We spent two lovely days at The Dower House. The hosts Neil and Rosemarie were extremely welcoming. We stayed in The Hardy Room with it's wonderfully large, comfortable bed. The views from our room across the open countryside were beautiful. The ensuite was spotless and well supplied with toiletries, towels and robes. Tea and coffee in the room was of...

We had planned a long weekend to explore this beautiful part of Dorset and selected Dower House after reading mostly favourable reports on Trip Advisor. We arrived around early pm on the Friday to be warmly greeted by the owners Neil and Rosemary. Our accommodation was an annexe which comprised a reasonable size bedroom plus a separate bathroom and a...

We were looking at a weekend break near the coast and based on reviews we chose the Dower House. The only room available was the Peek Suite which we booked for the Friday and Saturday night. We called to advise them that we wouldn’t be arriving until quite late on the Friday night and were told that would be no...

We stayed in the French Lieutenant's Suite, which was luxury itself: the feature bath, a really comfortable bed, and generally excellent fittings. It was so quiet in the night, I could hear my watch ticking! We were sent on our way, fortified by a delicious full English breakfast. From start to finish we received friendly and helpful service and benefited...

I travel a lot business, and I rarely go for leisure. So it is a real treat to find such a gem of a hotel, by accident, and something so unique in my experience. This is a real boutique hotel. Very individual rooms, for very differing needs. We stayed in the Austin suite, overlooking front. Very light, great views, huge...

Really nice place, lovely pool and room. The Owners are nice too! Only problem being that Breakfast is served in 1 hour, so everyone in the hotel is literally in one room at the same time. One family couldn't get a table so they had to sit in another part of the hotel with 2 kids. You are also limited...

There is room for improvement. Neil and Rosemarie are a lovely couple and have enormous passion for The Gower House and deserve to do well but...with an upmarket place like this we feel there is room for improvement. We stayed for one night, b & b, on a Saturday in February 2017 in the Peek room, a room at the...

After booking a Friday night supper at River Cottage we were directed to the Dower House Hotel . We were blown away by the place - a warm welcome greeted us from the fantastic owners and the room we stayed in was cosy , comfortable , clean and beautifully decorated! All the extra touches made our stay delightful - from...

Stayed for a weekend, could have stayed all week! We had such a warm welcome, Neil, Rosemarie and daughter Emily made us feel at home and couldn't do enough for their guests. The hotel is super comfortable with a mix of old and new, fabulous loo's! We stayed in the Coade room which again was very comfortable. Breakfast was great...

Despite the Lyme Regis address this hotel is situated just over the border in Devon. Lyme is a couple of miles away; Axmouth a little further. We chose the best room in the house and were not disappointed. From the copper bath with mood lighting to the silver furniture and enormous bed this was luxury from wall to wall. Even...
