For those walking the French portion of 'The Way' this is an excellent first night along the trail. A modern gite with rooms for couples, the feel is more that of a modified mid-range hotel that is nearly new. Semi Pension dinner is quit good along with breakfast. A good value when you understand this isn't your older large room... More

The rooms are very clean, spacious, but rather cool (couldn't figure how to turn on the heat...). We chose the Demi pension option and had the takeaway picnic for lunch the next day, all were good, filling and tasty. The young man who welcomed us was also the cook, he handled his responsibility very well, worked hard to please!. I... More

This pension/gite was started as a project to promote the region and bring tourists and jobs to St. Privat. They do a great job of running a super-clean and modern (drying cupboard for shoes!), well designed place. True, the food was not so special, but it was nicely served and we ate it in a good atmosphere. Definitely recommend as... More

This was a great first night on the Chemin; a basic but very clean and well run gite. We were only 6, including 2 pilgrims who reserved that day and a retire couple who came to visit the town in which the wife grew up. The owner/staff were very friendly and supper was lentil soup with bread, sausage, potatoes and... More

The is the road to Compostelle. More a gîte than an hotel. Well. Pilgrims do not have much to spend at each stop and that is most probably their first one is starting from Le-Puy-en-Velay. City is nice but do not expect much shopping around.

We stayed in a double room after doing the first day of walking from Le Puy to Conques. La Cabourne is modern and clean; our room was nice and cool on arrival even after a hot July day. We found the service friendly but slightly impersonal. The half-board dinner was fine but nothing to write home about. At 07h30 breakfast... More

I was there in May from Le Puy to St Jean de Pied de Port. Fantastic gîte. I was used to the Spanish ones and this was my first french gîte. Couldn't get much better. Excellent and good food The view from the communal room was stunning. The person in charge was very helpful

Modern, state of the art gite d'étape. The first stop from Le Puy en Velay to Santiago de Compostela. Everything is still new. Quite impressive for 'just' an auberge for hikers and pilgrims. Rain shower, taps with neon light, fully equipped ktichen... And a very friendly staff!

“Difficult to reserve a room during pilgrimage season: to go in May, request a room in January. Rooms depend of the size of your group: we were 11, thus 6 in one room and 5 in another. There are rooms for 2.”
