ulsi Village Retreat welcomes you to feel Munnar and all the freshness of Idukki at its original. Located at the Kallarukutty village of Idukki we are just minutes away from all the major tourist attractions in Munnar and offer you an exotic view of the Kallarukutty dam right at your door step. The Tulsi Village Retreat has been designed exclusively to provide luxury with comfort and with an objective to expose you to nostalgic moments of a village life
25 km from munnar city, situated in a lonely place surrounded by jungle and village near adimali. And that is the plus point of this place. Anybody want to experience serene beauty of munnar, its lush greenery, can go for it. Hotel was very good, neat, clean & well maintained. Must mention of manger Mr Govind, very cooperative and professional. No nearby restaurant, but home cooked food can be available there if ordered.

We traveled to Kerala as a family of 5 in the 1st week of November 2022 and chose Tulsi Village Retreat for a 2 nights stay.
Pros Courteous staff River view dining space.
Cons 1) No dedicated parking space. You will have to hand over your keys to the staff and they will park somewhere around the retreat, wherever they find space.
2) Total mismatch between what you see on apps like MakeMyTrip and what you get. We booked a Villa and a small cottage. The small cottage was the tiniest space that you could imagine. It could not fit 1 person properly and they give it for 2. It wasn’t clean at all with spider-webs all around the room. The pillows were completely damaged as well. There was no room for any comfort in the little cottage. So we asked if we could get an upgrade to another villa and we were lucky to get one. But that made our experience even worse. We found the room to be dirty with hair strands on the pillow (photo attached). The dustbin wasn’t cleaned and had 1 used diaper in it. The room was smelling of dampness and there wasn’t freshener. Hygiene was a big problem in both the villas.
3) They do not have fully functional kitchen. Given the location of this retreat, having a full functional kitchen is a must as there are no eateries/restaurants around it. We had informed the staff well in advance (2 hours prior) that we’d require tea as soon as we reach, but we were told that the milk got over and there weren’t any means to get more. We took it upon ourselves and went around shopping for milk and could not find even a single shop that had a milk packet.
4) Icing on the cake - We found a hair strand in the puttu that was served in breakfast (photo attached). So hygiene was a huge problem in this place.
We decided to immediately pack our bags and let go of the other night stay. The manager owned the situation and did arrange some refund (not equal to 1 night stay for 2 villas) but him owning the situation was a respite.
Overall, if you’re looking to relax and unwind, then I will not recommend this place. If you’re traveling with small kids, then do not choose this place unless you don’t mind carrying baby food essentials with you.

Very difficult to find, impossible without GPS. Locally not reachable by phone - no net. Very steep, narrow access road. No parking possibility. No reception lobby. We had reserved a room 1 month before with an extra bed. When we arrived no extra bed ready, no towels in the bathroom. Only undersheets on the beds and stimky blankets. After 5 hours sheets were put on a dusty mattress that had been stored under the main bed. Charge was for „extra bed“, not mattress on the ground. Toilet stinks badly. Dinner is served in the room. Food is cold when it gets there. No glasses, no soft drinks available. Loud neighbors in the evening. It says all amenities of Munnar are „only a few minutes away“: It will take one hour to drive there! Even Adimaly us 20 minutes away. No local shopping possible, no restaurant or hotel nearby. Nothing is as pictured on the homepage! Don’t believe the pictures! Despite the wonderful setting, this place is a waste of money and time! Awful.

Just one night stay and we can still feel the calm jungle with our eyes closed. Awesome place for nature lovers. Stayed in the cottage, felt the nature with the trees around us, woke up with the singing of birds, enjoyed the serenity of the jungle at evening....really nothing could be better than this. Food was awesome, Govind has serverd us with local food like rice patri, avial, kerala chicken curry and matta rice....and it was too good. We licked our finger till the last drop. Our kids enjoyed the welcome drink while swinging on the jhula from the big tree. We enjoyed the view of the river in the jungle as soon as we reached. In the afternoon, Govind helped us with the information of boating and we did the coracle boating on kallarkutty dam, collected fruits from the river, enjoyed the experience fully. I wish to stay again in future.

We are family members around 8no's.The cottage located 25-30kms away from the munnar town.It is good for the travellers who came from the cochin direction.Hospitality was good but the rooms were not enough for the 8 no's.e asked for camp fire,he replied that ₹500 chargeable for those waste logs! Also there is no parking area, roadside parking alone.coming to the point, heater available on that cottage, but water pressure from the pipe was too slow and u have to switch on the geyser before 1hour.

Through no fault of its own and as advertised Tulsi village retreat is extremely isolated and getting to and from here is a struggle. It has the potential to be a beautiful, restful and scenic retreat however, there were tradesmen there during our stay and were hammering away at all times of the night. We also smelt chemicals and paint during the day and there were no safety measures in place.
The rooms were dirty and not once did they offer to make up the room during our stay. The walls were gross with paint peeling and with oil stains. The bed sheets were stained and the pillows themselves were damp and brown.
The retreat advertised the availability of Tuk Tuks and taxis, this however meant that they were in cahoots with the tuk tuk drivers. Their manager Mr Gopal arranged for a tuk tuk our first day there and we were charged the phenomenal amount of 900 Rs one way to Munnar. We paid 400 on the way back With a separate tuk tuk company. The next day after having decided on a price the tuk tuk driver took us to a nearby view point and decided to extort us for double the amount when we got back. That’s when we discovered that most other guests paid 900 Rs for the return trip to Munnar and that Gopal was probably getting kick backs from the driver. This definitely left a sour taste.
The advertised wifi is poor and available in only one part of the property.
Lastly the food here is ghastly! My partner and I are both good cooks and rather fond of eating. Do not depend on their chef preparing meals for you and get take away meals from nearby villages (the closest one is Adimali...about 8km away).
Tip: avoid this “retreat” and spend your heard earned money and time off elsewhere.
