There was a construction near and they closed the water right at the time I was having a shower. I had soap all over my body and had to finish with bottles of water. The mattress could be more comfortable and breakfast was ok.

This was our first stay at El Abuelo. The hotel room was amazing, very large, superbly furnished and complete with a spa bath. The breakfast was stunning with a huge range of local charcuterie and gorgeous home cooked pastries and cakes. The location is a quiet and peaceful village and the hotel recommended the local restaurant,Casa Bedia, where we had... More

Hotel. Small but cozy. The rooms are modern and clean and big enough. The WiFi is free and works good. Also free parking and elevator available to connect the rooms to the main building. the spa is sweet, with 3 showers, a tiny jacuzzi and a very small and shallow pool. Enough to relax for a couple hours, but nothing... More

Throughout Spain we met lovely hosts, but the ladies here were really at the top of our list. They make a mean gintonic, help out with any recommendations you may need, and prepare a stunningly delicious breakfast (20-some types of cold cuts? Fresh tortilla? An entire wall filled with baked goods? Fresh fruit to boot? Yes, please!). The spa was... More

This was our first visit to El Abuelo but certainly not our last. The Posada is set off the main road in a very small village and less than 15 mins from Santander ferry port. Easy parking and our room was very comfortable & tastefully decorated with a queen size bed. The owner spoke English and upon her recommendation we... More

Easy to get to from Santander airport or ferry port. They waited up for us after a late night arrival. Easy parking and a small lift to the rooms. We had a suite for one night and for the return flight we booked a double room. Both were excellent ( free bottle of bubbly in the suite). Family run by... More

Have just returned from a lovely stay at El Abuela de la Cachava , which the owners describe in English, as a B&B hotel. This is certainly no ordinary B&B! A family run hotel, situated in a small village, a 15 minute drive away from Santander, the hotel is newly built with all modern amenities, including a pool and a... More

Since we first visited the Abuelo, four new rooms have been added. Although the Abuelo de la Cachava describes itself as a guesthouse, the experience is much more small boutique hotel, especially in the new rooms, which feature a lovely large bed, big jacuzzi bath and individual terrace. The setting is rural, so you don't come here for the nightlife... More

Our second stay at this fantastic B&B (posada). The owners, sisters, are wonderfully friendly and helpful. When we arrived one of the sisters informed us that her sister had remembered us staying there before (January 2011, what a memory), and therefore they had upgraded our booking from a standard room to a suite. Very nice of them, she said that... More

First night in Spain after the 24hr ferry from Portsmouth and the reviews suggested a good place for a stop over. It's so much more than that. A very warm welcome to this immaculate family run accommodation in a sleep village. Big rooms with funky décor, spa bath and a beautiful boutique spa on site - all very tasteful. Well... More
