For west-to-east hikers along the Hadrian's wall footpath the Lanercost Priory B&B is a logical stop, being 12 miles from Carlisle. Adjacent to the 12th century church of Mary Magdalen, very much worth a visit. (Entry to the church is free; to see the surrounding ruins--the unroofed part--you must pay English heritage.) Excellent dinner (a fixed menu) served family style...

We had a very pleasant stay at the Lanercost B&B, it is a beautiful property built in the 1800s and recently renovated interiors. The decor is traditional, the host warm/welcoming, and the rooms are very spacious. During our stay we opted to eat dinner there, which was an incredible 3 course meal; created by a wonderful chef using all local...

This B&B could not be more charming. Bob greeted us at the door with kind and friendly words, even though the rain and wind slowed our arrival and we held up dinner. And he is so funny! Both dinner and breakfast were delicious... Christina is a Grade A chef! The bed was comfy and warm after a long, cold, rainy...

Where does one start? Fantastic rooms (complete with a HUGE bed), very nice bathrooms, lovely sitting room, genuinely warm welcome from Bob. And then there is supper. Wow, Christina is a truly wonderful chef, and supper was something to remember. Breakfast was equally magnificent, and the packed lunch for the next day was by far and away the best we...

A short walk off of the Hadrian's Wall trail and worth the effort. Bob & Christina Lamb are the perfect hosts welcoming us with tea and homemade cake, incredible meals, exquisite lodging and great conversation. Dramatic backdrop with the Lanercost Priory behind their home and pastoral landscapes surrounding them on all sides. Enjoyed our stay immensely!

Lanercost is just a very short walk off the Hadrian's Wall Path so ideal for walkers. But it was so good that I would suggest travelling from far and wide to stay here. A genuine welcome when we arrived - a lovely room - a delicious three course meal in the evening, and wonderful breakfast the following morning.

Stayed here last week as a stop on our walk along Hadrian's Wall. Beautiful location with the added history element of the Priory as well. Bob and Christina were excellent hosts. We had dinner that night and the food was partially from their own produce and was lovely.Biggest bathroom of any of our stays along the wall. If you are...

One night here was not enough! We loved everything about this beautiful place; the position, the room, the company and the food. The owners found just the right balance of being interested and involved with the guests and allowing independence. Our suitcase was lost on the jet2com flight from Rome, and arrived at the B&B 4 days after we had...
