Couldn't have asked for a better hotel or location in quaint A Guarda. The hotel is a restored convent and the common rooms contain an amazing collection of relics, books, and antiques. A welcome glass of port is waiting for you in the living room off the lobby. The sea view room had a great view of the harbor, as... More

A delightful hotel in a delightful little town on the border with Portugal, this hotel was a convent before it was converted and is a lovely place to stay, very close to the port and beach. The rooms are quaint and confortable. There are a number of sitting rooms, a lovely courtyard/garden and a café and a restaurant next door.... More

We stayed here as a stop on our Portuguese Camino. The location is perfect, down by the old harbour and easy to find your way back to the coastal camino path the next day. The hotel is in a converted convert as other have noted and it's stunning. The old world charm is still there with beautiful works of art... More

A great seaside room (you have to book it that way and pay a little extra) but it has a great location, quaint town, character of the old covent is nicely done with antiques, crazy old art and books but the bed and bath are very fresh and sharp. Has WIFI and TV (if you care) and there's a lovely... More

This hotel has been tastefully modernised but many religious artifacts, books and furniture have been retained in the sitting rooms, hall ways and reception area. It could almost be a small museum. The rooms are arranged around a small courtyard which has a flowering magnolia near a fountain. They are comfortable and have wifi. The staff were polite and helpful.... More

This converted convent has a wonderfully calm presence. Our room, with its view over the harbour, was comfortable and well-appointed. There were quite a few restaurants close by, so visitors have plenty of choice, especially if they like seafood. We had no difficulty finding a park for our car; it would probably be busier during the peak periods, however. Six... More

The Convento San Benito snuggles comfortably in a corner of the harbour-front in A Guarda where it can watch the village life go quietly by. This splendid old building has been carefully adapted for life as a small hotel, with stone walls and oak panelling, low ceilings and gentle lighting, with interesting little displays of historic artefacts that also help... Fantastic hotel in this former convent dating back to the 1500s. Such good value and an amazing breakfast, all locally produced and home-baked, in a tranquil setting next to the courtyard and fountain - a great way to start your day. Excellent comfy room, the lounge and other public rooms are a fascinating glimpse of history with complimentary port and... More

This is a beautiful character hotel in a superb location right on the harbour. Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed. We walked 20m to a fabulous fish restaurant. I would definitely stay here again.

We wanted a 4 star hotel in A Guarda (La Guardia), Spain and did not originally booked this hotel because it was advertised as a 2 star hotel. But in place we asked to see some rooms and decided to stay in it. It is definitely better than many 3 star hotels we have stayed at. Specifically the 2 ocean... More
