I could not speak highly enough of Rainbow Hostel. It is run by Carmel and John, a lovely couple who immediately extended a warm welcome to me. The hostel is oozing character, a beautiful common room, spacious kitchen and a peaceful back garden. Freshly baked scones await you in the morning and bikes can be rented for 5 euro per...

Great hostel with a warm atmosphere! Interactive hosts made this a way beyond average stay, Mattie was so engaging in sharing about their Irish culture and history, including that the hostel was his grandfather's home!

Mattie and Carmel tend to the needs of their guests with a lightheartedness and joy that permeates and fills the small front room with warm expansiveness. Stayed three nights and in hindsight wished I had returned after Connemara...There is so much of the heart of West Ireland and its core is County Clare and its heart is in Doolin...If your...

This was my favorite hostel I stayed in while in Ireland. I only stayed one night but I would have gladly stayed a week here. It has a very pleasant and homey feel. It was very clean and looked pretty new. I believe I stayed in an 8 person mixed dorm room with an attached bathroom. The bathroom was very...

This was a great little hostel (and their B&B next door) for my trip out to Doolin, in County Clare. The little town is amazing (especially the live music at night). Situated right along the coast, it makes a great spot explore this area of western Ireland. The Rainbow Hostel is very nice and clean, and the owners will gladly...

A really marvellous place and very well typically designed. From the hall with wooden furniture to the big kitchen, surrounded from greens. In our(7 friends) personally experience we really enjoyed the stay, Carmel welcomed us, on our last-moment unplanned staying in town.

Mattie and Carmen could not have been nicer. It's in a beautiful corner of the world and an easy bike ride (Mattie will help you find the perfect bike from his collection) down to the pier to catch a boat to the Aran islands. It didn't hurt I practically had the whole place to myself! Cozy, comfortable beds and great...

This was my favorite place I stayed in Ireland. It's nestled in the gorgeous and close knit town of Doolin. The couple that owns this hostel are very warm and helpful. Our room was cozy and we had a beautiful view of lush, green countryside from our window. If traveling by Bus Eireann ask to be dropped off at the...

I had a comfy time here at the Rainbow hostel. The owners are very friendly. Mattie showed us a slideshow of nearby sites through the area of the Burren and around, and he is a wealth of information. There are also many things to do in this area. I spent one day hiking around the Cliffs of Moher, one on...

Does this place have some little quarks- like some odd dish-ware, an occasional less than hot shower or a ball of Lint here or there? Of course! It is a hostel!!! I have stayed here twice in 7 years, first with my brother and then with my wife. The dorm beds with my brother were warm, clean and they do...
