelled extensively. The room on the River was incredible - a huge spring fed pool with a beautiful indoor space. The service was outstanding - literally they would bend over backwards for you. Thank you Putu and your entire team for a very memorable anniversary stay.
It was such a wonderful stay. 😍 It was the best acquaintance we could have with Bali at this wonderfull resort. The vila's are very luxurious. The bed is great. I would recommend booking a riverside villa. These have a nice little gazebo in the garden. If you want to relax then I recommend some hours in this gazebo listening to the rain and the river. 😴 The resort is just outside of Ubud. With the complimentary shuttle or a taxi your are in the heart of Ubud in less than 20 minutes. Its worth the distance to be in this relaxing environment. They have 2 restaurants. Sense restaurant is where breakfast is served. It has great views over the rice fields and to the volcanoes in the west. The food they serve is awesome! Breakfast has plenty of choices and they make great fresh juices. Swept away restaurant is down by the river. Great food too. From classical French dishes to hearty Balinese dishes. I would also recommend taking a cooking class! We had a great morning, eating and cooking it. Chef Loka taught us some good things to make at home 😋 And then the people! They are the ones that make this resort really 5 stars! Everyone is so friendly and asking about many things. Mr. Mahendra can be proud of his team 👍 Thank you all for the wonderful experience 🙏🙏…
