The La Casa de las Chimeneas property is beautiful. Tudes is a very cute, quite small village that is about a 10-15 minute drive from Potes. It’s fairly high up a mountain, with a great viewpoint close to the village to see the surrounding mountains. In the property, there are several common areas available for guests, and everything is high quality and in good condition. The apartment we (a couple) had – the only one with a small private terrace – was very nicely decorated, again with high quality furnishings. The kitchen was well stocked and the washing machine and dishwasher definitely came in handy. The bed in the bedroom we used was very comfortable. There are good supermarkets in Potes to buy food and other supplies. It’s a good base to use to access the many hikes in the southeast Picos de Europa area if you want a quiet, pretty, small village setting. We had a great three nights here in late May/early June 2022 and would highly recommend this accommodation!

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at le casa de chimeneas in mid-July 2020.
The couple who own the properties are delightful and very welcoming, kind and helpful.
Each of the apartments is different and it seemed difficult to identify which one you would get when booking online, but from what we saw they all looked very nice. The accommodation is simple but comfortable, comfortable beds with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The tiny village of Tudes is located in the hills in the Parque Nacional de Los Picos de Europa, the views are absolutely stunning (see below). The hotel has a beautiful pool (not heated, so quite fresh).
The town of Potes which is 20mins down the mountain by the river is lovely, loads of restaurants and shops, a bakery and butchers. We went out for some lovely meals in Potes for pretty good value!
All in all a lovely stay and very good price for four of us.

Twenty minutes from the beautiful historic mountain resort of Potes, up a steep winding mountain road, lies the picturesque hamlet of Tudes where you can find La Casa De Las Chimineas. This is a hidden gem that must be experienced to appreciate it fully.

We flew into Santander and hired a car for the two hour drive to Tudes. We were met by Lucia, the lovely owner, who showed us to our accommodation; the Milenio apartment, which she informed us was in the oldest part of the building and over 1000 years old.

Although within the same building as the other apartments, Milenio is separated, in that it has it's own entrance, garden with sun loungers and separate access to the communal pool. The only drawback (which we got used to quite quickly) was the low doorways, since 1000 years ago apparently people were somewhat shorter! The apartment was clean, well-equipped, remained cool throughout the heat of the day, has excellent Wi-Fi and comfortable beds.

Tudes has a delightful pub, serving delicious local food and drink at a very reasonable price and ice-creams during the day. We spent a wonderful fortnight in the apartment, which was ideally placed for rest and relaxation, combined with local walks and interesting sightseeing opportunities. The views from the apartment are spectacular and it was quite a surreal experience to swim in an infinity pool with views to the Picos de Europa mountains. Our teenage daughter particularly appreciated the beautifully clean infinity pool.

We would strongly recommend La Casa De Las Chimineas, if you are looking for an authentic Spanish holiday away from it all in the mountains and we are looking forward to returning.

La Casa de las Chimeneas is an amazing location in the Cantabrian Mountains. The apartment itself was very comfortable and beautifully decorated, with a well equipped kitchen and stunning views across the valley towards the Picos de Europa. Having access to a swimming pool is also a huge bonus and very welcome after a day's walking.

Tudes itself feels is a beautiful little village, with great walks in every dimension. The Taberna across the road was unfortunately closed during our stay, but there are supermarkets and restaurants in Potes, just a 15 minute drive away, and we brought our food back to cook in the apartment and enjoy with a bottle of wine and an amazing view.

We were made to feel very welcome by Lucia, the owner, and felt that everything was taken care of to ensure we had a great stay.

Very nice stay in a tiny cozy village 10 minutes from the touristy Potes. The view of the mountains is beautiful. Reception friendly and hospitable. Very nice to have a drink and a snack every evening in the narrow alley at the beautiful inn next door, where most of the 25 locals and their families and friends gather in the evening.

Unbelievably great place in the old village. With a large pool, a view of the mountains and a bar next to it, where there is billiards and very tasty food. The apartments are spacious, very tidy and cozy. We had an incredibly good time in October

A saludo cordial .

We stayed 3 days in a 4 person apartment. It was idyllic. The apartment was 3 stories with superb views from the top bedroom and from the first floor balcony. It was a bit chilly one evening so we lit the wood burning stove - didn't really need it as the central heating was perfectly adequate but it created such a cosy atmosphere. We haven't played table football for years but we took full advantage of the games area to put this right. The village of Tudes (30 inhabitants plus same number of dogs) is in a sort of time warp but it has been brought back to life by the Taverna opened by Tony and Lucia. This is both a great place to stay and a super base from which to explore the stunning beauty of the Picos de Europa.

The La Casa Chumeneas was an absolute gem in a pretty rural hilltop village of Tudes. Excellent accommodation and friendly people made this a special short holiday overlooking the Pico de Europa. Our children appreciated the facilities as much as the adults and the walks in the countryside were excellent.

Tudes is a lovely place to stay, a fairly remote hillside hamlet with great scenery and some very good walks in the surrounding hills.

We stayed for a week in August. The weather was bit mixed - some colder grey days mixed with some baking hot weather!

It's a 10 km, winding drive to Potes and from there, there are also some great walks, spectacular scenery and mountains and plenty of outdoor activities. We had envisaged travelling a bit wider afield in our week there but it's quite a journey in and out of Potes through a slow, winding gorge road, to anywhere else that we decided not to venture out of the Liebana valley and the gateway to the Picos de Europa.

The accommodation was very good, we had a three level apartment - in converted older buildings there's plenty of character. We ate in some nights, there's enough basic kitchen equipment for that but we also ate out in Potes and across the road at the excellent Taberna Des Ingles, being August it was open long hours. The views of the surrounding hills, valleys and distant mountains are stunning!

Wifi is provided but was extremely slow at the best of times and it was down intermittently.

The hamlet has probably between 10 and 20 dogs, including several of the owners'. They're free to wander around and are really friendly during the day but during the night they were a real pain. On the best of nights there was a bit of barking off and on and a few slightly disturbed nights. On the worst of nights it was constant and in fact on our last night between us (family of four) we were woken up between us probably at least 5 or 6 times each - the barking started around 10.30pm and didn't stop until around 5.30 in the morning starting again at 6.30am.

There's a pleasant courtyard, with outside communal tables and seating as well as a small pool with decking. Looks very enticing and pleasant to sit round on the sun loungers. But not enough space for all the apartments so everyone took shifts outside! Apart from the dogs, the major let down was the pool itself. Whilst enticing in the hot sun, it was ice cold. Literally. We have stayed at plenty of places with unheated pools and know what to expect but this seemed like it was actually chilled - there appears to be some sort of solar heating system which was broken - perhaps it was working in reverse to freeze the water. We also stayed somewhere else with an unheated pool in our second week and that was quite pleasant and also in the second week swam in a mountain river which was warmer. We literally couldn't spend more than 10 minutes in the pool without our hands and feet feeling like they do mid winter in snow and sub zero temperatures!

Value was just about ok but that probably comes down to the current sterling/euro exchange rate which is the lowest it's been and makes everything in Europe comparatively expensive.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable week given the idyllic setting and comfortable accommodation - we'd love to go again but would have to stock up on earplugs and perhaps bring wetsuits if we want to swim for longer than 10 minutes!

Nosotros estuvimos en el de 6 y nos organizamos fenomenal con un baño. Está claro que el apartamento más grande es ese en cuanto a comedor. Lo que podéis hacer es uso de las zonas comunes que son más amplias
